  1. What about the engine belt? Could be slipping?
  2. WWWPerA_ZN0W, yes searching here is sometimes difficult, I was able to find by searching my own posts since was relatively recent, and it's a good thread as the OP was able to fix his issue without replacing it.
  3. Glad it worked out for & good info that sure will be useful to others.
  4. Check this post: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22667-what-a-mistake-it-was-to-buy-an-edge/?p=171335
  5. Thanks for the usual updates & information. But having the Lincoln MKX & MKT mentioned in the SSM when there are no MKX or MKT models equipped with the 6F35 Transmission is concerning. Gives the impression their own data is not reliable, who knows what other information they have is incorrect & how it might affect things, in a bad way.
  6. You can't assume that it only draws 500ma based on it not being recognized as an "AC" port. An "AC" port means no data, while the Edge/Ford hub is still an actual USB port (data) regardless of the actual power it provides. Seems you Engineering field is not into electronics .
  7. enigma-2, newer Lincolns do have what they call "Lincoln welcome lighting" & "Approach Detection" that does exactly what you described. So yes, the car should be continuously scanning for a "transmitting" fob without touching the door handle.
  8. This is from the 2011 Owners Manual, not sure it still applies, but you can try:
  9. How long did you wait after locking? I think it takes some time before the alarm is enabled & fob is disabled. Also, it might be different being a 2015+.
  10. The 2011-2014 (& 2015 MKX) are known for having a heavy steering, especially compared to vehicles with electrically assisted steering system. Not sure about the 2007-2010 as I have not driven one.
  11. That is strange. Your MKX is a 2009, right? It has a normal key, nothing being broadcasted.
  12. And as per mact's for strut mounts always stick with Motorcraft.
  13. The extended warranty for the APIM is 5 years from date of original purchase. Check that date & see if your car is still under that period. If not, you might want to look for a used one online, much cheaper than new. Like what chef stated above, your main reason for what you faced is the specific dealer or service guy you dealt with.
  14. Quick charging per smartphone standards is a technology that allows the phone to charge at voltage higher than the standard USB 5V. In case of the Qualcomm Quick Charge (2.0-3.0), the voltage will reach up to 12V. In this case your phone will report "quick Charging" or "Rapid Charging" (or similar). Ford's smart charging is simply a higher wattage (up to 2amps), in this case your phone will charge faster than a standard 500ma USB port, but it will not report it as "Quick" or "Rapid" because it is still a standard 5V input.
  15. An easier way to test, leave the window open and work through it. Sit inside and lock using the keypad then test. Edit: note you have a 2015/2016 Edge, mine is a 2011. So they might work differently, but good to know how it will work.
  16. As far as I know, this part has many different part numbers, I don't why so many different variations, might be software/firmware issues, but all the posts I read (though few) that had them changed all claimed to have it as plug & play as long as it looks the same. Another thing, 2013-2014 models have a physical button for the Hazard flasher, so you might look for that better than 2011-2012 models. Finally, this part in no way affects the airbag operation, except for having an indicator for the status of the passenger side airbag (on or off based on passenger occupancy & weight) but never heard of it being part of the system. Disconnecting the panel does not cause the air bag light to come on, confirming it's not part of it.
  17. You need this or this based on what your Edge has. It is too bad that it failed, but you can easily find a god deal on a used replacement online or at a junkyard. I think the Explorer also uses the same panel, not 100% sure.
  18. I recall the 2015+ Sport having a summer tire option, maybe those are the expensive set. Checking TireRack, a set of 4 Pirelli 21" is $ 754.
  19. I'll just add a note, if the fob is left in the car & locked using the keypad, yes it disables the fob, meaning the if someone breaks in, presses the brake pedal & push start button, the can would not run. BUT, if the intruder finds the fob & presses the unlock button on the fob, the fob will work, it will disable the alarm & the car will start. So, as mentioned earlier, it will not drain your batteries (car's of fob's), but it is a security risk. You either should really hide the fob or you can remove the battery from the fob to render it inoperable, though you would still be able to start the car after inserting the battery-less fob in the backup slot in the center console.
  20. Like what akirby suggested, don't worry about it. But, if you really want, you can change the tire size using ForScan, or a dealer should also be able to do it.
  21. Even with the fob inside it will lock with 7/8 & 9/0, no code required for locking.
  22. Thanks autom8r, the next day while sitting in a long traffic wait with temperature of about 110F my AC started blowing hot air. Once moving AC ran again, so I decided to change the cooling fans. Immediately after installing the new fans I got the old high noise of the fan, and in the next couple of days AC has been running fine. Seems my old fans were just not reaching the high speeds as they were before. Also being a 6 year old car, and with several members in the US reporting fan problems, it just seemed mine have reached the end of their life.
  23. I'll just add that earlier models like 2011-2013 Edge & Explorer (didn't try newer) also give you the option to reset the oil life meter to any value in 10's (10, 20, 30...100%) which is useful if you want a reminder in less than 10k intervals. For example, resting to 50% will make the oil life warning come after 5k miles (starts when 5% or 500 miles is left). Also, on another note, I wished if Ford programmed the oil life meter for our area, as here Ford recommends 5k intervals but 100% life still represents 10k miles.
  24. Also the latest beta version of Forscan software can read the code.
  25. As nice as that feature is, in our climate, when it is 120F, it will make me End the call ASAP. Good to prevent distracted driving.
