  1. I don't want to simply throw parts at our 2011 Ford Edge, but as soon as the rear hatch opens, it automatically closes when it reaches the open position. Ideas on what's gone bad? Thanks! 2011_Ford_Edge_Rear_Hatch.mp4
  2. Installed a 20" LED strip light in the grill of my wife's 2011 Ford Edge Limited.
  3. I upgraded the sync 2.0 in my wife's 2011 Edge to sync 3 hardware with 3.4 software and everything is working except the backup camera white guide lines. It didn't have them with sync 2.0, but I know sync 3.4 has them in my 2017 F150. Has anyone done this upgrade and managed to get the white guide lines (pictured in the attachment) working? Does anyone know if I need to upgrade the camera or is it just a software mod in Forscan? Thanks, TR
  4. Has anyone updated their 2011 Edge from the Sync 2 system to Sync 3?
  5. I ordered some new HID bulbs and see how those work out.
  6. Nope, I've never replaced them. My wife drove it a few nights ago and mentioned how dull they are compared to the LEDs in my 2017 F150. Are new HIDs comparable to LEDs?
  7. Has anyone changed the factory HIDs to something brighter? The headlights in this thing seem dull and terrible at night. Should I convert them to LEDs or are my HIDs just getting old an weak?
  8. At one time I had a clicking or popping from the front end when accelerating from a stop or when going from park to drive or reverse. The dealer replaced both front wheel bearings and hubs and the noise never returned.
  9. 2011 Ford Edge Horn Removal 1. Remove the 5 RH front fender splash shield screws. a. Pull the RH front fender splash downward to access the horn. 2. Disconnect the electrical connector. 3 Remove the bolt and the horn. a. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) 4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  10. Does it have the 20" wheels with Pirelli's on them? Had mine in the shop for 2 weeks while they aligned, realigned and adjusted the sub-frame. The fix was to replace the Pirelli's with Michelins.

  14. If all the other interior lights come on when the door is opened, then it sounds like it's just the bulb.
  15. Mines been doing the same thing and the grinding was becoming more consistent. We could tell it was coming from at least one of the rear wheels but every time I checked the brakes, all looked fine with plenty of brake pad life remaining. Yesterday, I decided to pull the passenger rear wheel and once again, brakes looked fine. This time however, I made the decision to pull the caliper off and check the inner pad since it was difficult to inspect on the Edge. Not expecting to find anything wrong, I was surprised when the inner brake pad was down to the rivets and the outer pad had plenty of life. I had to replace the rotor on the passenger side since it was deeply grooved and new pads on both the rears. Although the drivers side rear brakes were fine, they also show evidence of unequal wear but at least the rotor was in good shape. Car no longer grinds and stops great but I wonder why with all the technology built into the Edge, Ford seems to have forgotten to put in something as basic as brake sensors. No warnings or codes that I feel should have given advanced warning that something was wrong. I hope this gives everyone a place to look as the culprit for their Edge grinding noise. Best of luck. Ron
  16. I also have a 2011 Edge with the 20" wheels but the Pirelli's caused my car to drift to the right. After driving 4 other new 2011's with 20's and Pirelli's on the lot just after I bought it, the GM at our dealership replaced my tires with 4 Michelins and the problem has never returned. My recommendation although much more expensive than Pirelli's are Michelin's. Good Luck! Ron
  17. I had the same problem with my 2011 Edge and the software was up to date. Backup guides had disappeared and all the normal fixes went out the window. The fix was to replace the APIM or Accessory Protocol Interface Module which is basically the entire Sync computer behind the screen. Since it's been replaced ALL of my Sync issues have disappeared and Sync works flawlessly! I'm glad it was under warranty because I understand it's quite expensive. Good Luck!

  19. No way! Even with the sync problems it's still a great car with great features! Drives like a sports car and is nice looking. That said, I am hopeful though that a release comes out that stabilizes the system and that Ford starts to use Garmin Maps instead of the crap we have now. TR

  22. Here are some pictures that show how I hard wired our radar detector into the fuse (#35) panel.I used a mini fuse with a tap and then attached the ground to an existing bolt that already had other grounds connected to it. It works perfectly and turns on the car is running and off when it's not. Entire job took me less than an hour and I was in no rush at all. Good Luck, TR
  23. Any update from others that were having this issue? The tires were the fix!!
