Kontra
I read up a bunch about all-weather (rubber) floor mats on this forum. Now that there's a new slew of 2008 owners on here I was curious as to what mats you'd all be purchasing to protect ur Edge from the upcoming winter season. I am tossed up between the Ford branded mats for the front and back seats and the weathertech liners. Can anybody offer differences between the two besides the price? (weathertech costs more) I will be purchasing the weathertech liner for the trunk/cargo floor because I've heard good things and Ford doesn't offer a mat through them. Thanks! I have Ford's all-weather mats on my 2008. They seem quite substantial --- good in snow and a dirt driveway. I'm pleased.

I bought the Weathertech FloorLiners for our Edge...front and back seats. They cover more of the floor area than the Ford all weather mats...seem better designed (to me, anyway). For the back, I purchased the Ford cargo area mat (not Weathertech)...costs around the same as the Weathertech...maybe a bit cheaper. But it looks good, has Edge embossed into it, and is very substantial in terms of thickness. It's only available in black...not a problem with our black interior. redhoncho
I just bought my new '08 Edge Limited last week. It came with the all weather floor mats from Ford. I was surprised to find that the standard carpeted floormats were also included. I had the Weathertech floor mats in my '00 Mercury Mountaineer. The grooves are a bit deeper in the Weathertechs but I think the Ford mats will work just fine.

I have the factory carpeted mats along with the optional all weather rubber mats on top of them. Seems to be working out ok. In the summer I plan to remove the rubber and factory carpeted mats and replace them with the catch-all carpeted all weather moulded mats in black for the summer months. I just think this is a better combination for the warm weather months when flip flops and sandals are in order most of the time. I like the black due to the contrast with the camel seats and also due to its ability to hide dirt. I've done this in my 2 explorers as well and it seems to work out well. As for the cargo area there are 2 schools of thought. The weathertech for ultimate protection of course, or the catch-all carpeted liner if that kind of protection is not needed. I also think the carpeted cargo liner keeps things quieter back there as well, the edge has a lip as well to protect against spills. Either way, you cant go wrong. Goatee, A few people have mentioned that they are using black carpeted mats in their Camel interiors, but I have yet to see a picture. Any chance you can provide one? I think they would look good because even some of the Camel interior is black, dask, doors, molding, etc. Debating between a Camel and Charcoal interior, I prefer Charcoal and the wife likes the Camel. I just know that the Camel will show more, especially in the floor mat area. Hope to see some pics. Thanks Clayton

I have Weathertech mats in my VW and love them and planned to do them in my Edge.... then the dealer gave me - yep gave me - the all weather Ford models and I am happy enough with them that I am going to just do those. Similar heavy duty rubber, maybe not as deep grooves, but plenty good for me. You can see photos of them in my gallery and as far as I could find on the web, those are the only full photos around when I took mine. The Ford accessories website shows the corner of just the front driver.
ramblinman
I saw these at the local Sam's Club. Set of four, fronts and rear for $20!! Great fit, large enuff to cover the ENTIRE foot well area, and a hellofa lot cheaper than some. As a matter of personal opinion, I think they are heavier and better configured than the than the Weathertechs in the wife's car.
ttd1939
I bought the Huskyliners front and read for my vehicle. I like the perfect fit and the lifetime warranty. A bit on the pricey side, but it will protect that light colored carpet from the elements.

I have the tan Huskys in my Camel Interior and they match great as well as giving a good 2 - 2 1/2 inch depth all the way around. I paid around $70 incl. shipping for my front set. Fit and finish are great.

Upper right and left (beside pedals) and on both sides, you are lacking coverage. Lift up those mats and compare the carpeting to the unprotected area. My opinion is to go ahead and spend the extra $$ and get FULL coverage, from door sill to console. jacksheadache
We just picked up some weathertech mats and I am pretty disappointed with them. They do not have the cut outs for the floor hold downs. They are not a custom fit. Sure they fit around the dead pedal but are not fit for the Edge. For the $70/to the door I paid, I should have just went to the Sams and picked some up for $25. I'm sure the $150 mats they offer are far better.. but I couldn't justify spending that much on floor mats.
TdotYdot
I bought the Catch-ALL mats for the front, back, and cargo area in tan to try and match the camel interior. The fronts would have worked fine but thats all. The cargo mat was too long, it had a hump at the area of the seats and cargo area meet. At the hatch area you have to tuck the mat under the molding or the hatch will not shut. As for the back seat area they might as well not be there. The standard mats you get from Ford cover more area than the Catch-All do. Needless to say the Catch-All are getting returned. If you have the Camel interior you might go with black or the medium stone instead of tan, not that close of a match.

I'm tellin ya...the Huskies are the shizzle...full coverage, pre-notched for the factory floormat "tie downs" and the cargo area mat fits perfect. Around $70 per set incl. shipping and I am 100% satisfied. :yup:
tarhole
Try Lloyds rubber mats. They have a unique design that traps water and does not need a lip around the edge which I hate. They are also custom fit.....

I've also got the same color combo and just bought the catch-all because they where carpeted. I love the front ones the really have great coverage exept for the drivers dead pedal. the one piece rear kind a moves around but at least it covers the a lot more area. My catch alls are black. I also plan on changing the entire carpet to black when i find it For the rear i bought a black area rug from Walmart and trimmed it to fit Looks stock. Forget about spending $120 for the cargo mat, the area rug was $19.99.
goatee
My Catch-all carpeted cargo mat fits great. I have the camel interior, bought the gray mat and it really looks like the camel colored interior! I was going to return it but found the color match uncanny. I can't tell the difference between the catchall mat and the factory carpet and no I am not color blind. Also, another thing to consider is that the cargo mat is just that, it's in the cargo compartment which puts it at a different line of sight from the passenger compartment - different lighting, etc.
1nutsvt
Someone was looking for some pics. This is my 08 Edge Dark Ink/Camel. I could not stand those rear taillights! Thank GOD for NITE Shades. now available at summitracing.com NITE SHADES Like I stated previously. I bought the black catch-alls. (purchased from autoanything.com) The rear cargo area is my Walmart special. A 5x7 black area rug $19.99. I have a piece also cut out to fit on top of the seats when folded. The rear one-piece moves a little when the kids get in and out but at least it covers a substantial area especially the hump. I'm thinking of spraying a rubberizing coating to help it grip better. I plan on changing the entire rug to black if i can find it for a reasonable price. I still have a piece of the area rug saved for the dead pedal area. bluetexan
I bought all weathertech floor mats for our MKX. I've got them in my Fusion and love them to death. They've been the life saver of my beige carpet, so I expect the same in our dark gray/charcoal/whatever color it really is carpet in our X. I purchased an over sized clear plastic chair mat from Wally word and cut it to form in the trunk area. I use bungee cords to hold things down as its surface is a bit slick, but it can take a beating! I am still undecided on front and 2nd row floor mats. I need something semi rugged as my Edge sees good amount of country driving any suggestions?
