  1. Replicator. Those 2 plugs are where the COOLANT hoses would hook up to circulate coolant through the cooler. So, no you cannot drain the ptu fluid by removing the caps. Looks like that was during the transition stage to the liquid cooled ptu system. From 2019 on they also added a cooler and an electric motor that would circulate coolant through the ptu to help with heat. I verified this on my 2021 ST. I just traded in for a 2024 and the PTU system identical. I also found that when you shut the car off, this electric motor continues to run for a few minutes, circulating coolant through the ptu, to help with heat soak. The newer style also have a temperature sensor install where the fill would be. All I can say is if they are using HOT coolant to help with the ptu failures, these things must be getting hot!
  2. Are you topping it off? Apparently, that is not good.
  3. First, a big thank you to Haz for the PDF. It looks like the 2.7 uses a different ptu (known as the 'high torque' model) even though they look the same. I did notice they have added a heat shield, drain plug and temp. sender. I don't see a fill plug, but I am guessing you remove the temperature sender to achieve this. I also see the cooler which routes (hot) coolant through the ptu via hoses and an electric motor to circulate the coolant through the ptu cooler. My observation-when you shut the vehicle off, the electric motor continues to run for a few minutes. I am guessing this helps with heat soak? This thing must really get hot if they are using hot coolant to keep the temperature down. What I don't understand is how Ford would wait until the last 2 years of production to finally make these improvements (the pdf applies to the 22-24 edge). It took all those failures for Ford to finally wake up? Sad. .
  4. What an informative video. They fixed what Ford overlooked, or just didn't care about reliability and longevity. I have the 2024 St does anyone know if this ptu is the same as my vehicle or have they made any changes from this ptu?
  5. I was fortunate enough to attend the Ford ST/SUV Experience in Park City Utah this past year. One of the courses was the dummy car stopped in front of me. You would accelerate to about 25 mph and take your foot off the gas and brake pedal at pre-determined marker and the system would activate with a warning and slam on the brakes before you hit the dummy car. Pretty amazing.
  6. I wonder if this would be covered under warranty if the vehicle was still in the warranty period or had an extended warranty?
  7. Sounds like something set it off. Since you have a 22 and it is a safety/liability issue, take it in and tell them your story. Could it have been something you didn't see? like an animal or obstacle in the road? Or maybe a bad sensor. Maybe there will be a code stored in the ECU. It may not be perfect but one day it could save your life for sure. I have my pre collision warning set to the highest setting, and it has saved me on more than one occasion. Luckily, I reacted before the Evasive Assist took action.
  8. I too would pass on a rental/lease. I have had a lot of rentals over the years and although I was never overly abusive, I know that during the rental life of the vehicle, there were people who were. Some people just don't care. I also feel that rental companies are far from proactive on maintenance. I am sure that they pushed the boundaries of the scheduled maintenance. On more than one occasion I would get a rental with the low tire or oil change reminder alert. Stay Clear!
  9. Will2U hit the nail on the head. Sync 4 does weird stuff. Most of it is relatively minor, but still irritating. Mine will occasionally lock up, phone calls have no voice or very static. At least the sound system comes back to what you had on before. Be thankful for that, I guess. Way too much crap on these new cars for sure. Too many modules! It would be nice if they kept the Navigation, music and phone all separate instead of merging everything together.
  10. Thanks, Haz! My 2024 Edge has been having the phone issue and 2-4 times it has locked up. Once or twice, it did a reboot and when it locked up, I held down the power button and fast forward button (about 7 seconds) to do a manual reboot. When I have the phone issue (which is very random) I hang up and call back, and it seems to work fine. I don't use Car Play so I don't have that issue. Also when I transition from one screen to another, for example from navigation to music, I will sometimes get a buzzing sound about one to two seconds long. Overall the system seems to be working ok and none of it is life threatening, other than the fact it is a bit irritating and should not be happening to a new vehicle. I am glad to hear they are working on a fix!
  11. I am a bit confused. I would assume for liability reasons; the sunroof glass is safety glass. What is the difference between tempered and safety glass? Also, I see very few posts about cracked sunroof glass. I am thinking that 90 percent of all Edges never have this happen. Other than something hitting the glass what would cause this. Maybe in Freezing climates?
  12. I have a 2024 Edge and there is a rattle coming from inside the rear cargo door, inside where the rear windshield wiper is. I need to gain access to that area by removing the big panel that covers this area. It looks like it is an easy task, but I don't want to break any clips or retainers. Any help is appreciated. thanks
  13. You can't use the engine for braking. The Edge is too heavy, and the engine is too small. It works a tiny bit but not much. Drive it like you stole it and enjoy the heck out of it.
  14. I wouldn't worry about it. These new cars do all kinds of crazy things. My 21 Edge ST did similar things with no warning. I just traded in for a 2024 and even it does weird crap. Drive it, enjoy it, use sport mode when you feel like it, double tap the ESC button to put the Advance Trac into sport mode and enjoy the ride!
  15. I Love the Trapezoids! They are true Edge ST heritage! In my opinion they are the look of the ST
  16. In the States they changed the tips to distinguish between the Edge Sport and the (new) ST. There is a 2019 YouTube video (The Fast Lane Car) Highlighting the top 10 differences between the two. I was surprised how many changes were made to make it an ST. Seems the new exhaust tips were icing on the cake. Not sure why they chose to keep the Sport tips on your ST. Maybe a different assembly line and not cost effective to make certain changes?
  17. Wubster100, would it be worth it to take the vehicle into a dealer and have them do a complete fluid change? I don't know how much it would cost and I have a hard time trusting dealerships, but it might be worth it. Would love to see you make it to the 200k mark. Jim
  18. I know I am late chiming in on this, but I bought a new 2021 Edge St and around 2000 miles I noticed the transmission started to do some really weird things. If I accelerated aggressively from a dead stop, it would slam from 1st to 2nd. Felt like the transmission was going to drop out of the bottom of the car. The other issue was when enjoying Sport Mode, you would occasionally here a SCREECH when it would shift gears (somewhere between 2nd and 4th gear. It was about 1-2 seconds long. You only heard it; you didn't feel anything. The final issue was in reverse. When in reverse it felt like there was a delay, then surge when you would accelerate. After multiple trips to the dealer, they ended up replacing the transmission shift control module. It seemed to help the issue, but the reverse issue was the same. I never felt comfortable after the buck/slam issue. At 12K I ended up trading in for a 2024 Edge St. Only after driving the 2024 (I am at 2800 miles) did realize the 2021 had a serious transmission issue. I think there may be a class action lawsuit on this. Not sure on the specific issues though. When I brought the car in last week for the first oil change, the service writer noticed me I told him I traded the 2021 for a 2024. He asked me if Ford bought my old vehicle back!😄 I should have pushed for a new vehicle!
  19. My 2024 Edge St has/had the same thing in the driver's side rear light assy. Seems most of it has gone away, but I will check it and give an update. Other than cosmetic I don't think it would hurt the LEDS. I have heard of people drilling a small hole in the base of the light, but I don't know if that is a good strategy.
  20. My 2021 St had no forward passthrough insert and no hood insulator blanket. It did come with the cupholder inserts. I bought them from ford and they had no explanation,
  21. What makes the ST stand out is the unique exhaust tips. They are one of a kind. And they look awesome! I don't want mine to look like an Edge Sport. With an ST badge? I
  22. Yes. You will see it in the Cities. The larger the city, the more you will see. Regular around town driving doesn't reveal much at all. Not sure how the technology works, but it is amazing. I live in California and about 2 months ago took a trip to Los Angeles. It is almost surreal the way it looks.
  23. Seems crazy to have such a great feature and have to jump through hoops to get to it. Calm screen is genius! I am starting to like it more than all the other screens.
  24. I've tried it and it does not work. I think I have tried everything I can think of. It's such a great feature. too bad it's not easy to get to.
  25. The problem is all of the newer vehicles have gotten so complex, even the dealers (and certified technicians) can't figure out the problem. Wait 15-20 years down the road and they don't even know how to figure it out.
