  1. Would I want to keep it? Maybe not, but I wouldn't expect Ford or any other mfr to buy back a perfectly good vehicle that has been satisfactorily repaired. As long as there is no rust or mildew and no electrical problems it should be fine. Ford can't buy back every vehicle that has a problem in the first few months. Now if the problem can't be fixed in a reasonable amount of time or there is evidence of long term damage that's a different issue. Ford did buy back a lot of Edges for just that reason. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.
  2. Max uses the LO temp setting and it sets recirculate mode. That's why it cools faster. LO by itself doesn't change the recirculate mode. I don't think it should take more than a minute (probably less) to start blowing cold air. Try it on a normal setting (70 degrees) just for fun.
  3. Nothing condescending about it. You implied that some programmer just took out that code and I was trying to point out that's not how it works. I don't work for Ford but I do have 30 yrs experience in IT so I know how software and software development works. Sorry if you were offended.
  4. So they fixed it, you got an extended warranty and service plan at no extra cost and you didn't have to pay any additional fees or taxes. I don't see the problem other than you simply wanted a new vehicle.
  5. Ford's response was poorly worded. All of Ford's engines are designed to last at least 150K miles and ten years. All that means is they test them and make sure they don't fail before that. There are many cases of 3.5L engines going 250K or longer (including macbwt here) even though they have the same disclaimer. If the turbo is designed to last 150K miles then there is no reason to think it would fail before the rest of the engine, provided there was proper maintenance. Today's turbos are much different than the older ones. The original 2.0EB was redesigned, not replaced with the 2.7L. The biggest change was to head cooling and a switch from a single scroll to a twin scroll turbo.
  6. You're misinterpreting. Ford does endurance testing to 150K miles on all their engines. That doesn't mean it won't go 300K miles. It's not going to fail at 151K. Long term (10-15) years reliability of the turbos is unknown. It would be a bit less risky to stick with the 3.5L NA but I don't think we've seen anything so far that indicates long term problems are expected. These turbos are designed with the engine and use much better materials than the older ones.

    Tuning

Nobody said you can't have more power and better fuel economy at the same time. E.g. Advancing the timing normally achieves both. Other changes involve making the engine more efficient - less friction, less moving weight, etc. etc. But just adding more air or cooler air simply adds more oxygen to the combustion chamber and that always requires more fuel. It doesn't change the efficiency of the engine. And modern cars run in a closed loop where they measure the incoming oxygen and measure the efficiency of the combustion process via the O2 sensors and adjust the fuel accordingly.
  8. Why would you even ask a question like that? Of course they'll fix it but it takes time to identify the problem, fix it and test it. It's not happening to everybody.
  9. If you use more air then you use more fuel. You can't change the laws of physics.
  10. Check the sunglasses holder - the noise location can deceive you. Also check the door bins.
  11. Pull the fuse to reset the radio and try again after verifying the ESN again.
  12. No it won't honk as long as it detects a key in the vehicle - in any seat.
  13. But I don't think all the windows on the new ones have that.
  14. The biggest reason would be if you had the only key and your spouse dropped you off somewhere and left. Without the honk the driver may not realize the key is gone and if they get to another location and shut off the engine for more than 20 seconds they're stranded. Also to prevent people (elderly I presume) from leaving the engine running accidentally, although there is a 30 minute engine shutoff now to prevent that.
  15. Really? I'll have to test that on the MKX. I know my 2013 Fusion does not honk.
  16. Some people mistakenly think a TSB is like a recall and it's free.
  17. Just don't close the door and the horn won't honk. I don't like it either but I also don't like the possibility of my wife driving off without a key and being stranded somewhere.
  18. 2016 MkX Reserve: Fold flat front passenger seat - really miss that one (had it on the 2008 Edge) when hauling long stuff. The front power point is very hard to find/use. Would like to be able to disable the front/side parking aid sensors permanently. It goes on in drive-thrus and other situations when it isn't needed. The turning radius could be improved. Wish the electronic ride control was available on FWD vehicles, but can't complain about the standard ride quality. All in all pretty minor things.
  19. The TSB just says to replace the shifter assembly. It doesn't change the warranty status.
  20. That reboot sequence would have been really handy the first 2 years with MFT.
  21. My post was facetious - I stopped listening to AM/FM radio a few years ago.
  22. I think the question is how to disable regular DRLs, not the LED lights. Doubtful since DRLs are required by law in Canada. Dealer should be able to do it.
  23. Let me clarify - there are two modes in Sirius - direct tune and presets. Presets shows you the preset stations like am/fm and you can press and hold them to set them the same way. You can use direct tune to find and tune to the channel, then switch to presets to set it. Rinse and repeat.
  24. You're probably in direct tune mode. There should be a button for presets.
