Turn Signal Lever Hard To Move
omar302 replied to TheWizard's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Well, from Fordparts.com, the signal switch for 2011/2012 Edge/MKX, the switch costs $38.58 while for the 2013 Edge/MKX it costs $69.67. For 2014, it costs $28.65!! So it seems the part is actually different (2011/2012, 2013 & 2014) and might not be interchangeable. On my 2011 MKX, the high beam & "flash to pass" are both operated by pulling the lever, while it seems the 2013 & 2014 (reading the Owners Manual), have it as "Pull to flash to pass" & "Push" to turn on the high beams. So they are different. I would love to know if the 2014 switch works in my car as I would really prefer the Pull/Push action compared to the Pull/Pull, and its not expensive. -
Perhaps you need to calibrate the actuators. Run the self test (how to from here), then exit & leave the ignition "On" for at least 30 seconds.

Since you are in Bahrain, I assume your Edge is a "GCC" spec model (if it was sold through a dealer in GCC, it is), unfortunately, Ford Middle East are a bunch of idiots! the MyFord Touch vehicles in GCC have the RDS disabled for no apparent reason. Make a complaint to Ford Middle East , or send them a direct e-mail (menacac@ford.com). Maybe more complaints will make them act. Though when I complained, somebody called me & just claimed that RDS was not available in GCC, even after I explained to him that my 2008 Taurus had it working fine!

From here, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM-Ford_6-speed_automatic_transmission It states that Ford claims the 6F50 was designed to handle 300 hp (224 kW) and 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m). On the other hand, I remember that the 2009 (or maybe 2010) had improved fuel economy because of some changes made to the transmission, but I couldn't find the article.

Check these articles, good reads about the issue: http://m.autoblog.com/2010/08/23/whoops-mt-discovers-ford-edge-sport-slower-than-less-powerful-s/ http://www.caranddriver.com/features/effects-of-upsized-wheels-and-tires-tested

Grinding noise when turning on ice and snow
omar302 replied to Bradman123's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Isn't it the sound of the AdvanceTrac/Traction Control engaging? It will use the ABS pump (brakes) to stop the wheels from spinning. -
TSB 09-13-05 covers 2008-2009 Fords & mainly installs a new mic to the place were the current models have them (same position like your car). In addition to s=taking it to your dealer, I would suggest first to update the MyFord Touch to the latest update. Also, regarding the visor, the visor "slides" on its rod to extend when blocking sun from the side. The visor might not be seated fully back when it stowed & hence covering your mic.

The oem ballasts might not not work with the bulbs you have. -
HID Issue MKX
omar302 replied to roadrage's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
There was no factory HID option on the 1st generation MKX or Edge (2007-2010). -
Not very useful, but fun. With the cruise control switched on, holding the "Set (-)" button will show the actual speed in the cruise control set speed display. The speed displayed will change in real time as long as you keep holding the Set(-). Made a short video to give an idea of the display. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxopoapdthm61l2/VIDEO0188.mp4

Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT
omar302 replied to Dice213's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
A similar setup using iGo navigation is used in 2013 Ford & Lincoln MFT/MLT equipped vehicles here in the GCC. It is supposedly some kind of agreement between Ford Middle East and some supplier because Ford just won't get their navigation system to work in our region (though other car makes do have factory navigation systems. I remember also seeing a video of a Korean spec MKZ that also had non factory navigation on the center screen. The navigation system is passable, but for the money, a stand alone Garmin with map updates is a better option. Also, with that external speaker, when there is voice guidance, the directions being spoken can be picked up the MFT/sync voice commands if the voice button is pressed, in other words, sync will be taking voice commands from the Garmin/iGo navigation system. -
See this post for installation done on an F-150. Gives you an idea of the accessory.

what speed are you driving? uphill? mileage? You have the Ecoboost or 3.5 V6 Engine? AWD/FWD? They all have an effect.

I would agree with WWWPerfA_ZN0W, happened to my car, next morning it didn't start. Needed a new battery.

13M01 - Middle East PTU Extended Warranty
omar302 replied to omar302's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
@thirdgenlxi, thanks a lot. -
@WWWPerfA_ZN0W, don't forget that the stock cabin filter is not flat, hence the effective filtering area is larger than the actual length X width area.

Can someone provide more details on a "13M01" Field Service Action? Was at the dealer yesterday for service & noticed on one of the reports (OASIS, I think) among the outstanding Field Service Actions a "13M01", couldn't read the complete title, but was something like "Certain 2007 through 2012 model year Edge & MKX vehicles sold in some Middle East markets Extended Coverage on Power Transfer Unit". Would appreciate more details on this issue. Thanks.

Thanks Antonio, can I at least request that you pass on the message to the concerned people/Department? unfortunately, the reply I received from Ford's Middle East customer service is that RDS is not available in our market, hence the car would not show it. Though I explained to him my Taurus had it working & RDS is available. I would really like that you pass it on they get the correct facts.
-
Welcome Antonio. Why is the RDS function disabled in MFT/MLT equipped vehicles in Gulf countries (GCC)? It is working in other cars including other Ford vehicles not equipped with MFT/MLT.

Bluetooth Audio - resume where left off
omar302 replied to FrankJ.Reda's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Update. Found a post (#84) on Ford's SyncCommunity Board that might offer a temporary workaround. Turn off the Radio (while playing Bluetooth Audio) before turning off the car. When returning to the car, start it before turning on the Audio. -
I tried it on my car. ('11 MKX). But to be honest, the alarm (Horn) is very loud that I never waited for it to horn 10 times. In my opinion, the Alarm is plenty high to draw attention & scare off an intruder. If the 10 Honks were not sufficient to call attention, it means your car is probably in an area were even a longer Alarm period won't help. For the other part, yes, opening the door from the inside while a window is open will trigger the alarm. Unfortunately though, there is no shock or window-break sensors.

Turn signal mirrors!
omar302 replied to Dingo's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Kwmck, some Edges, included with a package option, have driver's side auto dimming mirror that darkens when there are bright lights behind. Just like the center windshield mounted mirror. Muth's statement is that you will lose this feature.
