  1. When the vehicle leaves the assembly plant, it is stored in a staging yard for pick-up by the carrier. The trucking/rail line will select vehicles for transport based on the routes available and vehicles ready for shipping to optomize their delivery scheduling. Consequently, a vheicle may be picked up the first day out of the plant or a week or so later. Some vehicles are carried to another staging yard before final dlivery. So, as they say."YMMV."

  3. Sounds like surface rust on the rotors - once it is rubbed off, noise gone. It only takes a few hours to develop again in damp weather.
  4. Also look at a 27 month lease. On our Mariners, the residual was the same as a 24 month lease - three months longer for about the same total cost.
  5. I think he got $500 below X-Plan. Wonder what VinCent had (More than the 3% commission???) But, I love Cops so I hope he got a great deal! I got one of the $500 coupons but could not use it with A/Z/D and it only had a 2 week window of opportunity. Would have been good with X-Plan. That would make it sweet. Keep going on the Ford sites and requesting brochures.
  6. Same issue. I'm reading that the LEDs are not good for our needs - the reflective properties of the lamp assembly don't work well with LED bulbs. I have not found a bulb with greater lumens or higher wattage with the same base. Some owners have put fog lamp bulbs and sockets in the back-up lamp housing, but that seems like overkill. Search for high power bulbs with your bulb number (Mine is a 921) and see what others have tried. Most that spent big bucks for LEDs are dissapointed. Report back if you find a solution.
  7. Plan sales are optional for the dealers. Some will refuse the sale if you did not divulge that it was a Plan purchase up front. If they over valued your trade assuming you were buying retail, they would have the right to revalue the trade/deal if you came up later with a PIN.
  8. As a Ford stockholder (over 6 months and 100 shares or more) you would be eligible for X-Plan - in case you didn't know that yet. Last I heard, 20" wheels were a controlled commodity. Does the dealership have current allocation for them? If not, you may have a long wait for scheduling. Good luck.
  9. Check the paint and make sure the vehicle has all the options you ordered. You can read the owner's manual online and get a copy of your window sticker now if you wish. The information and document signings will come at you so fast that you may want to have your questions prepared beforehand. Take the cell phome(s) that you want paired if you want help doing that.   10. A "Plan" buyer (AXZD) should have the sales manager run a VinCent report on the VIN for the vehicle you are considering purchasing. That will tell you all the incentives that might be available on that vehicle, registered in your ZIP on that day. Sometimes, coupons are for "retail" only which would not include AXZD purchases. Doc fees are fixed along with the price of the vehicle. You can negotiate ESP contract, trade-in allowance, dealer accessories, etc. You sure want to know your finance rate options (credit union, bank, FMCC) before you sign anything. You are not permitted to demand anything free on top of the plan price, but you don't have to pay full retial on the aftersale items. Remember prices very around the country and at different times. When the local dealer association puts extra incentives on a model to move inventory, they do it for specific zip codes. Sometimes specific models with specific options get different incentives so comparisons get muddy. Identical vehicles in 4 different markets could have 4 different "prices". You only get what is allowed for your zip code - no matter where you buy the vehicle.

If the dealership says they don't need the PIN, then there is usually a better deal for them than the commission on the X-Plan.

Most people ordering vehicles would not know to ask if the dealership has current allocation, when they will have allocation, what priority the dealership will put on the order, if any commodities are in short supply, when will the plant be down and will they place orders after mine with a "higher" priority. Most dealerships will not volunteer that they don't have allocation for another month or that they might place a later order ahead of yours by giving it a higher priority. They might tell you there is a shortage of big wheels, or another option you want, just to try to get you to order differently. If there is a delay (based on your expectations) they will infer it is a Ford problem, where in reality, dealerships control most of the scheduling within their allocation.

  15. Whenever I hear that the dealership will not provide scheduling information, I question if they had allocation for the order or if they submitted later orders with a higher priority. Dealerships control much of the scheduling. They are given allocation each order cycle and they place a priority on the units they want built first. If they give every unit the same priority, then it's first in - first scheduled. If commodities are in short supply, the plant will hold back selected units for production. The day after the dealership submits a retail order to Ford they should get a DORA (dealer order acknowledgement). Every Thur. evening the scheduling system is updated so Fri. is the best day to check to see if you are scheduled and get the latest status.
  16. Seating the rings means forming the contact edge of the rings so that they scrape the inside of the cylinder as they travel up and down. This provides better protection from oil gatting into the combustion chamber and exhaust blow-by into the crankcase. Depending on how the vehicle is driven, the rings should seat in 1,000 miles. I would wait until 3,000 miles at the earliest (just to be sure) to go full synthetic unless you are in a very cold climate (in which case I would go to a 0W20 full synthetic.) Switching to a full synthetic too early can permit the rings to form rounded contact surfaces which will not clean the cylinder walls as effectively, and may permit blow-by and reduced compression. This can lead to excessive oil consumption and shorter spark plug life.

  18. Most vehicle scheduling is controlled by the selling dealership (through order prioritization within the dealer's allocation). The plant controlls scheduling when there are "commodity issues". Your dealership can access their news bulletin and it will tell them if there are shortages of specific parts (like wheels) that prevent a vehicle from being scheduled. So, if that is what they did and what they told you, Yes, it makes sense.
  19. Covered several times in different threads - BUT "It's not an order until Ford accepts it". Ask for the DORA and check the date - that is when Ford acknowleged the order. A dealership can take an order from you, but Ford won't accept the order until the dealership has allocation. Even then, the dealership can put an order in later than yours (with a higher priority) and push yours back for scheduling. Comparing delivery timing is only valid if everyone knows what the DORA dates were and the priorities (and if other people's orders got pushed ahead by the dealerships.) Dealer personnel will often blame Ford for "delays" when in fact the dealerships control the build scheduling (with few exceptions.)
  20. Im major metropolitan areas, there will be one or more Ford authorized radio exchange/repair stations. They are usually the most knowledgeable about new products and what can be later installed/modified. Ask your service advisor who their radio exchange station is and contract them direct. One less set of ears (and opportunity for misintrepretation) in the process. Post back if you get any good insight.
  21. The Ford scheduling system is updated on thur. evenings. Call your dealership on Fri. for the latest status. There used to be a number you could call and pretend you were the dealership and get status, but it got overwhelmed so it now requires a password. Once the vehicle is built, the SYNC website will have the build date information associated with your VIN.

    Then it means something changed, so it is "new" all over again. Look, you are worrying about nothing. If your sales person already knows what the changes are for Job 2, see if you want those changes or if you want it as first released. The longer you wait the higher the pricing level.
  23. I talked with their design engineer, Jack Stands, and he said they were working on a variable displacement shift knob and and a complete line of universal joints to be marketed under the trade name "Housa".
