  1. It could be, but would be great if @macbwt would respond and confirm what he was referring to. One of our members posted pictures of his PTU that had cooling fins, drain plug, and the air scoop, which looked more robust than my Sport's PTU.
  2. Then you're getting about average, I get 23-24 mpg in mixed town and highway. We operate our vehicles in a very uncontrolled environment, and with the same driver, same vehicle, same route, same climate, don't expect to achieve exactly the same consumption figure from one day to the next. Did you apply the "tune" for improved economy?
  3. Glad someone else asked. With my 2017 Sport I get 22-23 mpg in winter and 23-24 mpg in summer, with a mix of 80 mph highway and 40 mph town driving. Its odd that in summer the AC compressor is running a good deal of the time, and the mpg is better.
  4. Glad I stumbled on this thread. The backrest is not cooling anything like the seat, and I cant recall when it stopped working - 2017 Sport.
  5. Can anyone else confirm if the very latest models have air induction and increased lube volume as @macbwt indicated? That sounds more plausible.
  6. I browsed the web site and couldn't find confirmation that their "tint" was also intended for the front windshield - can you confirm? It's also not 'clear' how dark the tint needs to be to effectively reduce cabin heat, and if that grade of tint would be legal. http://www.christopherteh.com/blog/2013/03/car-cool/
  7. I've heard that the windshields are inherently UV blocking, so I Googled and it seems to confirm that. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/does-my-windshield-protect-me-from-the-sun/article12495123/
  8. That just doesn't make sense, I've never heard of a "Clear Tint".
  9. My 2017 Sport has the drain plug, but not the air induction, nor increased gear lube volume - did the air induction and increased lube come later than 2017? Not sure what the gear lube volume was on previous versions, but mine is just shy of a quart.
  10. Window tinting will most certainly reduce the cabin temperature, but many, like myself, have the factory privacy tinting and not prepared to apply anything that's darker/illegal , and there's no way a 100% transparent coating on the windshield will reduce the cabin temperature. I would not consider tinting the front windshield. Maybe you should give a shade a try, ....... you might be surprised.
  11. Please post a link to that coating. I can understand how it would help in the rain, but don't understand how it will keep out the Texas sun rays.
  12. My 2017 Sport has 27K miles on it now and no issues with the PTU - I did the first PTU oil change at 5K and a second one at 15K miles, using Royal Purple.
  13. Here's my Covercraft. Sport parks in the sun all day at work, and when I get in the steering wheel isn't too hot to hold.
  14. I have no doubt that its a good product, but price and availability has me sticking with Mobil-1, which I've been using on my Harley and cars for decades with exceptional results.
  15. The point I'm making is that as yet we have no evidence that the Sport is indeed fouling anything similar to the pictures presented of other non-Ford vehicles, and once we know that, we can make an educated decision on the need to add an aftermarket catch-can. You could present argument that there's no harm done adding a catch-can whether we need it or not, but why not present it as such in the absence of actual model specific data. Can anyone confirm if the above is true for the Sport?
  16. It would be more credible if we posted reports and images of a Ford Sport in this thread.
  17. Could you post a few links to this research you did?
  18. Who 'can' confirm if our Sport incorporates the crankcase vent oil separator - if it does, that would explain why Beez reports that his expensive catch-can installation doesn't catch anything.
  19. I'll need a few reports confirming the performance of any of the catch-can systems mentioned in this thread before I claim "peace of mind". Do we have any evidence that the Sport has a "basic design flaw by Ford". or is it just hype and hearsay?
  20. I'd pull the wheels off and inspect the brakes - could be loose callipers, loose wheel lug nuts, ............
  21. By now you must have a few thousand miles on them - are they still doing good, and would you buy them again. I'm considering these, but all the fitment places around here are asking a fortune to fit tires not bought from them, so still need to figure out how I'll get that done.
  22. I'm very happy with the Covercraft® - UVS100™ Heat Shield more details on - https://www.carid.com/covercraft/uvs100-heat-shield.html But it doesn't fold up too compact for stowage.

    Gas Milage

I reset the trip meter every time I filled up and manually calculated the mileage/consumption and finding that the computer mileage was quite accurate, I no longer manually calculate it. My Sport has 26,500 miles on the clock and during winter I was getting 21~22 mpg, now that summer is here I'm getting 23~24 mpg - I was expecting it to be more economical in winter when the AC compressor isn't running.
  24. It doesn't "detect a person" , but it does detect an obstruction and will reverse, much the same as the power windows when they encounter an obstruction, such as a hand etc. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/vehicle-features/liftgate-and-trunk/power-liftgate-obstacle-detection.html
  25. Its closed on me a couple of times and all I did was brace myself and block the travel with my shoulder and it stops. It's been a while since it last happened, so maybe I should give it another try.
