Neither of my 2011's have a wiper issue. If I did I most likely would perform swap tronics due to the low cost and ease of replacing the wiper control. IF that did not fix it then diagnostics would be in order.

2009 FWD 100k Mile Suspension Overhaul - Help w/ Partslist
macbwt replied to Chingon's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I would install new rear shocks because when they wear out the rear shocks tend to cause bad wear on the tires. If you can replace the rear shocks and front struts. You will like the change in the ride.- 15 replies

I had a battery that was dying and had no battery light and everything was seemingly OK, but a close scrutiny of the charging system revealed that the alternator was putting out just enough charge to say it was working and if you do not REALLY REALLY investigate it and test it hard you will not find the problem turned out the voltage regulator could charge under idle but when a load was placed on it it charged but not enough to keep up with all the accessories running. This video shows the issue.

I convinced my wife to lay under the car and record video while I drove it back and forth. LOL Just kidding don't do that!!! I just laid the camera facing up or propped it a bit facing up then went for it. The second video I used my gopro which really worked pretty well. by the way that clinking noise with the 2008 video is the right front sway bar link that I discovered was broken. The 2011 test shows how a good condition torque mount should behave.

Most likely all you really need is new struts and strut bearing mounts. Check the ball joints and if worn then replace them also. I just changed the front struts and sway bar links on m 2011 and that was it. Ball joints were in good shape. You can view the videos on MACTFORDEDGE on youtube or go to Double Edged in this topic of this forum and see the video installation.- 15 replies

Not saying it is the transmission torque mount, but your Edge has some low miles on it for the Transmission Torque mount or motor mounts to fail. Not that it is not possible for a failure. Easy to check. Hit the E brake and then start putting it into gear fwd and rev then watch the mounts and transmission torque mount. I have two videos showing a failed torque mount on a 2008 and a good mount on a 2011 hope this helps. The drivers side motor mount is located under the air box.

A bit of dielectric grease in the boots will help out a bunch when the next change has to occur.

How to remove and install new struts DIY Video
macbwt replied to macbwt's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
You will know if you did not get it down tight enough on the top strut nut as it will start making a thumping sound while driving. The guy helping with the strut assembly has more experience than I will ever have so the impact was used. Right or wrong it worked well with a deep well socket.- 4 replies

Where did you get these instructions? I like them.
-
Because my first Edge made it to 285,000 miles and was dependable.
-
With coils not firing and the injectors malfunctioning this could lead to raw fuel being dumped into the CAT and causing it to over heat and melt or break apart.
-
Did you remove the engine cover to help get some of the heat away from that area.
-
Never a good video if I do not break something. Wait until you see me go full Gorilla on my MAF sensor in an upcoming video.
-
Why would you want to install a foam insulator on top of your engine to encourage additional heat to be trapped and heat up all your parts and coils? I donated my 2011 cover to the mice for bedding.

If there is coolant in #2 the only real way to get in there is internally. check your oil. What does it look like?
