I also see some other issues that are very possible and contributing to your problems. The mileage or yearly driving is only amounting to just north of 8K miles a year. Do you used Gasohol? Alcohol in fuel is very corrosive and with it sitting more than running this can lead to corrosion not only in your fuel tank but in the other components absorbiing water and causing tons of issues. My opionon, but I am willing to say this vehicle needs to hit the highway for a good run once in a while.

I have an idea for the PTU. They have reservoirs for the coolant, brake fluid, power steering etc. Why not just design in a reservoir for the PTU fluid? Simple line with a plastic holding bottle and just let it expand up in to the tank then suck it back down when it cools. Might be a great after market idea? anyone?

Usually in my past with other vehicles the shaft is not as round as it needs to be so to speak. Any slight bend will cause the vibration. It is really bad at lower speeds but tends to become less with higher speeds. I had a car with this problem and drove really slow or really fast just to avoid the shaking. LOL

I really think the seafoam thing is more a gimmick than helping. Just pour it in the tank and drive it. Especially when you plan on taking a long drive. Very limited results from most video's I have seen. You could also start using a top tier gas to alieve and help clean your engine. Less work and gives you more time to enjoy other things.

Upon closer view of the photo Yes they are repairing the old side swipe dent. Hope the insurance company don't get all bent over this.

Yep door was damaged also. When I hit the deer it spun and slammed into the lower part of the passenger side door. The photo also make me wonder if they are repairing the old side swipe dent near the door handle. Time will tell.

If i persists and you can not find an external leak. I would recommend the engine oil analysis to rule out head gasket leakage. The test is 25 dollars and would let you know if there is coolant in your oil. IF not then you would rule that out and have to look at other factors. For now as already recommended just monitor the level.

I like it!! nearly the same color of a past ford edge 2007 -2008 model years. Just a different name.

Getting stuck and not turning off the traction control is the fastest way to warp rotors. Been there done that.

I did look at the Blizzaks on my edge after the deer incident and the front tires are done after this season. The rears will be used one more season on the front with the new blizzaks being put on the rear wheels. Time to get ready for the tire change to the summer tires. Tomorrow I have to drive the same route at the same time as when I hit the deer. This time with the rental. Do not want to hit another deer as the 500 deductable adds up after awhile.

That coolant is going somewhere. Then again how long has it been since it was flushed and refilled? Could there have been air in the system from a flush and then it burped and emptied the reserve tank? If not you may have to be checking for leaks. I would fill it and monitor the level for awhile and if no further level changes then no problem.

Hard concept to believe but the coils and motor are immersed in the fuel and the fuel is used to cool these parts. Running on or below empty will cause the fuel pumpt to over heat then fail. Just adopt the same philosphy my wife has and tell me she needs gas because the car is almost empty then when go to put gas in it I find out it still has half a tank. She is afraid of running out of gas. I usually refuel at 1/4 tank if nothing else a reason to get out of the car and stretch the legs.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

This 2008 edge is like that old T-shirt you have that the wife keeps telling you to throw away but never do and keep wearing it. One day I will have to make that decision, but hope it is still a few years away. -
Thought I would place this video on it's own topic rather than have it buried in another topic. Hope this helps those who want to do the job themselves or at least provides some inspiration. I saved about 350 dollars doing this job my self so it is well worth the time and effort.

I can not do anything with my 2008 Edge today. At least it is in a warm garage during the cold snowy spell. Can not wait to see the new grill and shinny new paint job. -
Fuel mileage bad? just remember it goes down "always" in the winter an garages and quick lubes always use this to sell tuneups and fuel injector cleaning to get your $$$. wait a few more weeks till it warms up and your mileage will again increase for two reasons. 1) not ideling to warm up as much 2) fuel mixtures will change to summer mixture I recommend a can of injector cleaner (your choice) opinons vary. Buy top tier gas like Kwik Star or Shell It the highway for a drive longer than 10 minutes Highway drive of and hour with constant level rpm will do wonders. Make sure the oil change place is using the viscosity of oil recommended 5-20 etc. Injectors fail but this is rare especially on the version of 3.5 you have.

Phone GPS work great right up until you drive into wisconsin and then have no signal. Cell signals are great in cities but they do not work for me on my drives and I use a Garmin to get everywhere.

It's sort of like a race horse. Not being out on the road I am afraid it will have issues getting up and running again after sitting around for 10 days.

You going to use 0-20 in the Edge? Thought it required a 5-20?

A lot of people have asked me how I could stop then just go so quickly after hitting the deer. Experience has taught me that if you hit a deer you may have limited time in the winter to stay warm if the radiator is damaged. I usually head directly to the closest farm house or gas station etc. as quickly as possible while the car is still able to run. Never had a deer damage the steering/suspension but radiators do get damaged not the engine. Drive to safety quickly and to the closest safe location. The police will not get on you for leaving as long as you call them. Mostly you just need the police in order to document the accident for the insurance company. This was the least damage I have ever had from hitting a deer.

Not to mention the cylinder deactivation kept hunting for a good place, but never found it except when going down hill. Apparently 75mph is too fast for the v8 to change to a v4

208 hp 250 ftlbs torque. Not really insane HP but hey the plastic water pump should last forever.
