  1. Ford service Rep Frank called me and he informed me the APIM was in at the dealer. Funny thing is the dealer never called me. I called the dealer and confirmed the APIM was in and set up an appointment for this Thursday to have the APIM replaced. Hoping this cures all the that ailes it, with hint of my pessimistic side showing. Hope for the best and many thanks to the Ford Service team you guys are great at follow up!!!!
  2. I would drive my Edge on roads that were hills and when I went down the hill not much happened but when the engine started to climb the tranny would jerk ever so slightly over time. The longer this went on the harder the jerk would be when it down shifted to climb the hill while using cruise control. I could lessen the shift force slightly by driving without cruise control. In city driving it would upshift and jerk. This went on for say about 1k or 2k then finally the rear output sensor failed. Your discription sure sounds the same as I did not get even one single code until it failed completely. Since you never replaced yours I am betting it needs to be changed/replaced. Thing is the dealer will not beable to say this is the problem until it fails. 700-800 dollars to repair.
  3. Based on what i am reading no one has bothered to replace the USB in the consol yet? Anything that gets used on a daily or almost daily basis is sure to wear out. I am sure this usb connector is a plug and play replacement. Most likely even a DIY project.
  4. You should push to have the APIM tested under the Ford extended warranty for the APIM if this has not been done. Computers do wierd things when they are broken. And just a bit of humor but you can't drive your car in reverse by standing on your head in the seat? I would suggest asking Ford Service for assistance on this forum.
  5. A bent rod hydro lock sure sounds resonable. My mother had that happen due to a faulty fuel injector that blew the engine. Hot engine and then a fairly sudden introduction of water in combination to turning it to steam in the cylinder. I just had a conversation with my local dealer on engine replacement and a full replacement with a used engine is far cheaper than repairing it if something does go wrong. Plus I get a 12k warranty.
  6. You can get a 3.5 used with about 60-80k miles for less than 800 dollars then maybe a thousand to install. Not sure what dealers you are working with but I would look for different mechanics that are more honest.
  7. Thought I would add a video for those who are not sure if their APIM is broke or just a software issue. Mine is defiantly broke. It started once in while but is off more than it is on. To Ford's credit they are replacing it and updating the software sometime this week. No radio, no back up camera, but I do have active warning still working. The heat and AC still work, but you have no idea how fast the fan is running unless you listen for it. Many user interfaces are relieant on the APIM to work inside the Edge. Now waiting with anticipation for the new install and great working car that is fun to drive.
  8. How many miles on it and have you ever had the rear output sensor replaced. Sure sounds like that sensor is starting to go south.
  9. Wish I could answer your question. I have not had to change out the brakes on my 2011 yet. One note you might want to change the name from using your email address. Just a little privacy FYI.
  10. The 2008 Ford Edge lives. A short video for confirmation. LOL
  11. Akirby, vague reference to law that I think you may be referring to as far as control. My reference is far more broad. As always Ford and other large companies willl be the one to bear the brunt of attacks based on how the dealers handle the situations. You know that. The legal systems aims for the deep pockets and collects the collateral damage as they go.
  12. Drove the 2008 around for errands today and filled it up with gas for the drive Monday morning. Felt like an old pair of comfortable shoes. Nice to be back on the road with it.
  13. Hey congrats. You should have lots of time to get to know your Edge. I liked them some much I own two.
  14. I utilize a Blackbox HD dashcam. The suction cup mounting failed within 8 months so I bought all weather double sided sticky tape and it stays mounted on my front windsheild pretty good. I use it running 5 min continous loops while driving. The formated video is MOV which causes me some headaches as I have to convert the files if I choose to use them on youtube or anything else. The camera is set a 720p as this seems to give me the detail I want with the maximum run time I like on the 32gig micro sdhc card. Overall it works allright but the screen has failed now so I can not adjust it. It still records so I just keep using it. A replacement is soon to be obtained in the near future.
  15. I do believe the dealerships are going to end up costing Ford a lot in legal claims before this is all finished up. Taking the car and replacing it with a ford focus/small kia or hyundia will only get people upset and feel abused and poorly treated which ends up with class actions. Ford needs to regain control of their dealers or a rough road is sure to be in the future.
  16. Too close up for me need a point of reference further back
  17. The ford document does state a similar or like vehicle. You may wish to press the issue on this aspect. Again as previously posted the insurance thing can be adjusted also placing the vehicle under fords care and dime.
  18. The passenger side headlight was destroyed. Yes now it looks like it is winking at you with the old dull drivers side all abused from the miles of use and exposure. A good headlight polish kit when it warms up should do the trick.
  19. The 2008 Ford Edge is back from a 10 day spa treatment and looking pretty shinny. See the photos.
  20. I am still betting on the timing chain being mis aligned. I believe camloc tools are required for that type of job also, right?
  21. Just notified by dealer the APIM failed testing. New APIM is ordered and should be at dealer next week. In the mean time going to retrieve it and drive it until the part arrives and is installed. All covered by Ford under warranty. Painless and now breathing easier. Thank you Meagan at Ford Service!!!
  22. A FWD edge with snow tires will beat an AWD Edge with all season tires every time.
  23. Some days I wish I had tank treads. Gas mileage would suck though. My current front two Blizzaks are done. Two new tires next winter.
