  1. Did you notice the completely different LED lights surrounding the headlamps rather than low down on the bumper of north American cars? (At 3:04 in the movie). I like those euro ones. This seems like Ford's attempt to imitate the BMW movies from many years ago. I remember the one with Clive Owen that was pretty good. I read that BMW is making new ones now.
  2. i did this and it seems to have improved the situation. i haven't tested it that many times since i rarely fold the rear seats down.
  3. i had that on my 2009 edge. it leaves the edge of the bumper exposed and that's where you get chips and scratches. not good. weather tech has a liner with bumper protection that rolls out. i haven't tried it but it looks like a decent solution. http://www.weathertech.com/ford/2015/edge/cargo-liner/
  4. when i test drove a 2016 edge that had adaptive steering, it was very noticeable pulling out of the dealer lot. it just quickens the steering at slow speeds and does nothing at city or highway speeds. my totally subjective opinion is that it's nice but i wouldn't pay for a package to get it. maybe if it were a hundred bucks or even two, i would get it but not as part of a more expensive package of stuff i don't want/need. i think you would get used to it very quickly and its novelty would disappear. therefore it is of limited value. i don't find it a problem turning the wheel a half-turn rather than a quarter-turn (those are just random amounts, i have no idea of changes in the ratio). i got my car without it and it's fine.
  5. i can hear the motor and i can hear the latch disengage. the seat moves a tiny bit but just doesn't pop forward. my '09 worked perfectly seat is not reclined. it appears as though the spring is just not strong enough to pop it forward when the latch disengages. i'll let the dealer take care of it, if they can, but i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. interesting that TourGuide has the identical problem.
  6. i've had my 2016 titanium for a little over a month now and have come across a small problem. when i press the "easyfold" button on the left rear quarter panel in the storage area to fold the seats, the left (driver) side rear seat does not go down on its own. right side works fine and i can manually fold the seat from the rear driver side door. it just doesn't work with the button. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if so, did you find an easy solution. my dealer offers a complimentary 90 day check-up so i will raise the issue with them then but just seeing if there's an easy fix i can do on my own.
  7. Ironically I thought the Ford was a little louder this time around, but soon realized it's because it's so quiet, I can actually hear passing cars. I've got my spreadsheet with my "must have's" and "wants". Haven't scored/ranked the wants yet. For example, even though I've not tested it, the Adaptive Steering and self-parking are desirable. Hyundai/Ford have ability for smartphone remote start. Kia does not (without aftermarket installations). and will have to custom-order a 2017, but not terribly keen on that if it's only been out 2 months (who knows what new things might not work). i just traded my '09 limited AWD 3.5l for a '16 titanium AWD 3.5l and so far have found the new one to be fantastic. I didn't look at the kia or hyundai though so i can not compare. i believe the '16 has acoustic glass on the windshield and side windows. and IIRC, it has active noise cancellation as well. I find my new one to be extremely quiet but have noticed that the hankooks that came on the standard 19" wheels are noisy as heck at 100kph. i will change those next spring. the test model i drove had adaptive steering and it was nice although i wouldn't spend any money on it. it's one of those things that's "different" when you first drive it but then it doesn't really matter. i didn't get it because it was only available as part of a package of things i didn't want. self parking and all the bells and whistles is another thing that i don't "need." i have been driving a friend's range rover with the self parking and i find that i can park better and faster than it can. it will reject spaces that i have no problem getting in to. i believe that remote start is standard, at least on the titanium and sport, since my car has it. it's on the key. and finally, the '17 probably won't have any major changes so i would guess that it's unlikely to have any new problems.
  8. I don't know if there's a difference but maybe the MKX has more sound deadening? It wasn't extreme by any means. It was actually quite seldom but still noticeable. One thing that really bugged me was the high pitch whine from the fuel pump. I don't see why this is "laughable," it's a very large container that's filled with liquid that's being sloshed around. Maybe higher end cars have some sort of baffle system in the tank. Having said that, I haven't noticed it in my '16 yet.
  9. this is a long shot but is there anything in your purse that could be blocking the signal like one of those RFID shields that people use to protect their credit cards or passports?
  10. i heard this a lot on my '09 edge and i've heard it on other cars as well.
  11. no, unfortunately not but that was exactly the reason i ordered the brochure (thanks to the discussion on this forum.) but i did have a nice surprise of an extra $750 off when i went to pick up the car though
  12. I filled out the online request for a paper brochure to be sent to me at the end of April. I ended up ordering my Edge a day after. Ford built and shipped my Edge, including the 2+ weeks it was sitting in the train yard here, in just under six weeks. I just got the brochure today, a full week after I got my Edge. almost seven weeks after I requested it.
  13. was beginning to wonder if i had been hallucinating but i found it at last, right here in this forum no less. here (post 23): 2016 Edge Color - Upholstery - Wheel Guide - 17-Feb-2016.pdf
  14. Thanks but that's for the exterior colors. The chart I saw had a breakdown of many different interior areas like upper dash, lower dash, carpets, roof liner, etc. It gives the names of what color each component is depending on what color interior you get. When you get a cognac color interior, some areas are black and other areas are a light sand color. This chart tells you what is what.
  15. got my edge and thought i'd post the answers to my own questions in case anyone in the future wonders about the same thing. i didn't get Nav and still got the shark fin. there is a spare tire and it's a mini heated steering wheel is the same with or without heating. don't know about diameter but after driving my own rather than the demo, it feels about the same as the '09 no auto start/stop on my 3.5 liter V6 don't know about the tail lights on the SE and SEL don't know about the interior trim no camera button without front camera no blank buttons anywhere for options that i didn't purchase.
  16. i was going through the functions on my new 2016 Edge and came across a couple of areas where there is a bit of ambiguity in the owner's manual. first, when i go to climate control on the sync 3 display, there is no button for the rear seats. is that button only for the seat heating? i was under the impression that it was for the HVAC as well but since i didn't get the rear seat heating and the button is not there i am now assuming that the button is only for the seat heating. second, when i go to settings/clock there are options for 12/24 hour display and to reset the time using the GPS. when i press the set the time to GPS button, it sets the time but it is two hours off (early). i see a message stating that the system does not take daylight savings into account. there is no button for setting the time zone as indicated in the manual. i don't have navigation but that doesn't immediately seem to be the problem because the time sets to the correct minute, just two hours early. when i'm in our underground parking and press the set to gps time, i get a message stating that "gps data unavailable. please try again later" so i assume that it normally does pick up the signal despite me not having nav. why can't i set the time zone so the clock is right?
  17. ok, just got back upstairs and indeed, you can open the door with the handle and yes, the alarm goes off. i too am wondering what the purpose of the switch inhibit feature is. i can't think of anything.
  18. when i was researching the 2016 edge, i came across a color chart that listed the colors of different areas of the interior for each interior color choice. for example, if you order ebony black, then upper and lower dash are black, carpet black, the roof liner is a sand color, etc. i've been trying to find that chart again and i simply can't. i would be very grateful to anyone who could point me in the right direction. my goal is to find the color of the visors so that i can find something to cover the airbag warning decals with. i don't want to remove them with alcohol. i've done that before and have not been satisfied with the results.
  19. good point. the manual says you can turn on the ignition. i wonder if just touching the start button without a key would work. i'll try and test that next time i go to the car which might be this afternoon. i'll post results here.
  20. I just picked up my '16 and was going through the owner's manual and had the same question. omar302 is correct. from p58: "When you electronically lock your vehicle, the power door lock switch no longer operates after 20 seconds. You must unlock your vehicle with the remote control or keyless keypad, or switch the ignition on, to restore function to these switches. You can switch this feature on or off in the information display."
  21. oh joy. i've got a new titanium coming with the standard 19" wheels. can't wait to have hankooks i was going through photos on the web of 2016 edges at dealers throughout the US and Canada and did find a reasonably strong correlation of wheel size and tire brand as ONEDGE16 says.
  22. i believe that manufacturers have multiple tire suppliers so that any supply problems won't stop production of the vehicles. my '09 came with 20" chrome-clad (not my choice) wheels and Pirelli Scorpion A/S tires. I wasn't very happy with them as they had no traction in light snow and they got very noisy at 20k km. now i'm waiting for my factory order '16 titanium with 19" stock wheels and wondering what tires come on the edge these days. reading some other posts in this forum, i see that some people have the pirelli scorpion verde and others have michelin latitudes. any other brands come from the factory? what tires (brand, model, and size) came on your edge from the factory?
  23. it appears that they might not rotate with the wheel, thus easy to wire. that's my guess.
  24. thanks again for the comments ladies and gents. having done some more sleuthing i think i can answer some more of my own questions. it appears that there are no blank buttons for options that you don't have. i found photos online of the center stack for cars that didn't have the front camera or the self-parking or the cooled seats and there were no blanks in their place. i really dislike having blanks there to remind me that i was too cheap to pay for those features. the other thing that i found was that the shadow black is not at all metallic like the 2015 tuxedo black. shadow black is much blacker. i couldn't detect any flake but there did seem to be some depth to it. the car was dirty so i couldn't really see but my guess is that a freshly waxed shadow black edge will be gorgeous. i looked at the difference between the interiors in the SE, SEL, and Titanium and the Titanium seemed to have more bright trim as per question 7 above. so now i'll just be waiting for my edge to arrive. going to be a long wait i can see!
