The 2008 Ford Edge is currently being or is disassembled and parts were ordered today. Estimate of pick up is this coming thursday. Might be Friday as I will be out of town until Friday. One note on the 2015 Chevy Suburban. Who would order a 2 wheel drive and then use it in Iowa? This truck sucks in the snow. I want my edge back.

Battery Saver System malfunction in 2011 Edge
macbwt replied to Janet Willard's topic in Welcome Forum!
Janet No response from you local ford dealer yet? Wonder why they are avoiding contact with you? -
A lock button was touched at some time during the process. Get the code set on the door and keep it handy or like they say a number you can remember. Like a hose number, dogs birthday something. Just don't put in 1234.

Funny thing I told the body shop estimater that when the deer hit the passenger side it peeled off most of the chrome on the passenger side mirror. He informed me that he did not think the insurance company would buy off on that explaination. LOL

2014 Edge AWD ----ABS making loud noise
macbwt replied to bubbadewsky's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
My ABS made a loud noise today. Not as loud as that deer smashing my front end to pieces though. -
Actually watch the video no time is cut when I hit the deer. I did not say a word. Also notice I did not stay stopped long either. Hit too many to have anything to say about it. This is the second deer for the 2008, plus a side swipe and front end damge from a truck retread. Now the side swipe and front end damage are all going to be repaired. Bonus I get a rejuvenated Ford Edge. Sheet metal anyway. I was driving with a guy one time that hit a deer and he screamed like a little girl. That made swear told him to grow a pair. Then I hit a deer with him in this same car and he screamed like a girl again. Some people.

The video pretty much tells the story. $3,300.00 in damage. The insurance company will fix it!! I was surprised since it has 271,000 miles on it. The body shop stated that the damages according to their records only amounted to 30 percent of the value of the vehicle. These guys must run on a different set of papers than the car dealer as they say my car is only worth 2k for trade. LOL

Well I will let the video describe how things happened. 2008 Ford Edge is now in the body shop getting preened. By the way the body shop folks love "grilled" venison. LOL

They tricked me and now i am driving a nissan leaf, just shoot me now. Just kidding 2014 Chevy Suburban. I can live with it better than the minivan option.

I just hit a deer with my 2008 ford edge this morning and my wife calls me in panic mode because she accidently hit the emergency flasher button and could not figure out how to turn it off.
-
Yep now the Edge is going to get a little spa time for a week or so. Good news is the front end will be replaced and all the peeling chrome will be replaced with fresh new chrome. I even get a new horn as it does not work now, headlight, interior wheel well cover, fender etc. Maybe even a new passenger door. When i hit the deer I clipped it and it spun around and hit the passenger side door denting it. Going to be picking up the rental car soon I hope probably and kia (I pray not).

Well the 2008 at 525am this morning suffered a near catastophic collision. I was driving the back roads of Iowa and hit a deer. Looks like over 3k in damage. (second deer strike with the 2008) looks like my insurance will be fixing it. So the 2008 will get a short rest for a week or so while I clock some miles on a rental. I will post the video of me hitting the deer and photos of the damage along with the video of the sherrif putting the deer out of it's misery. I did not kill it when i hit it and he went up the road and finished the job.

Not really sure what I will choose for rotors and pads. I really like the high carbon rotors with ceramic pads I installed on the Trailblazer. Quietest rotor/pad combination I have ever had on a vehicle. I will definately put them on the 2011 when the time comes.

Starting to notice some front rotor vibration.100k on the fronts so may be needing to replace rotors later spring depending on how bad they get.

Used but new to us 2011 Ford Edge Limited (second addition)

Couple of things came to mind today when I drove the 2011 Ford Edge> 1) where in the world is this woman driving to? I thought I would save money on gas but she is clocking the mileage on this 2011. She must like it. 2) I guess you could say my family is now a double Edged sword. LOL -
Looking For Extended Warranty - 2013 Edge w/ 70,000 Miles
macbwt replied to JeffRow's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
I agree set the money aside and go from there. I have an extended warranty and those folks work extremely hard not to have to pay anything. Then it takes forever for them to make a decision when the time comes to actually pay along with verifications, tests, etc etc etc. -

Just remember once your monitor says change the oil it means change the oil. Oil that breaks down becomes very thin and watery while losing it's viscocity and ability to protect from metal on metal wear. It took me years just to break the 3k oil change habit and you still have oil change places that put stickers with the 3k oil change reminder. After all they make more money when you change your oil more often. I feel comfortable in my old habits of 5-6 k oil changes and view it as cheap insurance. The 2011 has a monitor on it and i will most likely follow it to a point 20 percent left and I will change it.

No my 2008 Edge has no oil monitoring system with the exception of the one mounted on top of my shoulders.

My 2008 Ford Edge makes more creaky sounds than my wifes 2011. Wonder if I should worry?

JOJO, Not seeing the math working for you on this tow. Dangerously close with just the VW then if you add a tow dolly. Does the edge have trans cooler? Trans Cooler $, plus labor $, plus hitch and wiring $ = $$$ not to mention if you do not have a trans cooler your new transmission. That 900 sure starts looking like a good deal. I tow but with a truck that can handle the weights and you are at your limits with the edge I would also say you will have to place it down a gear or two to keep it from hunting and thus buring up the tranny. Even on slight hills.

Used but new to us 2011 Ford Edge Limited (second addition)
macbwt replied to macbwt's topic in Welcome Forum!
Glad to see I am not the only one that gets the hand me down, which is why I push to buy as close to what I want in the future. Interesting little change ford has made to the Edge. My 2008 Ford Edge is registered as a TRUCK my 2011 Ford Edge is registered as a MULTI PURPOSE. Not sure how this change affects things but I bet it has to do with EPA mileage. Especially scine they are now getting the Edge into the mid to high 20's. I think they chose Truck so Ford could use the lower mileage to their advantage with the EPA.
