johnmarkp
I have looked at virtually all the tire reviews for the ST. Most are centered on performance and/or mileage. I am looking for tires that give the quietest and most comfortable ride. I have the 20 inch wheels.
STBEAST
I too am looking for a good alternative, I have the performance brake and tire package which came with the 21" P Zeros. The ST front suspension stiffness in increased by 10% and the rear suspension in increased by about 20%. They also use a monotube shock instead of a twin tube. And they use a solid tube sway bar instead of a hollow tube. I know the ST wasn't designed to be as comfortable as the base edge, so it is going to ride differently. fishx65
Probably running tires 5 psi lower would make a bigger difference than a tire with a softer sidewall.
BlueSteel
I got myself a set of the Michelin Pilot Sports for the summertime. I found that they were quieter and more comfortable than the OEMs that were on there. They had a good comfort/noise score on TireRack.com
johnmarkp
They look good, but the 20k mileage is just too low.
edgeidiot
I would suggest tires classed as touring or luxury. These tires provide a luxurious ride and since the speed rating is lower than sport tires, the tires will last a lot longer.
garycrist
I do not know where you live, but here just north of Dallas, I bet I could find a set of used 18 inch tires and wheels that will satisfy your ride. It is the low aspect (2nd number) ratio that helps determine stiffness as well as grip for the wider tires. This stiffness is reflected in less sidewall flex, better fuel economy, better handling etc. So a 245/60-18 tire will fill the bill with the 18 inch rims. Samurai Edge
My 2020 Edge ST came stock with 245 /50 R20 Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 tires. Definately not a performance tire. Comfortable ride. Must be why I replaced them with performance summer & winter tires. With only 3000 miles on the Hankooks, I just need to find a local buyer Edited Tuesday at 11:02 PM by Samurai Edge
TourGuide
Ford must get a deal on the Hankook tires (besides all the other reasons they may pick them), because my original Edge 16 Sport had those on it. I didn't like them - they did not seem to do the job in the winter to my liking. For my climate it is Nokian tires for me. I usually run the WRG5 variety. Davidoo
I have a 22 ST that came with the Hankook tires as well. I do believe they are considered a performance tire, but don't provide a good ride at all......and I know the ST won't ride as well as a non-ST. I now have 31,000 miles. The Hankooks have worn fairly well, but I probably have less than 5,000 miles left before I wouldn't want to drive on them anymore. I'm also looking for something, preferably Michelins. I do see many have the all-season Michelins, but I don't really need that kind of tread here in Phoenix as I'll probably never drive mine in the snow. TourGuide
Michelins seem a good option for climates like Phoenix where you are worried most about things like performance in the heat, rain, and treadware.
johnmarkp
I just ordered 4 Pirelli Scorpion AS PLUS 3 tires from Tirerack. I hope to get them installed soon. I'll report back on how they perform.
