Are you happy with Edge? Would you buy Edge again?
akirby replied to t0lkman's topic in Owner Impressions
It's in privacy mode. -
It is possible you're accidentally keeping the button pressed and that's draining the battery. It could also be a bad fob. Do you keep the fob in the car? Try carrying the other fob and see if it does the same thing. If it does then it's probably you. If not then the fob is probably defective. You can also put a new battery in the original fob and leave it somewhere for a month or two and see if the battery is dead. That would confirm the fob is bad.

Easy tiger. Don't confuse negativity with reality. The reality is that adding an intake and/or a catback exhaust isn't going to get you more than a few ponies. If someone wants to do it thinking they're going to gain 40 hp when in fact it's only 10 don't you think they should know that up front? There are scams out there like IAT resistors that absolutely don't work. As long as it doesn't get personal, you have to take the good with the bad if you put it out there for comment.

Sync 3 2016 upgrade to CarPlay
akirby replied to tpm419419's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I don't think Ford has said whether they will offer carplay for MFT. It is possible but not probable. -
What changes would you like to see for the 2018 Edge?
akirby replied to Chipster's topic in 2017-2018 Edge & MKX
The MKX has the 360 camera - it works great. Not sold on the tailgate though - seems like it would open when you don't want it to. You don't have to wave your foot back and forth under the Edge bumper like I've seen some people do it - just a quick forward kick. Not hard at all. -

How would a proximity opener work without some type of gesture? -
Ours doesn't. They build 20K+ vehicles every month and only a small subset seem to be having problems. It may be a higher percentage with issues than normal, but it's still probably a small number overall.

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
BTW - I completely agree that Edge quality is not where it should be. You think this leak issue is bad go talk to the 2007-2010 owners who had their fuel tanks fall apart and had to wait for months and months for a new one while their vehicle sat at the dealership. Ford did buy offer buybacks on those, too.- 480 replies

No, no skin in the game. Just a good understanding of how businesses and car companies in particular operate. I'll just shut up and let you guys vent even if I think it's unwarranted.- 480 replies

akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
If you think other car companies do these kinds of buybacks on cars that have been repaired successfully you're dreaming. But you're certainly free to go try them out. Meanwhile I'm sure there are others who had the same experience with a Chevy or a Toyota who will be trying out a Ford.- 480 replies

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
From an objective/legal perspective, if the problem is fixed and there is no mildew or evidence of rust or electrical damage then a buyback is not warranted. It's no different than an engine or transmission failing. That's how every product warranty works - if they can fix it they fix it and you're not entitled to a replacement, whether it happens on day 30 or day 300 unless there is an unconditional return policy and you're not going to find that on a new vehicle. It would be great if Ford would offer such a proactive/no questions asked buyback/return service for problems like this. It would be fantastic for customers. I would love to be able to return a vehicle within 30 days or if it had a major problem in the first 6 months. But from a business standpoint, it's completely unrealistic to expect Ford or any other volume vehicle mfr to do that. It's too expensive and they're not legally obligated to do that. You may not like it but that's reality.- 480 replies

Sync 3 2016 upgrade to CarPlay
akirby replied to tpm419419's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
That's a voice interface only. Carplay is data. I think the apple issue is apple security requirements. -
That's because the tune is advancing the timing which is why you need 91 octane.

2.7L and 3.5L V6 EB engines have two different turbos, thus the front/rear location. On the 2.0 there is only one turbo with twin screws.

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
That had nothing to do with it. Some people were offered buybacks immediately. Others who complained vehemently were not. It had to do with the extent of the water damage and which components were involved and to what degree.- 480 replies

akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You know what Ford would tell the lawyer? We fixed the problem. The factory warranty is still in effect. There is no evidence of future problems. Case closed. The problem with your argument is that it's no longer defective. Regardless of what problem occurred and when, if it's repaired under warranty then it's no longer a defective vehicle - legally speaking. If it can't be fixed then that falls under lemon law.- 480 replies

akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You can jump up and down and say it's unacceptable but the reality is you're not going to change that policy with Ford or any other mfr. You can call it a defeatist attitude, but it's simple business reality. The only way Ford would change this is if it was affecting sales. But if it makes you feel better to vent about it, go ahead.- 480 replies

I understand the desire and I don't blame a customer from wanting a new vehicle (or any new product for that matter). I've said it would be great if Ford would proactively offer buybacks for problem vehicles. But that's not reality in today's business environment for most companies. If the vehicle can be fixed they're going to fix it. Ford did buy back some Edges with water leaks no questions asked, so they obviously have guidelines as to whether the vehicle is repairable or not.- 480 replies
