Don't forget there are differences in the intake and exhaust in the Edge versus the F150 due to the Edge being transverse mounted. This can account for some of the power differences. But given it's exactly 350 and the same as the 3.5L EB engines I think it's safe to assume they're doing the same type of limiting.
-
Never knew that. Chalk one up for the sales droid.
-
He also said the 2015 was derived from the Fusion platform and the pre-2015s were not and were derived from a Mazda platform. Absolutely false. CD3 was derived from Mazda and the original Edge was derived from that. Not from Mazda. Don't believe everything a salesman tells you.
-
If the 6F50 can't handle it they'll just use the 6F55 from the 3.5L Ecoboost Explorer, Flex, MKT, MKS and Taurus SHO.

Umm...the one named Waldo.
-
The website has errors.
-
They could be the same - for the same engine. But different engines usually get slightly different springs at least to account for the weight difference. That's why i said to PM Waldo - he'll know for sure.
-
Simple - they're no longer holding back new models when they're ready. One advantage is Ford is bringing out new models when nobody else is so it generates more publicity. That's also why they're debuting vehicles outside of the major auto shows. In this case the Edge got delayed more than expected.

If you were anywhere near Atlanta i hope you were in the slow lane.....otherwise you'd get run over.

Because it's a Ford. It's official because Ford released it in a press release.
-
Good grief guys - did you not see my link to Ford's OFFICIAL press release at media.ford.com? It's OFFICIAL. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/02/06/performance-and-power--2015-ford-edge-sport-certified-as-highest.html

You didn't look at the right website: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/02/06/performance-and-power--2015-ford-edge-sport-certified-as-highest.html

If you had gone to tirerack.com as I suggested you'd see that the wheels that fit are 5-114 bolt pattern and somewhere between 6.06 and 6.34 inches backspacing
-
That's what I would be worried about. Although Ford could do that as part of the recall for the ones that aren't too bad yet.
-
315/350. Not bad for a FWD application. F150 is 325/375.
-
Would it hurt to use some type of rust arrestor on any existing rust to hopefully stop it or would that void the warranty?
-
offset and backspacing refer to where the wheel attaches to the hub in reference to the inside and outside edges of the wheel. It changes where the wheel sits in the wheel well.
-
They changed something otherwise the later models would have been included in the recall. Whether it guarantees you won't have the same problem - not sure.
-
bolt pattern and offset. tirerack.com will show you which wheels fit and you can figure it out from there if you want other options.
-
If there is a delay it's a parts availability issue specific to the SE and it could be specific to a fleet option. Any delay would have been communicated to all dealers so if you have a SE on order call your dealer and ask them.

It's simple. In a car that is tuned for 87 and which does not have programming to advance the timing beyond that (like your F150) you won't see any benefit from higher octane. None at all. Many modern vehicles now have this ability. They will advance the timing until it starts to knock. 93 octane fuel will allow the timing to be advanced considerably resulting in more power and slightly better mpg. Vehicles like this will either advertise their power ratings on 91 or 93 octane or the owner's manual will say that using higher octane will give you more power. Most (if not all) ecoboost engines fall into that category. If your owner's manual says 87 with no mention of higher octane then it won't help.

Need advice on this possible purchase...
akirby replied to mills2626's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Interesting. I should have RTFM'd better. I know my Continentals weren't covered and the only other ones I got replaced under treadwear warranty were Michelin Cross Terrain replacement tires not OEM tires. I just assumed they all cut the OEM warranty to save money for Ford. -
A way to re-download and re-install Sync software?
akirby replied to wes8398's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think it would just tell you it's up to date, but not 100% sure. I think only the dealer can force a reload. -
It SOUNDS like they made a change to the tanks or related parts in 2008 so vehicles built after that aren't affected. But that's just a guess, otherwise you would have expected the recall to cover the 2009-2010s also. But it's difficult to know for sure.

Should be within a few hundred of the current one.
