  1. Hi edgeyone. :D Looks good. Hope all is going well with it. Good luck. :beerchug:
  2. Hi lance. :D Welcome to the club, and sorry to hear about your problem. However, unless you really wanted to get an aftermarket battery, why did you pay to replace it yourself? The battery is a Warranty item and covered for 3 years/36,000 miles. And by having the Dealer check/replace the battery, they would have performed a vehicle check to be sure there were no other problems that may have lead to the dead battery (e.g. a bad "automatic headlight sensor"). Anyway, hope your problem is solved. Good luck. :beerchug:
  3. Hi MinnDuc. :D Here is my recommendation: First, if you have decided that you definitely want an extended warranty ( I will not enter that debate), then most certainly stick with the Ford Factory "ESP Plan" as opposed to third party/aftermarket sellers. It will be a much better contract and ownership experience over the life of your Extended Warranty. When you are ready to begin price shopping, check the Official Ford ESP website to determine which Plan and plan duration you prefer/need: LINK: Ford ESP Plans There you can find the MSRP price for the Plan you want, for comparison price shopping later. Next, check online for Ford ESP sellers. If you Google "Ford ESP Plan", you will get a multitude of online sellers. They are all Ford and Lincoln-Mercury Dealers who happen to also sell in volume online. Here are a few examples: LINK: Ford ESP Plan1 LINK: Ford ESP Plan2 LINK: Ford ESP Plan3 Once you get a best online price on the Plan you prefer, use that price as leverage to see if you can get a match or better price at your local Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealerships. And after you have completed all your Dealership price shopping, pick the Dealership or online seller you feel most comfortable with and sign the contract. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  4. Hi Ron. :D It is an easy job on the Edge. The filter is easy to access and it is a spin-on type. Good luck. :beerchug:
  5. Hi Neil. :D Congratulations on your new Edge Sport, but OUCH, my condolences on the wheel damage. Yes, there are companies that repair aluminum wheels. You can try to locate a reputable one in your area by visiting a few of your local Speed Shops and asking for wheel repair company recommendations, or just Google "aluminum wheel repair". I would do both, then weed down the list to one you feel comfortable with. Good luck. :beerchug:
  6. Hi chainsaw. :D Correct, you do not have the Torqshift. You have the 6F50. And I want to congratulate you on finding the transmission code on your Manufacturers door jamb sticker and cross-referencing it to your Owners Manual listing. I really mean that. You don't know how many people never bother to look first, as you did. And yes, the Edge has an in-tank fuel filter that is meant to last the life of the vehicle. The Maintenance Schedule recommendation pertains to other vehicle models that do have a replaceable fuel filter. Just as an FYI for everyone: The Scheduled Maintenance Guide contains information for all Ford vehicles. Therefore, there are separate sections for "Trucks, Vans and SUV's" and "Cars and CUV's", along with "Normal" and "Severe Duty" schedules. So each person must locate the proper section for their vehicle. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  7. EDIT - When I began typing my reply, no none had answered yet. Some of my information may now be repetitive, so you can take whatever is helpful and use it. Hi Picturepro. :D X-Plan pricing is also known as "Friends and Neighbors Pricing and is approximately $150-$250 above true Factory Invoice Price. So If Costco pricing is within $200-$300 above the true Factory Invoice price, then the pricing would be close to X-Plan.. My "best guesstimate" is that when all is said and done and all Dealer Fees and Charges are included, X-Plan would come in $200-$400 lower. Mainly because X-Plan deals limit the Dealer to a maximum $75 Documentation Fee, and prohibits the Dealer from adding any other "customary" fees and charges. So the prohibited and limited fees are where you will see extra savings, since the X-Plan price itself will probably be about $150-$250 above true Factory Invoice pricing. As to where she can try to obtain an X-Plan PIN, there are three methods. The first would be to get one from a Ford Employee you/she know or are friends with. If you do not know a Ford Employee, you can ask for one on the Blue Oval Forums here (you must register first): LINK: Blue Oval Forums X-Plan Request Board The second method would be if she is a qualifying Employee of a Ford Partner Company, she can get instructions on how to get one from her HR Department. She can check to see if her Company qualifies by checking this list: LINK: Ford Partner Companies Keep in mind that this is a third party (Ford Dealer) list, and we do not know how accurate or up to date it is. So it wouldn't hurt for her to also ask her HR Department personally. The third method would be if she owns Ford stock, she can contact Ford Shareholder Relations and qualify for 2 PINS per year. Concerning A/Z Plan: A/Z Plan pricing is much lower than Factory Invoice/X-Plan/Costco pricing. However, you need to be an immediate family member of a qualifying Ford Motor Company Employee to receive an A/Z Plan PIN. So if anyone in your family works directly for Ford, ask them if they can register you for an A/Z Plan PIN. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  8. Hi Franklee. :D Congratulations and welcome! Best of luck with your new Edge. :beerchug:
  9. Hi edgeyone. :D I forgot to mention before, please post back with your impressions of your new Sport when you have the chance, Good luck. :beerchug:
  10. Hi edgeyone. :D You are very welcome! All you did was ask a question, so no fault on your part. Concerning your new Edge Sport: You certainly have the correct outlook, so you will certainly be pleased with your new car. They are beautiful vehicles. Hope you have many miles of safe and happy driving! Good luck. :beerchug:
  11. So much for my offer to end the non-debate. I tried. I am not interested in arguing with you. The information is out there for the picking if you wish to learn. You are free to do your own research and present any "facts" that you feel are missing, since you question others but have not presented one factual piece of data yourself. I will not spoon-feed you. Can't make that any clearer. In addition, our past posts and records of providing factual information speak for themselves and are here for everyone else to see. I will leave it to others to decide who was the argumentative one. Speaking of "keyboard warriors", I have also asked the Moderators to keep a close eye on your posts from now on, since this is only the latest of many abusive and argumentative posts you have foisted on all of us.
  12. EDITED to add this observation and offer - I can't believe this is all because I quoted you when I answered the question you asked in post #13 (Wouldn't it be funny if the "Sport" is actually slower than the other Edge models?)? You were quoted because your post had the question in it. If I wasn't answering your direct question, there would have been no need to quote you. No question, no quote. Am I being repetitive? Yes, because no matter how many times I say it, it has not yet sunk in. Sheesh, don't look for insults when they are not there. If you like I will remove the quote, then you can remove your subsequent replies, I will too and we can both move on. A nice equitable solution. Until you let me know that answer to that offer, first go back to the first page of this thread and look at posts # 2 and 3. I had completely forgotten that I had previously posted the Car and Driver link. Ironically, you had no problem with the link when I clearly stated that I was agreeing with you. Now that you have mistakenly thought I was disagreeing with you (or "singling you out" in your words) the link is a major problem (among other manufactured "problems" it seems). I don't even necessarily disagree with you concerning some of the things you said about wheels, so I still don't understand what the problem was in the first place. Again, you are attempting to argue with someone who really doesn't even disagree with you over anything in particular, and has clearly stated so. So your moral outrage over being "singled out" (which I already stated was not my intent) is rather disingenuous. Again, I quoted you to answer the specific question you asked. To refresh your memory, your question was "Wouldn't it be funny if the "Sport" is actually slower than the other Edge models?". Bottom line: Jeez, if I was "singling you out", I would just tell you so. But that was not my intent. Can't explain it any clearer. And since three of your six points all boil down to being "singled out", That takes care of most of the "disagreement". Concerning "spoon-feeding" the wheel information to you at this point: Part of providing accurate information includes doing research on your own. That means performing the research whether it proves or disproves what you may believe, not ordering others to provide the information or do the research for you. I don't believe that spoon-feeding you answers will be helpful, so I will not. To this point, I have treated you with much more courtesy than you have me. So before you repeat yourself, you do some research, since even in your best case scenario (where you will imply that I may not know the answer), you definitely don't know the answer either. And to predict the next step, give it a second thought before you attempt to "turn the tables" by making silly statements such as "Oh, so this means you don't know the answers". It would be a ridiculous strategy. Again, I was not even contradicting you, only answering the question you specifically asked: "Wouldn't it be funny if the "Sport" is actually slower than the other Edge models?". You are angling for a debate. I could not care less about debating this subject. The answers are easy to find, so since you don't believe others anyway. do the research for yourself. I see no point in continuing this argument over nothing. I had not been insulting or sarcastic to you in any of those replies, I was trying to be helpful and answer your question. It is not my fault that it now seems that you were asking a rhetorical question which you did not want answered.and therefore did not appreciate my answer. So don't make more of it than it was. And if you stop trying to bring up tangential issues that were never part of the discussion in the first place, I will not need to address them and the "rant" can stop on both sides. If you will simply carefully read what I am saying, you will see that you are arguing over nothing.
  13. First, I already provided some of the information, but you either did not read it or did not read it carefully. I assist those who really wish to learn the correct information, and I don't think that is the case here. It would be better if you did the research yourself, as the sarcasm makes it obvious that you will not take anyone's word for it anyway. This is simple research for those interested in learning the correct specs. Next, I took no side and did not even contradict anything you stated, so there is no attitude in my replies. I was simply addressing your question of "Wouldn't it be funny if the "Sport" is actually slower than the other Edge models?". I was only pointing out that it is already documented as being slower because in this case the wheels are heavier and larger diameter (The Laws of Physics state that both variables, weight and diameter, matter). In other words, I did not "single you out" (your words) to contradict or correct you, only to answer the question you asked: "Wouldn't it be funny if the "Sport" is actually slower than the other Edge models?". So you were not quoted to be corrected, only to answer your question. I fact, in past threads I have mentioned your name to corroborate things that you stated/posted. In this case, I only answered your specific question. I can not make it any clearer. So if you read everything again, carefully, you will see that you are looking for an argument from someone who was not even arguing with you. I only answered your question. So plainly put, you are misunderstanding the reason for my replies, as your unnecessary sarcasm clearly shows. There is no need to pick fights with someone who meant no harm and was only trying to be helpful. If you didn't like my links, ignore them or write to the magazines and give them grief.
  14. Hi MOFSTEEL. As I stated before, I am not even taking a side in this "debate". And of course I am also well aware of the variables you mention. However, as I previously stated, for those truly interested in learning, the factory wheel weights are available with a little research (took me approximately two minutes). In fact, the 22" Edge Sport specs, both wheel and tire, are listed in one of the articles I linked to. And to continue my wish not to take sides, I am not even going to list the factory wheel weights, as doing a little research once in a while is good exercise for the brain (for all of us, me included). I was simply trying to present some interesting information concerning the entire wheel tire upsizing question. While it may not have been interesting or helpful to you, it may help someone else. So with that, I am tapping out of this discussion, as I already know the answer in this particular case. No hard feelings and good luck. :beerchug:
  15. Not sure why the attitude, as I was simply providing some interesting links for further information while taking no side in the "debate" If anyone is interested they can read the links, if not they don't have to. As far as the effects of the larger wheels on the Sports acceleration and handling, the question was answered in the comparison test, if anyone cares to read the article (the link you accidentally left out of your quote of my reply). Concerning the weights of the various factory wheels: They are easily obtainable online, took me about two minutes of research over 6 months ago. So if anyone is really interested in the definitive answer, as opposed to engaging in an Internet debate, take two minutes of time to do so. Personally, other than providing the links to the information that may or may not be useful to some people, I could not care less. So everyone can carry on debating as much as they like. Good luck.
  16. Hi MOFSTEEL. :D Ironically, due to the 22" wheels and tires, it is. An interesting article concerning larger wheels and their effects in general: LINK: Car and Driver Wheel Upsizing An interesting comparison test that includes the Edge Sport. If you read the entire test, there are sections explaining how the Edge Sport's 22" wheels negatively affected its test results: LINK: Motor Trend Test Be sure to read the "Unsprung Heroes" section on page 5 of the article. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  17. Hi John. :D Sorry to hear about your problems. When you purchased your Edge, you were given a bunch of paperwork and booklets. One of those booklets was the Warranty Guide. There is a section in that Warranty Guide which deals specifically with your type of problem. It explains how and who to call/contact at Ford Customer Relations. It has a section explaining the BBB AutoLine Arbitration Program. And it has a section describing how to initiate Lemon Law proceedings (well within general guidelines, since Lemon Laws vary by State). If you lost or can not find your Warranty Guide, you can download a PDF copy here: LINK: Ford Owner Guides Good luck. :beerchug:
  18. Hi lemmy. :D That does not sound like any feature that was part of the factory installed equipment.. Seems like her Edge may have had some sort of aftermarket alarm or entry system installed by the previous owner. Your best course of action would be to return to the Dealership where she purchased it and ask them to check the vehicle out. Let us know the outcome. Good luck. :beerchug:
  19. Hi slomo. :D What I can tell you is a combination of fact and opinion. First, the fact: Damage caused by accidents certainly can effect Warranty coverage (not always, but it can). If you ever have any suspension or other problems related to that accident damage, Ford may deny that particular Warranty claim. A simple read of the Warranty Guide will explain that. Keep in mind that accident damage does not "void" the Warranty (if repaired properly), it just makes claims related to the damage more difficult to recover. Once you purchase that vehicle, you are then at the mercy of the Dealerships honesty, as they are the ones who are warrantying the vehicle was repaired correctly/within Fords specifications. That may not be a problem, but only you will be able to decide that. Now, my opinion: Personally, I would not purchase a vehicle that had been in an accident severe enough to damage suspension components and possibly the sub-frame (or any accident, actually). I would prefer a new, freshly factory ordered vehicle. However, that is simply my personal opinion/preference and may not be correct for everyone's situation.. Whatever you decide to do, good luck. :beerchug:
  20. Hi edgeyone. :D As MOFSTEEL stated, you have already purchased, so just enjoy your new Edge. However, just for educational purposes, here is an interesting test Car and Driver did concerning the entire "larger wheel effects" question: LINK: Car and Driver While it can't take every variable into account, it gives some general "apples to apples" answers to your question. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  21. Hi Picturepro. :D MOFSTEEL is correct. Assuming both wheels are the same width (you must know width and offset to accurately measure), the lower the (positive) offset the further from the center of the car the wheel is pushed out. For example, if both wheels are 8.0" wide, old offset being +44 and new being +39, the new wheel will be 5 mm further from the center of the car AKA closer to the fenders. In this case, if both wheels are 8.0" wide, the new wheels will fit, since 5 mm would make no difference. You can use this handy online tool to get correct calculations: LINK: Wheel Offset Calculator Just plug in current/new wheel widths and offsets. Also, as MOF mentioned, be sure the wheels you are purchasing/ordering have a usable centerbore. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  22. Hi jbouwer. :D Unfortunately, there is probably not a "fix". You had the Dealer check to be sure the speedometer illumination was working correctly (I assume it was). And it is safe to assume that you already have the dial turned up to full illumination. Other than those two things, there is not much that can be done. If you want another opinion, you can always try another Dealers Service Department. Good luck. :beerchug:
  23. Hi LAJAMA. :D What to have checked is highly subjective and depends on your particular vehicle. So the short story would be to check everything and make notes. Check every last nut and bolt that you can. If the transmission does not shift correctly. If the engine makes odd noises. If anything leaks. If anything creaks. If something that should not make noise makes noise. If something that should make noise does not. Or you can find anything else that is wrong or you think may be wrong, now is the time to have it checked, diagnosed and fixed under Warranty. Other than that, there is nothing specific we can point you towards. Let us know how you make out. Good luck. :beerchug:
  24. Hi 08Pumpkin. :D No. There is no owner-configurable (nor Dealer-configurable) programming to enable/disable the feature. Good luck. :beerchug:
