I have 2024 ST with just over 10 thousand miles. While on a trip I was driving with the adaptive cruise control engaged, when out of nowhere the system deactivated followed by a string of alerts in the message box on the dash: cruise control not available, ABS system disabled, traction control disabled and hill start assist not available. Three warning lights illuminated (ABS, Brake and Traction Control). I pulled over and shut the vehicle off, waited a minute and restarted it. Everything went back to normal. About an hour later the same thing happened. The vehicle drives like normal when this happens. I drove to my hotel for the night and the next day all was well, for about 2 1/2 hours. It did it again and since the car drives like everything is ok, I finished my trip. I am still under warranty, and I have contacted the dealer for an appointment. I also got a string of 3 messages on my Ford Pass App, multiple times. One of them alludes to the fact that the Anti-Lock Brake Module may have failed. Just curious if anyone has encountered this. I don't have a lot of faith in my dealer, and I think the more I know, the better off I am. Thanks so Much. Sorry for the dash pic upside down.

It could be something as simple as a software update or reprogramming.

Rick P, not sure if I would worry about cleaning the intake valves. That was an issue with early DFI motors but not so much anymore. I am spot on with garycrist. Run good fuel, 91 octane. You can't go wrong with top tier like Chevron or Shell. Chevron Techron is an amazing product and if you use it as recommended you will not have issues. I too agree with you 100% change the RDU/PTU/ATF at 30K and you are doing the best.

I just took my 2024 ST in for routine service, and I noticed on my service receipt manufacturers recall for a Transmission Control Assembly reimbursement. It is coded as 25L02. The dealer did not mention it to me; they probably didn't want to deal with it unless I was having an issue. It is not called a recall. Ford calls it a Customer Satisfaction Program, and it is Campaign #25L02. I am guessing there could be an issue with this assembly and it does not specify the symptoms. From what I googled Ford offers replacement in or out of warranty. Can anyone provide more details on this? I am going to call my Ford dealer and get more info. I am at 9,000 miles and I think there might be a slight clunk when I shift into reverse, but I need to verify as it has only happened a few times, and it coud be me not setting the parking brake. Also notice the transmission occasionally does a bit of an erratic shift (up or down) but it may be when I get on the throttle. Over all it seems fine.

There is a voluntary warranty repair being offered by Ford under the Customer Satisfaction Program. Code 25L02 is to replace the Transmission Control Assembly for my 2024 Ford edge ST. I believe it covers all Edge ST's in or out of warranty. I noticed it on my most recent service receipt from my local dealer, even though they did not mention it to me when I took the vehicle in for service. Guess they don't want to deal with it unless the customer has a complaint. Go on the website. It is not listed as a recall; it is called a Customer Satisfaction Program campaign. Can google it for more detail. The specifics are not detailed but I am thinking this assembly is known to have issues. Anyone on the forum with more info. please let us know. Thanks

Just bought a quart of Redline 75W85 GL-5 for the PTU and a quart of MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 for the RDU. Planning on doing the first fluid changes on the 2024 ST somewhere between 10-15K. I know this is a bit early, but after all the horror stories, seems like a good idea. Peace of mind too.

Sometimes more than not it can be a challenge to locate a specific thread on this forum. Even if you go to a specific sub forum, if you don't have the wording exact, you may not be able to find the thread. One thing you can do is google a specific issue or subject related to the Ford Edge and it will direct you to a thread/post within this Ford Edge Forum.

Great information todd92. The 2019-2024 Edge uses 75w85 GL5 as it is a totally different PTU than older models.

AWD and 4WD are very different. I don't think whatever you are trying to do is even worth trying. If you want 4WD, buy a vehicle with 4WD. What Edge and what year do you have. For example, the Edge ST has an AWD Sport Mode (double tap the ESC button) that makes the AWD system much more active and aggressive. What model/year do you have?

After having a few serious issues with my 2021 ST, I decided too purchased an extended warranty. 8 Year/60K, I only drive about 5K a year. I called ford corporate to verify the warranty and kept a copy of the transcript. I have heard too many stories of people having issues right out of warranty, it gave me piece of mind, and I am glad I did it. I hope I never have to use it; I hope my dealer goes to bat for me if I ever do. So sad to see dealers take advantage of their own customers.

Monroe or any current model New Strut Bad out the box
STBEAST replied to EdgeAWD's topic in 2009 Edge & MKX
A lot of changes from the Ford Edge Sport to the ST. They stiffened the front springs by 10%, the rear springs by 20%. They went from a twin tube to a monotube shock. Not sure of the brand, but a big performance boost! Does anyone know what brand they use on a stock ST? -
I love the P Zeros on my Edge. I live in warmer weather so cold is not much of an issue. I plan on going with Scorpion Zeros when I have to replace them.
-
Spectre, could you please provide more pictures. Would love to replace my 265 P Zeros with 295 when the time comes.

I don't think you can go wrong with Valvoline. Seems like you are making a good choice. With regards to the change from 75w140 to 75w85 for the PTU- It could be just like the motor oil, for better fuel economy. And better flow for improved cooling and performance.

I went on the Amsoil website and found the 75w85 for the PTU, but did not find the 75w specifically to the RDU. Does Amsoil have a compatible RDU fluid? Redline offers a full synthetic 75w for the RDU.

Davidoo, thank you for locating that thread. I actually made a couple of post and ended up putting one of those felt pads underneath the clip. fishx65 suggested it in a post and I did the same thing. I will keep everyone posted. I noticed in your last post on that thread you stated that the noise had come back on your 22 ST and it wasn't the bar? Do you have any updates on your situation regarding this? Thanks

I'm not sure when this all started but my 2021 edge ST had a liquid cooled PTU. I also saw a thread where some PTU's had an electric fan attached to the PTU. Have you climbed under and inspected your PTU? I guessing your year is before they started addressing the PTU heat issues, but maybe worth a check. I think the best defense with Ford's PTU is a fluid change every 20-30K.

Not to get off track (no pun intended) but I have a 2024 ST with about 9000 miles. About 2 months ago I noticed a metallic popping/tapping/snapping sound coming from the right rear corner of the moonroof area. Right side rear corner. Doesn't matter if the shade or the moonroof is open or closed. It happens on bumpy roads and it is not there when it is cold out. It seems as the sun warms the top of the car, this noise becomes more noticeable. Thanks for any suggestions. And yes, turning the stereo up is a solution!

2020 Ford Edge RDU Fluid Replacement Observations
STBEAST replied to MLLI18's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
If you have the liquid cooled ptu you can remove the nuts and pry the cooler way from the ptu about 1/2 inch and drain the fluid. If you have the non-cooled ptu you could remove the cap where the cooler would be. -
I agree. When it comes to parts you can't go wrong with OEM. It's a no brainer. But when it comes to lubricants, in many cases there are better options. And there are some good ones: Amsoil, Red Line and Motul are by far the best. The key is Full Synthetic. I plan on going with Red Line for my PTU/RDU. Any suggestions from you guys on the transmission fluid? That's the one I haven't done any research on.
-
My 2024 has the cooler as well. There was a previous thread where someone pulled the cooler out just enough to let the fluid drain out and put it back in using the same studs and o ring. One disadvantage to the cooler: it takes up more space in the ptu, reducing fluid capacity. Not sure how beneficial circulation 200 degree (plus) through the cooler could do much to help.

You lift out the tray.

I too am looking for a good alternative, I have the performance brake and tire package which came with the 21" P Zeros. The ST front suspension stiffness in increased by 10% and the rear suspension in increased by about 20%. They also use a monotube shock instead of a twin tube. And they use a solid tube sway bar instead of a hollow tube. I know the ST wasn't designed to be as comfortable as the base edge, so it is going to ride differently.

Yes. My 2021 had it. Sounds like it's coming from the speakers. Mainly the driver's side/forward area. I too complained about it with no answer or resolution. I traded in for a 2024 last year and it too has it but seems to be less aggressive. I went to the Ford ST SUV experience in Park City Utah last year and had a change to drive a 2019 ST for the day. I also noticed the sound, but it seemed to be much less than my 2021/2024 so I assumed it was normal. Very irritating and seems most noticeable when the car downshifts from 3rd-2nd-1st. My solution was to turn up the music. Jim
