2012 MKX come out to car unlocked?
omar302 replied to Schmidty1284's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
On eBay they have fob cases, approximately $10/-. They might be of low quality but you can use the button pad in your case. Example: http://m.ebay.com/itm/272587843112 -
enigma, yes that's true, was just stating how obvious that the Sport not being offered the tow package was not engine related and that it was specific to the Sport trim. Though for the <2015 MKX, you couldn't get the tow package with 22" wheels, so that might be a reason for 2011-2014 Edge Sport since they came standard with 22" wheels. But it doesn't explain the 2015+ since it comes standard with 20" wheels. Edited due to typos.

Also the same 2.7L in the current Sport and the 3.7L from the previous Sport on the mechanically identical MKX when equipped with the Tow package were rated for 3500 lbs. Ford just doesn't want to offer the Tow Package on the Sport. Also, note that the Tow Package's mainly adds additional cooling, so it is NOT recommended to tow more than 2000 lbs in the Sport due to lack of the additional cooling.

2012 MKX come out to car unlocked?
omar302 replied to Schmidty1284's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Just some random thoughts: Maybe there is some dirt or grease on the inside of the driver's door handle causing it to trigger an unlock request. Do you get the shift to park message (bad shifter) or door ajar warning? I once had an issue when I remote stated the MKX it would turn off immediately or after a few seconds, turned out the flexible plate under the start button of the fob had moved slightly and caused the fob to send wrong signals. -
Reverse aid sensor gone bad??

Did you try disconnecting it & clean the connectors? Try switching between 2 sensors to make sure it is really a bad sensor. -
BAMR accordion gasket
omar302 replied to enigma-2's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I believe they it is connected (if similar to my 2011), it could disconnect while opening the sunroof, not while closing it. The front end of the "accordion gasket" is supposed to be lodged inside a opening in the plastic on the of top the rail at the front. It does not move move with the sunroof, but there is a slider on the top of the "accordion gasket" which is connected to the sunroof, that slides with the sunroof. Sorry I can't take a picture because i don't open my sunroof anymore because of the broken rail sliders. -
Dual Climate Control Repair
omar302 replied to finzup's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The side that is not responding to temperature control is the one you need the actuator for. But as mentioned before, first try to disconnect & reconnect the actuator, some have reported that it fixed the issue for them, at least for while. This should also re-confirm to you that it is actually the actuator. -

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
omar302 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
My 2011 MKX does. Useless complication if you ask me. If I'm not mistaken, all 2011-2012 & early 2013 MKX have it. Late build 2013 models & 2014-2015 switched to a single piece armrest with a slight re-design of the cup holders. -
You can easily find one on eBay for a little less than $200. But you need to know which one you have, the larger mirror used in 2007-2010 models & early 2011 builds, or the newer smaller mirror used on later models. Also check if you have BLIS (with an led indicator) or a spotter mirror. Does it have the turn signal light? And last, memory seat.

My advise is to forget that dealer & go to another one.

Forgive my memory of old Windows Mobile days, we used the terms soft & hard reset quite a bit.
-
Hard reset of the phone might be a little extreme to start with. I'd suggest to start by unpairing Sync from your phone and unpairing your phone from sync. Restart both phone & vehicle & re-pair them. If still not OK, master reset Sync & re-pair. If still no go, Hard reset the phone.
-
Sync on the 2013 Edge Sport is called MyFord Touch. There is no specific bad year for the system. It might fail just like any PC or electronic device. The complaints surrounding it were interested the early software versions that really had many bugs and shut down on owners preventing access to HVAC & audio. With latest software updates, it is pretty reliable, as long as you don't expect it to respond like a modern tablet. In short, it is slow, but not bad. Don't let it be the reason for not going for a car you like.

It is called the blend door actuator, as far as i know. Even though it is a common issue, considering the number of Edges on the road, it is not that big of an issue. Also this is the first time I read of someone who had it fail in six months. Did your mechanic use an OEM part? Do you have dual climate control? If yes, is the issue happening on both sides? Because if you have dual zone climate, then you have 2x actuators that work independently.

Definition of "Perimeter" is: "the continuous line forming the boundary of a closed geometric figure." So it makes sense that they mean it does NOT moniter inside the vehicle nor glass breakage that does not technically change the perimeter of the vehicle. Or at least as akirby stated, to differentiate between this system & the older "PATS" (passive anti-theft system) or more advanced systems with interior, breakage, impact or tilt sensors. If I memory serves me right, it was also called perimeter alarm on the 99 Mercury Sable my family had those days.

PDF Window stickers were previously accessible for Ford vehicles, it was useful to find out what options were included in a particular vehicle when searching used cars. But for some reason the have limited the access recently. Maybe they were afraid of too much info being easily accessed by anyone with the VIN number, especially when the MSRP was also in the PDF file. -
May I also add, as far as i know, in case you don't have rain sensing wipers (or they are disabled), then the regular intermittent speeds are probably speed sensitive. From the Owners manual:
-
If the wiper stalk has "AUTO" written on it then it has auto wipers. Also in the left screen cluster display, there should be an option under settings to enable/disable it and there would be a sensor on the windshield behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side.

If there is no coolant, the fail safe cooling system should kick in when engine temperature is high.
