Turn signal not working
akirby replied to buffaloedge's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The dealer should be able to determine if it's the SJB and try to reset it. If you can't find any other obvious wiring problems then that would be the next most likely cause. Not sure what they would charge but they can check it/reset it with their diagnostic laptop. -
This is most useful when you go somewhere and you don't want to keep keys in your pocket or you don't want to risk losing them. Amusement parks, the pool, the beach, hiking, playing sports, etc. etc. People who don't use it don't miss it, but once you use it you won't want to be without that feature. I HATE having to take the key out of my pocket and manually start my wife's Edge. Yes, it's lazy. Yes, it's convenient. No, I won't go back to a car without it (unless it's a Porsche).

Turn signal not working

Yes - the SJB controls the lights and sometimes it can get confused especially if you're changing something in the wiring. -
A master reset doesn't change the software - just resets all the configuration parameters. Alternatlely you can pull the fuse or the negative battery cable. This won't erase any system configurations but will restart all the components.

Bluetooth disconnecting with text message

Which version of MLT are you on? When was it updated? Make sure you're on the latest version and try a master reset. If that doesn't fix it then it's probably a hardware issue. -

You might have hosed the smart junction box. -
Wait - the Edge doesn't have auto-dimming headlamps? That's what I thought we were talking about. My bad. If not then there should be no relationship whatsoever between the headlight switch and the dimmer switch.
-
Somebody thought the auto dimming only worked with the lights in auto mode which as you pointed out isn't really the case. They're either automatic or manual depending on the menu setting.
-
My 2013 Fusion doesn't do it at all. The 2008 Edge only does it when I connect a phone manually and I leave it on the phone settings screen. If I go back to the media screen it doesn't do it.
-
True - only in the auto position with the lights on (dark enough to turn them on or the wipers are on). That's probably not it - it was a long shot.
-
I'm saying it's a slight possibility. But I've had a few occasions where the high beams wouldn't stay on manually without fog so who knows.
-
It's MFT so who knows - could just be a bug.
-
Could definitely have been the bounceback reflection from the fog.
-
I think it has to do with when the bluetooth device connects and which screen you're on.

You can get similar kits from paintscratch.com including spray cans.
-
I think it's under the left hand screen trip computer.

Will we be left out in the cold?
akirby replied to jeffdelta's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ford doesn't set the pricing - that's why she told you to check with the dealership. Or you could have done a simple google like I just did - took all of 90 seconds. $125. http://www.lombardfordaccessories.com/productDetail.cfm?productID=60839625&categoryID=56&productTypeID=13&CFID=218205&CFTOKEN=45984274 Now please unwad your panties about this and move on. -

If the new software requires a new card it will come with the software whether the software and card are free or there's an upgrade fee. If the new software works with the A-4 card then they probably won't provide a new one. -
Try running the mirrors through a full range of motion - up down side to side.
-
They're just illegal copies most likely. The danger is you can brick the system. Not worth it just to get updated maps IMO.

Rain sensing wipers
akirby replied to pinballbob2's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Forgot about the option. But don't you have to do that in the menu (auto or manual)? That knob controls the speed of the intermittent wipers in non-auto mode so I don't think setting it before turning on the engine would change anything. -

My guess is they didn't connect the sensor. -
I agree, but glad you got it covered.

They're not charging him for the software update. They're charging him a diagnostic fee which the dealership said they wouldn't have charged if they had to replace a part but since it was just a software change they could add their diagnostic fee. Total BS from the dealer. Hopefully they reconsider.

Unfortunately you have a terrible dealer. Ford is paying the dealer for the software update but the dealership is adding on the diagnostic fee. There was nothing to diagnose so I can see why Ford wouldn't pay for it. But the dealership should not be charging a diagnostics fee in the first place just to reflash the PCM. That's their right but you also have the right to tell them to shove it and find another dealership.
