Thank you Haz! Much appreciated. Jim

Ok I have a 2024 Edge ST. For some reason I could not find it in the digital owner's manual in the vehicle, but I will check again. Sure miss the 'old school' printed manual ! Thanks for the help

OK. I am going to use Amsoil for both. But are they different? Which one do I use in the RDU? PTU? Thanks so much guys for all your help.
-
Just curious to know what fluid is used in the RDU and is there a better aftermarket alternative. I plan on doing mine soon. Also the same question for the PTU. I think they are different fluids???

Thanks for the clarification. Based on that, my 2024 Edge does have hill start assist. It does not have auto hold. I am positive that my 2021 also had the same. It seems like there is some confusion regarding auto hold which is a physical button and not an option on the Edge?

I can confirm that my 2024 Edge ST has auto hold. I can't remember how to turn it on and off, but it does exist. It also was active on my 2021 Edge.

2024 Edge rattle noise from rear cargo trim panel
STBEAST replied to lasseventies's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
Hard to tell if it's the same as the Reddit post. But very similar for sure. The sound you recorded, and the location of the noise are the same though. Something behind that vent for sure.- 21 replies

2024 Edge rattle noise from rear cargo trim panel
STBEAST replied to lasseventies's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
I seem to think the noise could be coming from anywhere in that area, we are just hearing it through the vent. I also seem to remember that noise wasn't there a couple thousand miles ago. When I first noticed it, I would be above 70-75 mph, but over time it seems to have gotten noticeable at lower speeds. I can almost say without a doubt that you and I are having the same issue. I will keep you posted if I get any information as well. Please keep me posted, I am going try and tackle the rattle in my cargo door panel. It has become constant and very irritating, Jim- 21 replies

2024 Edge rattle noise from rear cargo trim panel
STBEAST replied to lasseventies's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
Wow! I listened to your recording and I too have the same thing happening. VERY similar sound! Interesting! I have a 2024 Edge ST with 6400 miles. At speeds above 60 MPH I hear a rattle/squeaking sound coming from the vent area highlighted. I sat back there while my girlfriend drove and it is behind that vent. WOW, same exact area. It seems to be speed related, not bumps in the road. Below 60 it seems to go away no matter how rough the road is. Almost like it is wind related. I was going to pop the vent out and see what I could find. Unless there is a TST or Service Bulletin, the dealers are pretty much worthless with this kind of thing. I also have a rattle in the right rear corner of the hatch back trim panel (right where the handle is that you would grab to close the rear door). It is present when you hit the slightest bump and is more noticeable once the car and interior are warm. I tried pushing on the panel while driving but it is inside the rear hatch door?????- 21 replies

It's nice that they will let you order the front set or rear instead of the whole set only. My back seats hardly ever get sat in so the Ford OEM mats will probably last the life of the car. But the fronts will need to be replaced eventually. Those look a lot nicer that the Weathertech too! Thanks for the pics.

I did a bit of research, and the Ford Premium Care Plan is by far the best, as it covers almost everything. And they will use OEM. 8 years is 5 years past the standard so it really made sense for me to do it. With all the technology and gadgets, something will have issues.
-
When I bought my 2024 Edge ST, they offered me the Ford Premium Care ESP for $1,745. It was for 8 years or 60K, whichever comes first. Since I only drive 5-6K a year, it was a no brainer. I believe the Premium Care plan pretty much covers everything. I hope! I cannot believe with all the new technology (crap) on these cars today, that they will go for too many years without something failing. And with my luck, something major will happen right after the warranty expires! š£

Not to sidetrack this thread, but after 40 years plus as an outboard mechanic I can honestly say without a doubt that OEM is the best option. When you go aftermarket, you are rolling dice. Of course this does not apply to everything, but I cannot tell you how much crap is out there. Especially when it comes to electrical components. I don't mean to bash aftermarket, but you truly get what you pay for.

Insert for compartment located on console
STBEAST replied to Keith1341's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
I bought my hood insulator blanket directly from ford. I didn't pursue the engine cover, but I agree it would be a nice way to hide all the wiring and hoses that are exposed. The hood insulator came with all the retaining clips and was very easy to install. I think it was about 140 bucks. Not sure why Ford chose to stop using it, other than saving a few bucks. It looks funny without it for sure. -
The factory installed tow package looks like this, on the ST at least. Ford did an amazing job on blending it in cosmetically,

I drove a 2019 ST at the SUV performance school and Utah and could see why they eliminated the second gear. When the vehicle shifted from second to third the RPMs barely changed at all. Almost like there was no need for ONE of the two gears (2nd or 3rd). The ratios were way too close. Now that I have a 2024 ST with the 7 speed the RPM change is much more noticeable because essentially it is going from first to third (eliminating the 2nd). I am really surprised they didn't design it that way from the beginning.

I have a 2024 ST and here are few things I can say. In 21 they went to the bigger touchscreen (sync 4) which is kind of game changer. The navigation screen is awesome! I got the 401A package which gave me the sunroof and heated seats/steering wheel. I have gotten spoiled the heated steering wheel for sure. I did get the performance brake and tire package which is great because you get the bigger calipers and rotors. The only issue is they come (only) with summer tires which work good for where I live, but not good in your climate. They should offer that package with a few different tire options, but they don't. Also, in 21 they went to a 7-speed transmission (via programming) and helps with the performance. I drove both and the 7 speed is an improvement. Hope some of this helps.

Windshield Replacement
STBEAST replied to 1004ron's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Sounds like you have 'courtesy wipe' turned on. Go into your vehicle settings and turn it off. -
Sounds like we are hearing the same sound. A clicking/popping metallic sound that is random, but definitely more active when you hit bumps in the road. One thing I noticed, when it is cold outside and the car sits overnight, the sound doesn't start until the car warms up in the sun and in the cabin. I too have no faith in my dealer and plan on fixing it myself. I am taking the car in for routine service, and I am going to tell the service writer about the issue. I am going to ask if there are any service bulletins and or TST's regarding this. I also plan on sitting in the back seat and having someone else drive, to help verify where the noise is coming from. Amazing how something like a small clip can cause so much headache. I am wondering if it could be the bar itself moving when there is flexing in this area? Also I saw a video where the headliner is very easy to release to gain more access to that area. It uses a series of clips and magnets to hold the headliner in place.
-
Well, I traded my 21 in for a 2024 ST and after about 5300 miles I am hearing the clicking/ticking/popping sound so many of you described. Could anyone provide me a better description of where that bar is located? I did see the great pictures (and fix) provided by EdgeST2020 but just wanted to verify the location of that bar. Thanks so much! I know taking it to the dealer would just be a waste of time, so I will fix it myself.
-
There are too many different forum choices, but I think picked the right one. I have a 2024 Edge St. I have about 5500 miles. At about 3500 miles I noticed a faint metallic speaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. I noticed it only happened about 65 mph or higher, so I thought it was from the wind. It started get worse, louder and at a slower speed, I had someone drive while I sat in the back seat behind the driver. At around 55 mph I start to hear this squeak (metal on metal). I have narrowed it down to coming from the vent above the rear left wheel well in the cargo storage area. I believe I can take out my cargo cover (where it clips in) and remove the vent, but it looks like I will eventually have to remove the driver side rear cargo area trim side cover. I was wondering if anyone has had this. It does seem to be related to speed and possibly wind as it only happens at higher speeds and the bumps in the road don't seem to be the issue. Thanks to all for any ideas. Jim As most of you know taking it to the dealer would be a waste of time as they hate to look for squeaks and rattles. Even under warranty.

I believe everything is normal. In freezing weather, the system is incapable of making the seats cooler (it would be ineffective) and would not activate. It makes sense. When I turn mine on, the fan speed runs faster on the high setting and slower on the low setting. It seems to be constant. The cooling system is definitely TED that's why it gets cold so fast. The fan is only used for cooling and there is no fan with heating. There are so many posts to this thread so I didn't read too far back but hope this helps.

Cruise Control alarm bell 2024 Edge
STBEAST replied to mooseboy's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I use the adaptive cruise control and lane centering quite often. I turn off the lane keeping system when I do this. The lane centering system and lane keeping system are two totally different systems with different responses and alerts. That being said. When I am using the adaptive cruise control with the lane centering system activated, it is not uncommon for me to get an alert when the system loses track of the lanes. There is also a green to orange/ yellow color change letting me know what is going on (left or right lane). Depending on where I am driving and the road conditions this system will constantly alert you to let you know it has lost a reading of the left or right lane. There are so many posts to this thread, so I didn't read very far back but you can use the adaptive cruise control with the lane centering off and lane keeping on. That being said either system will send an alert when it loses track of the lanes. This alert seems to be more frequent when the cruise control is active. I forgot to mention a have a 2024 ST as well. -
About a third of today's vehicles no longer have a spare tire. This is done to reduce cost, increase storage space and reduce weight. I believe about 90 percent of today's generation couldn't change a spare tire anyway! I might be wrong on the percentage (it could be higher!). Mine ST came with a pretty high-tech inflator/sealer to substitute the lack of spare. It looks like it would work great for a screw or nail. But anything beyond that I have to get towed. Bummer. I wonder if they make a 21-inch donut??? š
