  1. O2 sensors would throw a code. Your cat could be damaged due to a rich fuel mixture. I however would suspect the Throttle body. You may wish to clean it out good with some Throttle body cleaner. Low cost item to check and clean and easy to do. Worst case the TB is not working correctly.
  2. Just did a temp check on all vents to see if there is an issue with the actuators or blend doors. Each one under dual settings changed the temp to the same temp when adjusted. I did note that the heat will put out over 165 degrees at max setting and at minimum setting 61 degrees it will be about 63 degrees on all vents. I however found the sweet spot at 67-68 degrees where you either can tolerate the setting or get very warm. Not much in between and a very wide temp swing. I will have to measure this some more. Might be the blend door is swinging open too much.
  3. I have not really looked yet to see what type of clearance there is. All I know and remember is that the clearance under the cowl is very tight on the drivers side and could barely get my fingers into that area and it was not fun to get it tightened up either. Maybe there is more clearance in the 2011 (most likely not). Thank for the info.
  4. WWW any info on how to remove the top plastic cowling to access the strut bearing mount nuts? I am seriously thinking about getting an alldata one year subscription so I have some access to repair information at home. Driving to Rock Island for a simple question sort of sucks.
  5. OK question. I have the two Edges. One (blueberry) definately has HID lights I can see the ballast on the back of the lights. Lullubelle does not. What type of lighting is it that she has in the headlights? Just regular standard bulbs?
  6. It is under a Ford Warranty as Certified so I will be getting it into the shop to have it repaired or CLEANED (Repaired) as it were. Funny I do not have that issue with my good ole Lullubelle.
  7. Make sure it is seated. Then look down to the right side and see the plastic tabs. Lift the left side up so that it is like a clam shell then push hard to insert the tabs into the slots. once all the way in then push down on the left side (no matter how much she complains) then once down clamp the two metal spring clamps into place and the spring clamps will take some effort. Result.....Next time will be much easier and enjoyable. The rest of you just have dirty minds.......LOL
  8. I think it is mostly just due to being 8 years old. I had an issue with the TSS and OSS sensors and once changed out. It ran great. Highest mileage vehicle I have ever owned. You are right about staying away from the AWD from a maintenance perspective.
  9. Blueberry is having a shift to park issue. Twice now. No message. What happens is when MOMOSHA parks she must not be using enough force to make sure the lever is clicked into park. NO warning lights or messages. The problem symptom is when she goes to remote start the Blueberry only Double beeps and will not start. I went out and checked all doors opening and closing them. I then started it and put it into gear then placed it into park. When I placed into park I distinctly heard and felt a delayed click in the shift lever. I then locked the door and pushed the remote start and it started. I am guessing the shift to park thing is starting to show it's ugly head.
  10. I assume your method and time includes going out to the parts store buying the MERCON LV fluid which is hard to find sometimes in enough quantities then driving back home. Then crawling under your Edge. That is pretty quick time parts store must be behind your house. Anyway 30 minutes (drive and flush) and I get a coffee and not dirty. 150.00 and done. Plus I know it is done correctly as the shop I use has been doing this for me for over 10 years. I get enjoyment out of it most likely you get enjoyment out of the way you do it. Cost wise/time wise. We both weigh our time differently, but this is once every 6-7 month maintenance for me due to my driving habits so I economize my time.
  11. My battery saver is coming on often and then again not displaying. Of course I have abused the battery several times by draining when I leave it parked and forgetting to unplug the dashcams/GPS. I am thinking of going to an Interstate 65 series battery like my wife has in her Edge. The battery in the edge I drive is a Motorcraft battery that has been in it for about a year with just about 40k miles on it now.
  12. I think I will stick to my decision to use the machine. Been working for me since 2010 so why change. Interesting seeing and watching what you folks are doing. Just a lot of time involved.
  13. Not to mention the rear calipers are also emergency brakes and just switching even if they worked would leave you with all sorts of other brake issues not to mention non functioning emergency brakes.
  14. Most videos I have watched only cover the installation of the photo to the SYNC/MFT. This video takes you from the point of taking the photo then going to your computer and re-sizing it to the 800x384 size and then uploading it into your MFT/SYNC for wall paper It also shows you what happens when you have the incorrect type or size of photo for uploading and the subsequent error message. Follow this video and learn how to create and change your wallpaper on your FORD (all models with display)
  15. Several reasons. Ford ran out of FWD smaller rotors so improvised. or the previous owner if there was one decided to upgrade the brake system which does happen. Either way you ended up with a bit better brake system. Just have to remember this when you have the brakes repaired as you could end up with the wrong parts.
  16. The full process from taking the photo, changing it on your computer then installing it on your Ford Edge. WALLPAPER explained. CB makes a guest appearance.
  17. Right rear wheel bearing. Just guessing based on past experience and other reports. But check the left one also. Replace them both if you are able to do so. Or wait and turn up the volume on the radio either way you will have to address it sooner or later. Just remember once the noise stops you are in trouble. That means you have no bearing left.
  18. Actually the opposite. Only dampers on the rears none on the fronts. I have heard that if you buy a higher end vehicle like a lambo you get the dampers on the front. LOL
  19. It would most likely help if you took the rear brakes apart and cleaned all the rust out of everything and re-greased all the contact points in the pads and calipers then the shims. Do not grease the pads you could clean them with some brake cleaner also. Most likely rust is causing your issue. Ultimately if you wash it then drive it you are heating up the brakes and not allowing the moisture to sit on the rotors and cause surface rusting as quickly. It is over four years so some brake inspection and maintenance would be a great idea. There is a video on this for a 2011 which would apply to your Edge.
  20. I recently installed a filter minder in my Ford Edge. 1st you will find these on trucks mostly and diesels. I installed my filter minder for the purpose of knowing when the filter is actually no longer performing. This means the air flow to the engine has been restricted and is very dirty or clogged. You can not tell the filter is not working properly by just looking at it and 99 percent of us look at our filters and change them just on observation and not data. This device provides a visual for you to actually see when your filter needs to be changed. I paid for this device so it is not a paid advertisement. It is because I drive 60K miles a year and I am tired of the quick lube places trying to upsell an air filter because it looks dirty. This device will pay for it's self just by not having to purchase so many air filters because they look dirty. Save some money.
  21. Might be a contact related issue on a circuit. Checking some of the connections for "green boogers" may be the issue or just a lazy connector that gets jarred just right. Hard to tell but most likely it will show up eventually when the edge fails to start.
  22. After driving Blueberry this morning I have Deducted (no pun intended) that Lullubelle has a dead drivers side floor vent. No air movement and my heat is is very erratic. Guessing I will have to take it in for a check up to see what has failed then depending on how far into the dash I have to go if I repair it or the dealer does.
  23. If you have an impact of that nature. The location of your battery is rather irrelevant.
  24. Finally installed that AEM filter minder on Lullubelle.
  25. Nothing more fun than making repairs and videos outside in the rain.
