Tail Light Moisture Condensation 2019-2024
STBEAST replied to Wubster100's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
My 2024 Edge St has/had the same thing in the driver's side rear light assy. Seems most of it has gone away, but I will check it and give an update. Other than cosmetic I don't think it would hurt the LEDS. I have heard of people drilling a small hole in the base of the light, but I don't know if that is a good strategy. -
Insert for compartment located on console
STBEAST replied to Keith1341's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
My 2021 St had no forward passthrough insert and no hood insulator blanket. It did come with the cupholder inserts. I bought them from ford and they had no explanation, -
2019 edge st 2019 Edge ST--replaced the odd-shaped exhaust tips
STBEAST replied to Jombi's topic in Accessories & Modifications
What makes the ST stand out is the unique exhaust tips. They are one of a kind. And they look awesome! I don't want mine to look like an Edge Sport. With an ST badge? I -
Yes. You will see it in the Cities. The larger the city, the more you will see. Regular around town driving doesn't reveal much at all. Not sure how the technology works, but it is amazing. I live in California and about 2 months ago took a trip to Los Angeles. It is almost surreal the way it looks.

Seems crazy to have such a great feature and have to jump through hoops to get to it. Calm screen is genius! I am starting to like it more than all the other screens.
-
I've tried it and it does not work. I think I have tried everything I can think of. It's such a great feature. too bad it's not easy to get to.

The problem is all of the newer vehicles have gotten so complex, even the dealers (and certified technicians) can't figure out the problem. Wait 15-20 years down the road and they don't even know how to figure it out.

I don't want to wait for it to happen and do a reboot. A lot different than sitting at home waiting for my laptop to reboot. I am doing 80 miles an hour, and this could happen. A bit dangerous to say the least! Do you enjoy your computer when it locks up. No. The best way to enjoy your ride is to know something like this is not going to happen.

Wow. Good to know! Thanks, Haz. I have a 2024 ST with 1600 miles on it. I have probably used the ACC about a half dozen times and so far, no issue. Is there a way to know if my vehicle is affected, or do we have to wait for this issue to happen? Time will tell ? I am taking the vehicle in for the first oil change around 2000 miles. Should I ask them to check if my vehicle is affected by this? Thanks for the advice. Jim

Thanks for that information. But I do notice the AWD system (via the AWD screen) being much more active when in this mode. It becomes less front wheel drive biased when in sport mode and activates the AWD at a much lower threshold. Any explanation of this would be helpful.

I saw a video showing how when you 'double tap' the ESC button on a 2019-2024 Edge ST (and possibly even the other models), it puts the Advancetrac into Sport Mode. A totally separate feature than pushing the sport mode (S button) on the rotary shift dial. There is not much information on this feature (none in the owner's manual), but it seems to have a notable effect on engaging the AWD, making it much more active. I monitored the AWD screen while trying out this 'hidden' mode and could see a difference throughout the driving range. It seems this mode would be very beneficial during inclement weather and off pavement. I have played with it quite a bit and I believe many Edge St owners don't even know it Exists. It may have been mentioned in previous topics, but sometimes searching for a topic on this forum can be a challenge. Hope some of you get to read this valuable info. and wonder if this feature applies to the 2.0 Edge 2019+. Happy Easter egg!

I have a 2024 Edge St. I have read where the rear axle disconnects from the system (when not needed) to save fuel. I am curious on how this system works. I am guessing the PTU and RDU would both have to disconnect the rear axle to achieve this? How do they do this? Thanks.

I have a 2024 Edge ST. I plan on doing fluid changes on both the PTU and RDU around 20K. From all the horror stories I have read (mostly PTU), do you think this is a good service interval and what fluid should I use. I have heard about this 'Red Line Shock Proof' being the best fluid but was hoping to get some feedback on this. Thanks so much for any advice. Jim
-
Sounds like PTU but could be either one. Sometimes sounds can travel (shafts, couplers etc.) making it sound like it's coming from a different area. From all the reading on PTU's I would think that to be the issue. Since it is whining but still engaging, there is a chance changing the fluid could be the case. I wouldn't drive it until you can get the fluids changes in both units. Hopefully, you get lucky, and a fluid change fixes it. Someone else will respond who knows more than I do about this issue.

Anyone know if there is a shortcut?

Heated and Cooled Seats
STBEAST replied to Wedgeamatic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Kudos to ben. Auto start stop is worse on an engine than stop and go traffic. What a great suggestion. Thanks for the info! -
I'm guessing it is coming from the exhaust system. It only happens after the car is warmed up. I would start with the exhaust system first. Some of the ST's had a resonator that would fail internally causing the same issue. It happened to my 2021 St.

I have a 2024 Edge St. To initiate 'calm screen' I have to go through 3 moves (settings, general and then calm screen). Does anyone know if there is a calm screen shortcut. I have seen it on other Ford vehicles but not the Edge. Anybody know if there is? Such a great feature to have, just a pain in the neck to activate, especially when driving. Thanks

Good information! Seems Ford has overlooked the importance of TRANSMISSION. PTU AND RDU fluid changes. Since these service intervals no longer exist in the current (digital) owner's manuals. What are the recommended intervals??
-
I agree. But these oil pump belt failures are occurring long after the factory warranty expires. Oil is oil, I get it. But it's all about the additive packages the individual manufacturers put in the base oil that may be in question. Certain chemicals (additives) may have a long-term acceleration of the belt deterioration. Just for thought?
-
I guess it makes sense that Ford is going to only recommend Motorcraft, since it is their oil. Sales for sure. I think rather than risk the possibility of an oil pump belt failure due to using an oil NOT recommended by Ford, I will stick with Motorcraft for sure! Thanks for the info.
-
Thank you so much for that information. I had a 2021 ST and after about 5000 miles it did the same exact thing! When I would push up on the sunshade or open it the tiniest bit the problem would disappear! So irritating! I recently traded in for a 2024, but I am sure in time this will happen. Thank you!!!

Coming in late on this thread, the dealer uses Motorcraft 5w-30 semi synthetic and the say it is what Ford recommends. I was surprised they use semi instead of full synthetic. With the twin turbos on the ST I go about 4000 (no more than 4500) between oil changes. Past 5000 on a turbo engine seems to be pushing it a bit. Seems like if Ford recommends it, go with it??? My concern is the belt driven oil pump. I have read stories that possibly premature belt failures (followed by engine failures) could be linked to the customer using oils other than what ford recommends. I am not sure how true this is?? Makes no sense to use a rubber belt bathed in oil to drive the 'Heart" of the engine, but couldn't certain additive packages in certain oils accelerate deterioration of this critical belt? I literally have no clue how much truth there is to this, but I thought it would be good for conversation. Thanks

A printed manual is pretty nice to have. So nice to flip to a page and have it all right there in front of you. Nice to have a choice.
-
I am pretty sure you do not have that option. I don't think it was ever offered on the Edge.
