Well it could be intermittent, but if it goes dead in just 2 days that's not exactly intermittent. Tell them to check the park detect switch in the shifter and the BCM - those are the most likely culprits according to the techs. They'll need to keep it for a few days. And I'm flattered but I don't think my opinion carries much weight with service managers.

Disable Seatbelt Chime

Whatever. -
It really sucks that dealers either cannot or will not take the time to diagnose what's draining the battery.

Disable Seatbelt Chime
akirby replied to wannabang's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
It's not "my advice" - it's the absolute most simple solution to your problem - it doesn't require purchasing anything or any work whatsoever - just change the order of two tasks when you get in the car. I'm all about problem-solving and when people are given the simplest solution yet ignore it then I get a little peeved. Like the guy on the Fusion forum who complained about the chime when the engine is on and the door is open. Turns out he was leaving the door open to vent the hot air in the summer after it had sat in the parking lot. The simple solution was to roll down all the windows and open the moonroof and even better - use the global open to do this before you even get to the car. But he wanted to leave the door open and jump through hoops to disable the chime. I just don't get it. BTW - the belt extender will also disable the regular seatbelt warning if you actually do forget to buckle up. -
Disable Seatbelt Chime

I've suggested that multiple times but jeffcarl doesn't seem to want to do that. He would rather disable the speaker instead. -
Redesigned Edge/new platform = new components. I was being facetious - they've obviously redesigned the fuel tanks a few years ago.
-
How is Ford preventing a dealer tech from doing a proper diagnosis? There are several components that could cause this - some common like the park detect switch or the BCM and others that are not common. If the dealer tech doesn't take the time to measure the current draw and trace it back to the offending component I'm not sure how that's Ford fault. Most dealers are simply too lazy to do the proper diagnosis.

What amp fuse and wire gauge?

Hopefully the #1 upgrade is a redesigned fuel tank.......

seat belt reminder disable for push to start

Another owner asked why the "welcome chime" didn't always work - he liked it. I don't understand why you'd go to the trouble of trying to muffle the speaker instead of simply buckling up before hitting Start - but to each his own.- 12 replies

When my 08 overheated due to the fans I had to add over a gallon of water to make it home. Also - I thought the typical failed water pump scenario included leakage so maybe it's not the water pump.

I understand but it's an extremely simple workaround that doesn't require any additional steps or time - just reverse the order of two steps.- 12 replies

Disable Seatbelt Chime
akirby replied to wannabang's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Maybe this only enables the chime while driving and you can't disable the chime when you start the vehicle? Did you try it while driving just to test it? -
As Waldo stated this is standard operating procedure. Nobody (including Ford) knows when the ok to buy (ship) will be given. It depends on how quickly the line gets up to speed on building error free vehicles.

Don't overlook the radiator fans. Those are simple and inexpensive to replace (relatively speaking).

I would try unplugging the negative battery cable first, then have the battery checked for cranking amps under load (not just the old load test). Or just replace the battery - most don't last more than 3-4 years. -

keyless entry system questions
akirby replied to cams-76's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Try putting them in slowly with a second between each one. If it only works some of the time it's either a battery issue or the keypad is bad (or the module reading it). -

If you think Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientific testing is "mostly flawed" then there's no point in contouring the discussion.
