  1. price sounds like you had to buy the whole hub and not just the bearing. Trying to remember I think the fronts are hub assembly's with bearings and the rears can be whole hub or just a bearing. If just the bearing you will need a press if whole hub you will not thus the price difference?
  2. Well I paired up my android phone to the 2011 Edge and it took about 2 minutes. Now I have to pair up the wifes phone and make it the primary phone then learn more as I go. Simple and straigh forward with a good solid connection. Liking it so far and easy to follow the directions. Voice operation may be a problem as my wifes accent may hinder the voice recognition due to her liberal use of Spanish vowels when speaking English. Not sure if MFT can adjust to this. LOL some times I can't either.

    Towing

your other option may be a transport, It would be insured and can be shipped by carrier fairly easily. Not sure on cost and what you can do but this is an alternative to your other options. I feel for you as far as the wife driving I have the same issues. She hates highway driving or driving for that matter.
  4. Just a note on why sometimes this forum subject does not address much maintenance or repairs on this 2008 ford edge. Very simple I do not have much to do on it. It is not breaking down and everything is in great operating condition, so I have no issues. Seems rather boring but this is the reality of the car and it's condition. It cycled through the suspension repairs, brakes, bearings and now that everything has been replaced that are wear parts it just goes down the road. Don't jinx me and wish for a repair as I am sure in the future I will have something to fix, but for now just enjoy the ride. Nothing more than oil changes are scheduled for the near future with maybe a trans fluid change in the not too distant future. Tire removal to summer tires will be in about a month once static temps stay around 50 degrees.
  5. I can see I have some work to do. The used car dealer had no clue on what to do with the MFT so I guess I need to register it to be able to access some assistance. Not sure if the new car dealers will be of any assistance minus $$$$ since I did not buy it from them. Should be interesting but beneficial once I figure it out. Wife said the back up camera did not display but I bet she was looking back and not paying attention out of habit.
  6. The biggest decision was to not trade the Trailblazer, which now leaves me with a work project to get running. I was happy with the price on the Edge for 17K as most other Edges of this level the dealers were wanting far more as in 20 to 27K for them in my area. I ended up at a dealer out in the middle of a corn field almost literally. Second purchase from this dealer and he was happy for the repeat business.
  7. Two different vehicles with noise translation also going to be different. I do know the traction control noises are different then the anti lock on my edge 2008. I have not yet been able to feel or hear the 2011 since I just bought it, but do expect it to be nearly the same.
  8. My wife told me to stop looking out the window at the car in the driveway. LOL
  9. To be honest I have owned the following vehicles with no engine issues as far as oil related: 2002 Suzuki (water pump issues and ignition issues) 196K miles and the worst handling vehicle I ever owned with the exception of the 2008 Chevy HHR 117K miles and it had more ignition, intake manifold, O2 sensors and suspension issues than I could keep up with. I ditched the HHR and purchased the currently operating 2008 Ford Edge I have today, which is the most mileage least amount of maintenance issues I have ever had in a vehicle mile for mile. The wife had a 2004 Chevy Suburban 167K miles that felt rear axles were a consumable part along with some engine issues that I do not want to talk about for fear of PTSD. We then had a GMC Denali XL 128K miles that was a very good vehicle with no real problems. Really liked it only fault on that 2007 Denali was even though GMC proclaimed it a tough truck I had to replace multiple window regulators and three door handles that were literally ripped off the body by one teen age 98lbs girl and one 9 year old girl!! Not that tough. One other vehicle was the 2004 Honda Odessy 248K miles which was just a safety hazard with the airbag light on all the time. Currently banished to the street I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer with 111K miles that has engine misfires that I can not find or fix at the moment even after replacing the plugs and one coil along with cleaning the throttle body. This one I am stuck with and will work on hoping the engine just blew up as it only runs on 4 cylinders at least then I could use the extended warranty to fix it. I just feel comfortable in the ford edge it is just big enough without being too big and just small enough without feeling too small. It is just right.
  10. How do it go about finding out the version of the MFT on my 2011 limited? And how do i upgrade it? Cost? etc. New to this and now I have a steep learning curve to go through in order to show the wife how it all works. Hoping I can at least pair up her phone without much effort.
  11. Based on your sticker price perimeters having myself just been shopping and today purchased a 2011 Ford Edge. Your most likely going to find not much newer than a 2010 FWD. You will most likely find an AWD 2008 or 2009 with 130K plus miles in that price range, but nothing any newer than that. If you do find one check it good and have it inspected. The used car market was destroyed by the cash for clunkers and you are also looking for a very popular vehicle (for a reason) that has great reliability. I have most likely one of the highest mileage Edges on this forum. Not going to say the 3.5 is bullet proof but it is darn close. By the way all Ford reps on here are identified openly as far as I am concerned. The moderators are just folks that are very loyal owners of Ford vehicles that enjoy assisting others with advice. Given freely. I have provided my experiences past and current on this forum to help others without cost. Be humble and you shall reap the benefits of their insight and experiences in assiting you in making a decision. Remember experiences have two flavors (Good) and (Bad) Which do you want?
  12. I have a rather partial opionon of the durability of the 3.5L I now own two. Or you can look at my profile photo of my odometer.
  13. Second ford edge is now in the stable 2011 limited. It got a good road trip of 3.5 hours to get it to the house and beat the 2008 in highway gas mileage.

Wife lagging behind trying to get used to the new 2011 Ford Edge. She picked it up a few miles down the road. I think she was playing with all the buttons. LOL

  20. Finally returned with the 2011 Ford Edge Limited. The color I mentioned was off a bit. It is actually registered as Cinnamon Metalic. Drives great and wife loves it. I did a head to head comparison on fuel mileage as both cars drove exactly the same distance and the refueling at the pump revealed the 2011 was running at 26.1 miles per gallon and the 2008 was running at 24 miles per gallon. Just as I was expecting the 2011 on the highway does pretty good. Time will tell now as it will become a mostly city driver now that the wife has it.
  21. Yes the water pump is the original OEM water pump as with the other accesories attached to the engine everything is original. The only items I have changes is one O2 sensor, the PCV valve and the spark plugs. All fluids have been changed with the exception of the brake fluid which I am unsure if the fluid was changed by the brake installers as part of the brake package. Other wise what you see is an original 2008 Ford edge engine and tranny wise. Last thing is engines are designed to run. I run my edge at a near continous speed at even operation temps for long periods of time. This type of driving does not wear down an engine or tranny. I want everyone to understand my driving is out of the norm when comes to what the average person does with their Ford Edge or any other vehicle for that matter.
  22. Have you guys seen the new Sports illistrated swim suit edition? LOL
  23. Leaving in a few hours about 7am should arrived about 10:30 then paperwork finalized etc. I should have a post and photo later this evening. and a gas mileage comparision. I am betting the 2011 beats the 2008 on fuel mileage. The 2011 has a 20hp and 3 flbs of torque difference not much of a change and not nearly as wide of a gap as the 2015 has over the 2008. Very interesting on what they have done with HP and Torque since the 2008 model.
