    I must be lucky with drive axles with about 500k miles on three edges I have never had a drive axle fail. Then again I would rather it be a drive axle than an alternator that replacement was a pain.

    Go OEM for the drive axle replacement you will be dissatisfied with aftermarket. Easy repair if you have the tools. Would save a lot of $$$$

    A few after the job observations with the electrical charging system. Today I noticed my interior heating and venting controls are doing exactly the job they are supposed to do and direct the heat and control the amount of heat as I set it at. Before this alternator and battery replacement I was experiencing variable control issues and lack of direction of the ventilation system and actuators. I am of the belief that the failing alternator and battery low voltage were causing the heating and AC controls to not perform correctly and amounted to erratic behavior. My opinion but things are now operating great. Struts and sway bar links are now replaced. I had a lot of built up maintenance and now am tire and feel like I have accomplished some maintenance that was put off for awhile. This should keep Lullubelle going down the road for awhile hopefully without further need for major repairs for the near future. And now to work on 150 gigs of video which will spawn many videos as I have found that I also had to perform other tasks that can be beneficial for other repairs. I need a nap!!!

    New alternator in and has been verified. All systems go now. I had to drive back after just a block because of traction control lights and check engine light. Mechanic open the hood to verify my connects and said well this is your problem you did not reconnect your MAF sensor. Plugged it in and no light. Traction control turn off eventually after scan. The TC light came on because I was running the Edge while up on the lift and had the right tire off. NO LIGHTS!! all is good. Struts and sway bar links tomorrow.

    Wow and wow I am sold on this battery. The Edge starts soooooo fast now it was like it was on drugs and lethergic before now it has lots of zip. Getting the same battery for my wife's Edge. I am sold on this battery.

    Now to install this battery!!! Going to take the old motorcraft back to the Ford Dealer for a new one. Wonder what kind of grief they are going to give me? At least I will have a spare battery and it is always nice to have a spare. My camper battery is dead so guess I may put it in the camper.

    I purchased the Odyssey Extreme AGM Battery to replace the lower powered 540CCA Motorcraft battery that is failing (second battery) I will say it most likely is not the fault of the Motorcraft battery but the failure of the internal voltage regulator in the 2011 Ford Edge which has cause repeated drains on the battery and caused it to prematurely fail. Good news is I am taking the Motorcraft battery back for replacement and will have it on hand for a spare. This Odyssey battery has a 4 year full replacement warranty and 950 CCA's should start the Edge without a problem. It is also a Deep Cycle battery that can withstand 80 percent discharges over 400 cycles without damage, which is where the motorcraft battery was the weakest.

    Battery arrived ready for lift off tomorrow!! Now repeat after me.... I will not break anything, I will not break anything, I will not break anything....LOL

    I had some of the same issues and found that the voltage regulator was charging but not charging enough to run the loads in the car and charge the battery. I am installing a new alternator this weekend and new battery. Here is a video on the solar and see my signature for my youtube channel on Ford Edge repairs.

    I guess I could say either way the hood struts or the prop bar would be in the way. The Hood struts would definitely be in the way to work on the struts for replacement based on my experience.

    I am getting this Odessy battery delivered tomorrow 950CCA and an AGM battery. Should crank up the Edge in even the coldest weather plus full replacement for four years. I will be making a video on this battery for a review when it arrives. Note: A little on the pricy side but if it lasts for 7-10 like they are touting then it will be worth it. http://www.odysseybattery.com

    shumax, Unfortunately I only installed one set of brake pads and rotors on my Orange Crush 2008 Ford Edge. The first set on the front went 175,000 miles and the rears went for 225,000 miles. This was before I started making video's. Anyway as far as the rear brake noise you can install these low frequency noise dampeners on your 2007?2008? forget which you said you had. I do know the rear brakes are more conventional in the 2007-2010 model then in 2011 they integrated the emergency brake into the caliper. Just click on this video and then go to my channel and you will find about 80 plus Ford Edge repair videos with a strut video being made this weekend.

    You don't even need to clean them just install them the remaining coating is zinc and will help prevent them from rusting on unused sections. Pretty common now. Mine were coated black and the instructions said just install and drive.

    Received the motorcraft alternator today. Friday I install it. Video of R/R will be post once finished. This is a review of the new alternator.

    The little i may also be asking you to perform a vehicle health report along with demanding you buy into the sirius radio thing. My wifes is on all the time and I just ignore it.

    Try this route, pretty simple and was very easy.

    You need to test your alternator and voltage regulator. I am willing to bet a lot of batteries are dying because the Ford system does not register the failure just like my system sends no Battery Light. Yet the voltage regulator is bad and sends a battery saver notice. Check out how I determined this to be the case.

    Or for me rumble strips and cutting corners on curbs. But I digress. Alternator and belts will be delivered by mid week. Battery may arrive Friday. New 30 watt car hood shop light will be delivered by Tuesday. More light means better video and easier to see the work. My issue lately is I am loosing sight in my left eye due to cataract so have to deal with it until Insurance says I am legally blind enough in my left eye to have the surgery.

    For about 70 bucks this little SOLAR BA7 will check your battery and charging system. I found it to be very reliable

    I am hoping the wheel noise I am hearing while driving at high speed and changing lanes is just the sound of the snow tires......but it may not be. I am sure if it is what I expect it to be it will get louder. I guess I am getting the mileage high enough now that I should start expecting wheel bearing failure. Any bets it is the right front? Why does the right front go through more wheel bearings than any other wheel on my Edge's?
