Start Stop Disable

I was able to disable the Auto Start/Stop with the Forscan on my 2023 ST. It had a separate line in the easier worded section just for it labeled something like BSM / Auto Start Stop. There were other BSM items that you could modify so I believe it was just doing that and not disabling the entire BSM module.

Yes unfortunately you are right Wubster100. The vehicle would bring up a warning about the battery every time I started the vehicle. I ended up putting it back.

Thanks omar302, I will give this a try and see how it goes and let you know.

I guess another question I have is should I do a BMS reset since I disabled it and then enabled it back? It is a very new battery, about one month old.

I have Forscan, but opted for the aftermarket disable switch instead.  Works perfectly.  I wish I could remember what it's called and where I got it but it's a three to five min install w/zero hassle. I  Googled it.  Like my better half, Google knows Everything!

Thanks for the link. Ordered mine tonight for my 2024 Edge. I use computer service tools for work, but decided this was easier for me. There might be other things I'd be tempted to toggle off, but this is the only one that is on my priority list currently.

There is a small wire attached to the negative battery cable near the post with a clip.  Disconnect that and your problem is solved.

I did this a year ago on my ST, no auto start stop anymore, and noother issues whatsoever.

@Jetboy47 - could you share code address in ForScan you used to disable that bloody start-stop BS? I have ST 2022 and looking to get rid of SS as hell. No, i'm not going to use "elimintaor". Partially because importing it to europe will add even more $ to already ever priced gadget IMHO. Thanks!

WilkiST, I probably have it saved somewhere I'll have to look it up, but the problem was it disables BMS and every single time you start the vehicle you get a warning that you have to acknowledge because the of this. I know you don't like the idea, but honestly one of the best things I did was install it. It took all of five minutes and it works as advertised.

You will love it but occasionally you will inadvertently hit the switch placing misc stuff on the console or just tapping it.  It remembers last position til you hit it again.  Switch is fool proof, drivers are not.  At least I fit into that category.  It attaches to in off switch and you use that to toggle on and off as before but it stays where you left it thru ignition cycles til you hit it again...

I used the Forscan method that Omar posted in this thread on June 12 of 2021.  No start stop and no BMS warning.

I think it is reasonable to think that the full PSCM AsBuilt is different between models.  However it is not unreasonable to think that many sections are the same.  Code is often recycled.  Not need to re-type all the code needed when you have a large percentage of it already written.  Most of the hardware used in the electrical system is the same.  With each modules firmware customized for the model it is used in.
