  1. You don't need to pull on the door handle to see if it's locked. Get out, close the door and touch the lock area on top of the door handle. You can hear it lock even if you don't see the red leds. I think it may flash the parking lights as well. Sport mode doesn't just enable the paddles. It also holds gears longer and delays upshifts to keep rpm higher and I thought it did firmer and quicker upshifts.
  2. Or how to unlock the Caps key...... Many people think the mfr owes it to them to fix any type of problem for free even if it falls outside the warranty and even if they chose not to purchase an extended warranty. They don't care how recalls really work - all they know is if it's recalled they get it for free.
  3. On our old Escape with a similar hitch I found I could kick just beside the rear exhaust tips and it worked reliably. You might just need to experiment to find a good spot.
  4. Spark plugs are cheap - no reason not to change them. Once the PCM starts to kill the coils I don't think you can expect to drive more than a week or two before it starts to kill the new coils.
  5. But even the factory rails are limited to 100 lbs - aftermarket racks are much more versatile.
  6. Subaru buyers are far more likely to use a roof rack than the average CUV buyer. Also that styling doesn't work on all vehicles. What Ford should do is provide a way for aftermarket rails and racks to be easily attached for the few owners who want that.
  7. Toe is whether the tires are pointed out or in horizontally. I think you're referring to camber - whether the top of the tire is tilted out or in vertically. Waldo should be able to comment on the factory standard Camber setting.
  8. The strange part is on the MKX you can get the side rails with the Vista roof. I have both.
  9. Unless you had recently checked the oil for coolant or specifically checked for leaks it's hard to say that it wasn't already failing. It is suspicious that it happened so soon after the accident but probably not something you can prove definitively, although it won't hurt to turn in the claim to insurance and try to convince them it was related.
  10. If it's leaking you'll see it. It won't be a surprise. In the past this was done simply because there was not enough room in the engine bay.
  11. fordparts.com or levittown Ford in NY.
  12. Check the weatherstripping around the door.
  13. Possible, but aftermarket upgrades pale in comparison to what it costs them to supply sd cards for every new nav equipped vehicle. That's probably over a million a year. Add in the cost of the hardware and it's easily $10 total per vehicle, maybe $20. That's $10M - $20M per year savings. Not to mention the hassle of dealers losing them, etc.
  14. That must have been an early build MKX with MFT not sync 3.
  15. Not always which is why I said "IF" they're interchangeable.
  16. If you can't get the part number from the existing one, check the build date on the door jamb. Or if they're interchangeable I would go with the later one since it probably had an improvement of some kind.
  17. Nope. You don't have to check the level unless there is a leak. To check the fluid color/smell you'd have to use the fill bolt.
  18. Courtesy wipe activates the wiper one time a few seconds after the wipers turn off - to catch any remaining moisture
  19. Could also be a wiring problem. As wires heat up they expand and could be shorting out. I'd check the tranny wiring first.
  20. I assume it's cheaper to do map updates online rather than provide cards.
  21. That's not code - that's map data. It's possible Ford changed map suppliers with sync 3. Either way map updates come from the map supplier, usually once a year.
  22. No more SD cards with sync 3 and the non USB aux input has been removed from newer models across the ford lineup.
  23. The new brakes are excellent. The Edge is quite a bit heavier than your legacy sedan.
