Ventilated/cooled seats in the 2016 fixed?
akirby replied to mjonis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The feature says heated and cooled seats, not heated and cooled seat bottoms. There is also the TSB to fix the issue in the seatback in addition to the parts. Saying only the bottoms are cooled is the service dept's way of saying we don't want to mess with it. -
It's more a matter of knowing that I don't have to take out the fob in the first place - just grab and go. It also works for taking the groceries out of the trunk - you don't have to keep one hand free to close it. Kicking is not that hard. Why do you have to put down features that other people find useful? Why can't you just say you don't like it or don't want to use it and leave it at that?

Color. The darker the fluid the more water it has absorbed (I think). It starts out clear.

Every 2 years is a typical recommendation.

It doesn't matter whether YOU hit it or not - the point is based on the damage SOMETHING hit it. A ball, a rock, etc. Intent or who actually did it isn't the point - the point is it's probably not a manufacturing defect.

I just installed a hidden hitch on a 2016 MKX and it does not block the lifgtate kick sensor at all. I can kick on either side of the hitch and it works perfectly. The hitch is not hard to install - just a bit tricky getting the bolts inside the frame rail. Cost was around $180 including shipping from e-trailer.com. I also use it for a bike rack so did not need the wiring. You can buy an extended warranty any time during the 3 yr/36K mile warranty but the cost goes up about $100 after the first 12 months. I think there are options for roof racks even with the vista roof - do a forum search. My MKX has the factory side rails and I assume I could add crossbars if I wanted but not 100% sure.

You have to let it cool first.

We understand it might be nice to have but a deal breaker?

According to the order guide auto start/stop is only available on SE FWD. not available on SEL, Titanium or AWD models. -

Sorry I got confused with the Fusion where the 2.0 is the top engine. -
Nope - it isn't there, despite what the OM says. Some of the folks on the MKX forum are livid about it although I can't for the life of me figure out why it's so important.

No and no. It requires hardware changes. -
Look - if you don't like something just say that and stop denigrating other owners who don't share your opinion on these things. No need for name calling. Their personal preferences are just as valid as yours.

Ford has done that also in the past. They'll get complaints no matter how they do it. Even if there is one of each it may not be in the best position for what you're doing. I also think the increase in current draw from all of the amenities on newer vehicles makes the battery much more susceptible to even a small draw if left on more than a few minutes so they're playing it safe. 48V systems might fix that.
-
But you don't really need to do that if you're trying to stop in an emergency. You're correct that it takes away the fun uses, but how often does that get used?
-
Nope it assumes factory synthetic blend.

Of course you can - you just pull up on it and hold it. Works just like a manual parking brake.

Sync 3 2016 upgrade to CarPlay
akirby replied to tpm419419's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You think Ford should already be releasing updates for sync3? It's only been out a few months. I understand Agile development and that works great for some things but I don't want to see weekly or monthly updates because I think you need more thorough testing. Quarterly updates would be better. With carplay and android auto the updates should shift to the apps where you can do more frequent updates. -
It used to be strictly mileage based until the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor showed up (IOLM). I don't remember which year that appeared on the Edge but it should be noted in the owner's manual.
-
No - you pull up once to activate the parking brake and push down to de-activate it. It will also deactivate automatically if you hit the gas with the driver's door closed. If you're moving and need to activate it for emergency braking you pull up and hold it. That's the way it works on my 2013 Fusion and 2016 MKX - I presume Edge is the same.

Sync 3 2016 upgrade to CarPlay
akirby replied to tpm419419's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
My experience with things like this in the IT world is that it was either a supply issue - the parts they needed weren't available from their supplier at the time - or more likely they have something that worked on paper and in early testing but failed with certain apps or certain conditions. It would be hard to believe that they would simply overlook something like that. I've had dozens of similar conditions where you look at the end result and think "how could you have missed that" when the answer is we didn't miss it, there was a sequence of 4 or 5 unrelated things that happened that led to that result. The other possibility is that this is an upgrade or change that everyone will need at some point in the future and Ford decided to get it out of the way early. -
I could move it but I think we're basically done here anyway.

Sean already tried the 12V power point (both of them) and they are not always on. Like I said it varies by vehicle and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.
