  1. Kudos to ben. Auto start stop is worse on an engine than stop and go traffic. What a great suggestion. Thanks for the info!
  2. I'm guessing it is coming from the exhaust system. It only happens after the car is warmed up. I would start with the exhaust system first. Some of the ST's had a resonator that would fail internally causing the same issue. It happened to my 2021 St.
  3. I have a 2024 Edge St. To initiate 'calm screen' I have to go through 3 moves (settings, general and then calm screen). Does anyone know if there is a calm screen shortcut. I have seen it on other Ford vehicles but not the Edge. Anybody know if there is? Such a great feature to have, just a pain in the neck to activate, especially when driving. Thanks
  4. Good information! Seems Ford has overlooked the importance of TRANSMISSION. PTU AND RDU fluid changes. Since these service intervals no longer exist in the current (digital) owner's manuals. What are the recommended intervals??
  5. I agree. But these oil pump belt failures are occurring long after the factory warranty expires. Oil is oil, I get it. But it's all about the additive packages the individual manufacturers put in the base oil that may be in question. Certain chemicals (additives) may have a long-term acceleration of the belt deterioration. Just for thought?
  6. I guess it makes sense that Ford is going to only recommend Motorcraft, since it is their oil. Sales for sure. I think rather than risk the possibility of an oil pump belt failure due to using an oil NOT recommended by Ford, I will stick with Motorcraft for sure! Thanks for the info.
  7. Thank you so much for that information. I had a 2021 ST and after about 5000 miles it did the same exact thing! When I would push up on the sunshade or open it the tiniest bit the problem would disappear! So irritating! I recently traded in for a 2024, but I am sure in time this will happen. Thank you!!!
  8. Coming in late on this thread, the dealer uses Motorcraft 5w-30 semi synthetic and the say it is what Ford recommends. I was surprised they use semi instead of full synthetic. With the twin turbos on the ST I go about 4000 (no more than 4500) between oil changes. Past 5000 on a turbo engine seems to be pushing it a bit. Seems like if Ford recommends it, go with it??? My concern is the belt driven oil pump. I have read stories that possibly premature belt failures (followed by engine failures) could be linked to the customer using oils other than what ford recommends. I am not sure how true this is?? Makes no sense to use a rubber belt bathed in oil to drive the 'Heart" of the engine, but couldn't certain additive packages in certain oils accelerate deterioration of this critical belt? I literally have no clue how much truth there is to this, but I thought it would be good for conversation. Thanks
  9. A printed manual is pretty nice to have. So nice to flip to a page and have it all right there in front of you. Nice to have a choice.
  10. I am pretty sure you do not have that option. I don't think it was ever offered on the Edge.
  11. Other than considering a Borla exhaust system (sounds way cool) I would just leave it the way it is. Ford did a great job on the mods.
  12. Far from hogwash. And the wear and tear on the flywheel ring gear and starter is just as bad. That is why the flywheel ring gear is not covered under any of fords extended warranty plans. Auto start and stop is horrible for an engine. Just like stop and go driving is much harder on an engine than highway driving. Disable it every time. I put a reminder above my start stop button, but there are aftermarket fix's that will add memory to the last setting.
  13. Kudo to garycrist! Auto start and stop is not good for a turbocharged engine! The fuel savings is nothing compared to the long-term wear and tear.
  14. Learn something new every day. Great information. Thanks for that.
  15. The available ST Performance Brake Package includes 21-inch premium gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, front and rear vented disc brakes, unique front rotors, Colorado Red-painted brake calipers, brushless radiator cooling fan, performance brake pads, summer-only tires and vented brake shields. Got this from the Ford website. They aren't Brembo. One thing I could never figure out is the Brushless Radiator Fan. Why would they use this?
  16. I totally disagree. I bought my 21 and 24 (traded in) with the Performance Brake and Tire Package. Best choice you could make. After all it's an ST, not an ST Line. Why cut the car short on performance and handling just to save a few bucks. I do understand if you live in colder climates this might not be an option, but it really allows the vehicle to perform like a TRU ST. And it adds an awesome performance look! That being said, it sounds like the dealer is trying to make a few bucks. I drove my 21 pretty hard (at times) and took advantage of the tires and brakes on some good twisting winding roads to enjoy it for those exact reasons. When I traded it in at 12k, the tires showed some wear, but were still at 75%, brakes were fine. Both vehicles do not (and never have) squealed when stopping at a light. That is a bunch of dealer BS. They don't want to deal with it and are lying to you. You like the look of the vehicle and sounds like you drive relatively passively, you should have not had to replace those items so soon. Regarding all tires have to be the same or they will mess up the all-wheel drive, that only means they all need to be the same size. Brand is your choice. The battery should have lasted longer, but sometimes they fail early. Under warranty, your advantage. You do have to be careful nowadays as there are a lot of dealers who are crooked and will try to take advantage. At the same time there are some good ones too and hopefully a lot more than the bad ones. You are doing the right thing by asking questions
  17. My 2021 Edge ST came with no hood insulator. I could tell it should be there, so I paid 127 dollars and installed it myself. Recently traded in my 2021 for a 2024. First thing I did was transferred my hood insulator to my 2024 and the center console try too. Shame on Ford!
  18. There is a pretty cool YouTube video, I think it is called 2019 Ford Edge St-top 10 things you need to know. It is by -The Fast Lane Car. It shows the difference between the Ford edge ST and the regular edge. There are a lot a differences in the suspension. It is a whole different animal than all other Edges (including the Edge Sport). Watch the video and it will give you some insight on how to possibly stiffen things up.
  19. I have mine set on the highest sensitivity setting. I would rather have it be a bit over reactive than under reactive. Keeps me alert and reminds me to be not so complaisant. It might not be a perfect system, but one day it might save my ass!
  20. I don't understand why the PTU and RDU aren't listed as routine service items in the owner's manual. How can any car manufacturer expect any fluid to last the life of the vehicle. Seem like all the PTU failures I've heard about are because of fluid that has never been changed. Also heard stories about Ford Dealerships that didn't even know about the PTU or RDU service! Thanks for the update! Looks like I might have to do those fluid changes myself one day, I don't know if My Ford Dealership is capable.šŸ™ƒ
  21. I waited to buy my 2021 for the 12-inch touchscreen specifically. Glad I did it, especially when you are using the navigation screen. The detail is amazing in 3D. I do wish you had more physical knobs as a backup for the climate control. It really looks nice once you get used to it. Sync 4 is a big advance over Sync 3 for sure.
  22. I have a 24 as well. My seat does not make any noise like you explained. Sit in the passenger seat and get a 'sound reference' so you can compare. Has this been there since new? Maybe use a flashlight and do a good visual inspection to see if there is anything causing this??
  23. It sucks that one mile or one day out of warranty they can deny a claim. Whatever happened to good will? I think Ford is so overwhelmed with recalls and warranty claims that they are maxed out big time.
  24. i am curious to know what glare-free highbeam is? I have auto highbeam on my 2024 St but haven't played with it enough to see if I would use it.That's a big problem with the newest cars/SUV's etc. There are a lot of cool options. But at the end of the day-are you better to go back to the 'old school' method of manually controlling the high beams yourself.
