Mike Honcho
All weather tire recommendations please. 19 SEL AWD 2.0 Eco. Super Drive Touring AS on front and Milestar Weatherguard on back. Just bought it that way. They appear to have same amount of tread.
1004ron
This is what I have on my Sport and Mustang, and will be installed on my wife's BMW X5 tomorrow - very happy with these all season tires. edgeidiot
If I were in the market for a used AWD and the tires on the vehicle are mismatched it would raise some concerns for me. There is a lot of debate surrounding whether having mismatched tires can cause premature wear on the drivetrain of an AWD vehicle. There is even debate concerning whether to replace the entire set if one tire needs to be replaced due to a blowout or other damage, as AWD vehicles require tires with the same circumference. I am guessing that you want good wet and dry traction and a long period until replacement is necessary. Have you considered selecting the OEM Michelin tires? The ride quality of the Edge is exceptional, and the OEM Michelin tires are a part of the ride quality system.
TourGuide
I am assuming you will be replacing the set of 4 with these. https://www.nokiantires.com/all-weather-tires/nokian-tyres-remedy-wrg5/ I have the wrg4s on our escape and they are the best all weather tires I have ever driven on. Had them on 3 years now and they are still quiet and have plenty of tread remaining. I expect to get more than 60k out of them.
Mike Honcho
I did not realize it until I got it home Saturday. I'll be contacting the dealer at least about new tires.
Mike Honcho
Dealer replied and upon inspection the tires were all the same tread depth and are convinced they will be fine.
FireBoy153
What did you ever decide on tires? On 11/17/23 I got 4 Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires and on 9/24/24 they were at 3/32... 17480 miles on an 80k tire.... sad by it./ Edited September 26, 2024 by FireBoy153

I haven't measured the tread depth, but quite confident they'll reach 80K miles.
FireBoy153
I feel I just got a bad batch. Normal driving, most under 60mph. I don't have a 2position pedal, so i don't race to the next stop sign. Don't brake hard either. Rotated ever 5k with oil... just don't get it. Hope you have good luck, i am on the search, not sure I want to try another set of the same.
garycrist
It depends where the tires were made even within the same MFG. and tire type. Some of the countries have JUNK rubber compounds and make a tire that will never give the rated miles. By the time the CLOWNS at the tire store get finished screwing the client with a tire adjustment, one would have been better not going there at all! That is why they sell warranties with tires. Like the guy in the commercial says, "You can pay me now and you can pay me later". Edited September 27, 2024 by garycrist
MLLI18
I replaced the OEM Hankooks at 35k miles with the Michelin Cross Climate 2s, The ride is very quiet and comfortable, even with the 20"s. The Hankooks wore ok, 3/32 - 5/32 left but I had a kole in the sidewall. The Michelins are pricey but I like them so far and the tread looks cool.

Was at Discount Tire to get a free balancing done and they reported 5/32" remaining tread depth and offered $888 off on a new set of tires based on the fact that these would not make the 80K mile guarantee. 26,630 miles with 5/32" remaining. I declined because I'd rather have my next set of tires installed at Costco but need to check the numbers to see if its best to take the $888 at Discount Tire. Now to decide on what tires too use next or just stick with the Alenza's - the original Pirelli's lasted longer.
garycrist
Some of the things about Discount, they sell warranties as well as tires. (DUUHH) Did you know they have tires made just for them by the same manufacturers who's name one depends. Or in other words, they sell one a tire that will never last long but, you have a warranty and they have a ready made sucker for a customer! dabangsta
Discount tire has some brands it sells exclusively, but I have not seen special models only they sell, or same models with different specs. Walmart has quite a few Walmart only models made by Goodyear, but it isn't like they are made of rope and duct tape, they are usually maybe lower mileage rated, lower temp spec, things like that. I ran them all the time on my older cars when I didn't know if the car would be around for a year or 10 years. They were just tires that were cheaper and had compromises that I was okay with. I shop around for quality and price, and have gotten tires at Discount, and tires from TireRack mounted at Discount, as well as other places. They have never done me wrong other than taking way longer to get to my car with an appointment and it taking longer, hardly unique.
garycrist
Tire Rack is Discount Tire! Discount is big enough that it can specify the compounds in the thread section of the tire regardless of the manufacturer. An example was the Yokohama tire line with 3 different selections for the same size tire. I could easily tell one to expect with normal driving 40K+ miles. The next was a street performance tire one could achieve plenty of miles but had hardened over time and have next to no traction (20K-35K)! The last was for racing/street(ha ha), with the better driver getting the fewest miles(5K-12K)! Those were the king in SCCA racing too or, if you were not running them you were not winning. When the auto manufactures buy tires they specify the compounds for the tires they buy. An example was the GM TPC radial specification for tires. They skimped on the width of the steel belts and with the springs sagging as they broke in and the camber going way too positive, it caused excessive outside premature shoulder wear. But then again, people were trading in about every 18 months so, for about 15K-30K for tires.
lildisco
Bought these last year & have 1 mild Ohio winter on them with my 2020 AWD. General Tire Altimax 365. Local tire store recommended them & they've never sold me a bad set, in 15+ years of using them. Didn't get much snow last year so I didn't have the ability to really try them out. The OEMs left me stuck in my mom's driveway when it was below 0 out & I decided that's the last winter for them after 2 years & under 20,000 miles. Don't really have a complaint, except for the price $190/tire. They do have a $100 rebate right now till the 31st. It was also time for winter wheels on our 2016 SEL Fwd this year, so the local tire store also recommended these. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=AltiMAX+365+AW&partnum=46HR8AM365&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2016&autoModel=Edge FWD&autoModClar=SEL Edited October 27, 2024 by lildisco
1004ron
With the three tire brands I've tried the original fitted at factory was the best - SCORPION™ VERDE ALL SEASON265/40R21 105V XL From my photo records this is the original tire and they lasted 50K miles, so I'll call Costco and see if they can get these for my next tire change. Quite pricey at $442 each.
1004ron Posted yesterday at 10:27 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:27 PM Ordered new tires at Costco for installation on 8th November 2025. Price was pretty good. The "W" speed rating version are $170 more than the "S" - I confirmed from my photos that the original tires were the "S" rating so that what I went with, and the fact that the Sport and myself aren't going to get anywhere near the speed rating of the "W". dabangsta
The W speed rated ones are specific to the Maserati (not sure what model). They have 1/32 more tread depth (12/32 vs 11/32). This model tire has a lot of OEM specific tires (lets say tyres looking at the list). Some with sound deadening foam, various tread depths, different load ranges, even for the same size. While the scores seem okay on Tirerack, the over all recommended score is pretty low. I entertained these for mine, but went with a much cheaper tire that seems to meet my requirements better (cheap!, but also all other boxes checked, and lots of reviews on tirerack, with my driving environment and style). I got them same day at Discount, versus shipped 2 days from Tirerack, so forgoing 2 year road hazard for only 1 (from the manufacturer) for $150 less. I should do a mini review now that I have a few thousand miles on them. I just don't like Costco for tires because the last 2 times it was torture, and I will save myself from that if I can. Both times they annihilated the stupid Ford capped lug nuts (only third time they had been removed, in the the driest place in the US so no freeze, rust, expanding), and missing the 7500 mile rotation (I do them myself at oil changes, usually 5000-7500 miles) they wouldn't do warranty exchange on one that was evenly worn, the manufacturer stepped up. Nitrogen fill not enough, they might be worse that Walmart.
dabangsta
No really "all weather", which I suspect would be the 3 peak rated snow tires with UTGQ ratings for year around use (CrossClimate2/3 for example). I don't think my tires are worth a separate post. It had Kelly Edge A/S tires on it when I bought it. They had zero miles, the dealership found the cheapest ones they could. They were not great at any one thing, but other than noisy at take off across painted stripes, and would hydroplane in not very deep water, not bad enough for me to replace. Got 53,000 miles on them, still had 4/32 tread left (pretty consistent across entire tread, all 4 tires), decided to get them replaced instead of waiting another 2,000 miles to wear them the rest of the way to the wear bars. Looked for a mid mileage "warranty", high traction and temperature rated (high ambient temps 9 months of the year, 8 hours at 80 mph at 110 degree ambient can end some tires), A/S more summer oriented tire. I don't want 80k tires, but I didn't want 20-30k wear tires, as it gets about 20,000 miles a year, but we get lots of nails and screws in them, something around where it is driven every day for work. Last tire repair they said they likely wouldn't patch it again, ~15-20 patches already. For $750 installed I ended up with Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 from Discount. They are considered UHP A/S, the Tire Rack testing shows them mid pack in most tests, but customer ratings and reviews seem to match my expectations. 1 year road hazard from Sumitomo (I didn't get from TireRack with 2 years road hazard, and I didn't spend $160 on the Discount one, that is one tire). The SUV/Crossover tire segment had some candidates, but usually more costly, and many have temperature rating of B. They are much better than the tires they replace, but how much of that is new versus old. They are much quieter than the ones they replace, even when new. No longer have small steering wheel movement, especially on cement roads. It still "kicks" at each expansion joint, but it doesn't saw back and forth. Got to experience them in standing water, and active rain, and did much better than the previous ones. I didn't hear the wheel wells filling with water and lack of steering. Only weird thing I ran into once was driving at 82 mph, cross gust of ~40-50 mph. Instead of being pushed sideways, it swayed a little bit. Just once, and the entire 4 hour drive was in high winds, and it behaved as expected.
1004ron
Compared to the two other brands I've tried after the original set wore out, I decided liked the originals best for all season performance and tread life. I've had tires installed at Costco with no issues, but thanks for reminding me about the potential damage to the Ford lug nuts - I just recently installed the new set that I got when the dealership destroyed them at the 5K mile service (had them on the shelf all this time). I'll insist that impact wrenches not be used.
