  1. Got a call that the LED light arrived and was told that there's no rental car for this time because the job will take only 4 hours. I can use their shuttle which doesn't go as far as my work, or wait while the job is done - more time off work for me. Very poor that they called me to collect when they knew there was a defect, instead of keeping the vehicle until it was complete - the water in the sealed LED was not there before they did the bumper work. Makes you question who did the inspection and why they didn't see it. or did they think I might not be that observant - it didn't take me long to point it out when I collected the vehicle. The water in the LED and the 5 places where I can see blemishes in the paint will mean a one star review and I'll be looking to get any future work and services done elsewhere.
  2. Took off work early today to stop in at Ford's Collision Centre for them to "fix" the water in the LED DRL which I was told would take about 30 minutes. The supervisor takes it around the building and returns with it 10 minutes later only to explain that its a sealed unit and he needs to order a new one, and when it arrives he'll need the vehicle for half a day, so looks like more time off work and a rental car.
  3. I cleaned and then monitored the leak on mine and found it to be coming from what I assumed to be the oil pressure switch near the crank pulley, and when I had it at Ford a week ago they confirmed the leak location and replaced what I learnt is an oil solenoid. See the attached photo of the drain plug after the Ford service - clearly they didn't wipe it off or I now have a leaking drain plug - I've cleaned it and will monitor it and the solenoid.
  4. The safety recall was done on Friday 18 Aug and all looks fine and everything appears to be working fine, ........ no I'm not planning to test the airbag.
  5. Got my car back after 4 days at the collision centre. They repainted the complete front bumper and there's no sign of peeling, but there about five very small pock marks in different places on the bumper, and water in the right side DRL. I'll live with the hardly noticeable blemishes - I don't know how they prepped it, so hoping it doesn't peel again. I pointed out the water to them and they said it should go away, but if not to return for it to be repaired. The water is still in the light after a 30 minute drive at 70mph in 90 degF ambient, so not looking like its going anywhere.
  6. The service department completed the solenoid and air bag work and returned it to the collision centre who had it ready for me to collect this afternoon. This dealership is conveniently located on my way to work, so I'll stick with them - I had the service advisor linked to my file changed, and back with the one I always dealt with when I took my previous company car there. They obviously don't wipe the plastic drain plug before reinstalling it, or it's leaking - I cleaned it and the area around the solenoid and will check in in a few hundred miles. Edit: See attached picture showing the leaking solenoid that was changed.
  7. My Edge was checked in on Tuesday morning at the dealerships collision centre and that morning I called the service department to have them take care of this solenoid and the drivers side air bag recall, and they agreed. This morning I called to check progress and the service department hadn't made any arrangements - the service advisor called late this afternoon saying that the tech that diagnosed the solenoid leak says it will take 6 hours so they cant fit it in around the collision centres activities - I told him that 6 hours to change the solenoid was BS and he has until tomorrow afternoon to get it done or I'll take it elsewhere. This is the same service advisor that told me that the air bag safety recall was merely an "advance notice" and there's no parts available in the US, whereas as the service advisor that I've always dealt with in the past said that it is in fact a recall and that they have the parts in stock. Will be talking to the manager to change service advisor's IF I stick with that dealership.
  8. I'd like recommendations for a floor jack. Not sure if 2T is adequate or if I need to go for a 3T.
  9. What Blue-tooth adapter is recommended for use with Forscan?
  10. Sorry to hear that your costly project didn't work out, and thanks for keeping us all posted and informed. Could it be that Ford have found a way to reduce the oil deposits in the intake manifolds, or UPR have screwed up? How confident are you that the McNally kit will work?
  11. I have a question, the dealership posted a service reminder on my windshield for 5K miles - in the event of a warranty claim, can Ford refute the claim based on actual service intervals being 10K miles vs the dealership sticker being 5K miles?
  12. That's sounds more plausible, based on the physical location of the device, down at the crankshaft. That's a description of the four devices located at the camshafts.
  13. Its right alongside the crank pulley, so doubt that its the camshaft VCT - there's four of them above the camshafts.
  14. I took the Safety Recall notice that I received in the mail with me this morning when I got it serviced, and a different service adviser confirmed that it is a recall, that they do have the parts, and it would take 2 to 3 hours. I'll get it done when I have time.
  15. Ford did "The Works" service this morning and confirmed that the leak is from what I assumed to be the oil pressure switch, which is actually a solenoid - they have ordered this and its seal. FT4Z 6C880 B : SOLENOID ASY FT4Z 8527 A : RING - SEALING Can anyone tell me what this solenoid does?
  16. My Sport is going in for the first Ford oil change tomorrow (I did the first one at 5K), and when making the appointment they told me that Ford do not have parts countrywide to do this recall, actually he corrected me and said that its not a recall and called it some kind of advisory notice.
  17. My local Ford collision center just called and let me know that Ford Corp have approved the repair and they can check me in on 15 Aug. He tells me that they'll take the bumper cover off and repaint the area of the defect - I told him that I don't accept that seeing as no testing has been done to confirm if the adhesion problem is throughout the bumper and not just an isolated spot - he didn't have much in the way of a counter argument - I told him that I'll confirm the booking later, because I'm thinking of getting in touch with Ford Corp. What do you suggest that I do now?
  18. I intended to bring this to Ford's attention at my first service, but when making the appointment for later this week they told me that they don't deal with it and I need to take it to the Ford collision centre, so stopped there on the way home today. They asked the usual questions like has it been bumped etc., and the mileage, took photos and said that they need to send this off to Ford Corp for their instructions, and mentioned that they could get the go ahead or may ask for a tape test to assess if its an adhesion problem. They would apply tape in the area where its peeled and then yank it off to see how much paint comes with it. They said it would take a few days to repair and I'd get a loaner for that time.
  19. Sorry to hear of your ordeal. Sounds like your dealerships diagnostic skills are lacking - its bad enough to having a problem with a brand new car, but to me they've made the experience far worse. I'd consider another dealership. Hope it gets sorted quickly and you can start enjoying your new car, but make sure that you maintain detailed documents in case you need to go the route of the Lemon Law. Any conversations with the dealership, followup with emails etc. to have a written record.
  20. My Sport will go in for its first service by Ford in about two weeks from now, and I wanted to clearly identify the leak before then, so A\about 1.5K miles back I cleaned everything in the area with BrakeClean and checked it out today and found the source of the oil to be what I assume is the oil pressure switch. Is the oil pressure switch a typical leakage location?
  21. That's also my concern, mine is small right now and if I was confident that its only this one spot I live with a touch-up, but I believe its a sign that its more than an isolated spot.
  22. Good luck with the new bumper and thanks for the heads up that your dealership is ordering a new bumper, I now know what to insist on when I take it in for the first dealership service at 10K miles in about two or three weeks.
  23. As far as I can tell its the same PTU with a drain plug. It may be too early to to tell if the 2017's are having the same issues.
  24. Are you collecting something in your set up, or is your results much the same as Beezz? I was keen on getting a catch can on my new Sport from the start, but after reading Beezz report I held off - thanks for all your efforts Beez.
  25. I'm also keen to hear of others that have had it done before I give them the go ahead, even if they have the parts when I go in for my first service I might chose not to do it then, because I do not want the issues that @Quila reported above.
