I think you embarrassed him now. Now I understand why his log on is WWW. humm the story is starting to be pieced together. I bet his Edge is nothing more than a sleeping dragon.

No doubt WWW, but Blueberry was the star of the show this afternoon. She had a battery Booger problem and I was not feeling myself in the beginning. LOL

2007 AWD suspension refresh - help with parts
macbwt replied to shumax's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I can not help but come back to the snow tires. What brand and type? Just to be certain on this. Keep in mind the tires you buy can make a world of difference in the ride and handling. Also note snow tires are not high speed performance tires for the most part and this is especially true the cheaper you go in price. -
2007 AWD suspension refresh - help with parts

Things can get confusing. The wabble you talk about. Does it occur 1) When accelerating 2) when decelerating 3) when coasting 4) when braking 5) when not braking 6) when turning right at highs speed 7) when turning left at high speed. Many questions and many symptoms associated with this. Were tires remounted to balance? Were snow tires installed? if so were they installed in the rotation required by the manufacturer. Also did this wabble occur after a snow fall? IF so the most common thing is snow or mud dirt in the wheels and a simple power wash at the car wash would fix that. -
As with all things if you leave the parts replacement to the installer you will get the (generally) cheapest rotors and pads they can find. I have used ceramic pads and high quality carbon steel rotors and this has put an end to the brake issues for me. Brakes are a job you can do yourself with minimal tools. Plus if you do it yourself you will know it was done with care and correctly. Seems like the folks you went to were parts swappers and made money off of you without actually trying to be an honest mechanic.

2007 AWD suspension refresh - help with parts

Or just a plain bad tire, separated belts -
This is exactly why I do not work on transmissions. My own opinion but I tend to break things when I work on them then have to fix them and this would be the last thing I would want to break. Too expensive.
-
Getting the time is now the issue. I have all the parts. Just sitting in my basement waiting. Nice to be busy, but so busy now my boss talked to me about the possibility of bringing in back up so that I can continue to grow the division. Great way to close out the year.

There's my Christmas present

Or go to a junk yard. You may also find the bolt at a (dare I say it) Golf cart dealer.

Sad thing is those sensors do not throw codes until they fail completely and with bad luck you wife would end up on the side of the road with a 700 dollar repair. Better to replace them, but also keep in mind in some aspects you will need Ford programming I believe to refresh the new sensors to acknowledge the replacements to the PCM or some thing like that. I understand this is not just a parts swapping job. But then again maybe the Ford dealer lied to me to get the work. Check and be diligent.

Lullubelle is complaining. I think I have a left front strut that is getting weak. Hit some bumps and the feed back was equivalent to me telling MOMOSHA I did not want to go Christmas shopping with her. LOL

2007 AWD suspension refresh - help with parts
macbwt replied to shumax's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
That is great news and yes new suspension parts make the difference. Just a thought. I hope you swapped the tires from front to back and not front to front. Also check to make sure the snow tires are NOT DIRECTIONAL and the rotation is correct. If they are directional then you need to fix that by swapping the tires or having them remounted. You sure the tires are on tight? Bad rim that now shows up with new suspension. Have an alignment performed then see if it corrects the wabbly wabbly wabbit -
Not even gonna try. Old brittle bones do not heal fast. LOL. More like under hood engine video and some good suspension video before and after with the new struts etc.

Monthly oil change done. 32 days and about 5100 miles. Plus they put in new license plate screws since the car wash bent the license place up and blocked my rear view camera.

2007 AWD suspension refresh - help with parts
macbwt replied to shumax's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
The only reason the bolts would not fit or thread is they bought the wrong bolts. If you bought the bolts from a Dealer and are OEM they should fit. I would wait until they arrive. Then do the work. This way you have the new bolts and in your mind if and on the off chance they do not work yo will have the old ones to reuse. Then later you can install the new bolts one at a time without having to disassemble or just leave it. Depending on the rust of course. Mine as you saw in the video were pretty rusted and unusable. -
Actually did the video to distract myself from all the work this week. I am now completely booked through the end of the year. Never happened before and my January is already booked. This might turn out to be a very good year for me in 2016. Just wishing for time to work on the suspension.

Talk about a refresh. You should appreciate the new handling and ride. I did. -
Nothing really to work on due to time constraints with holidays. Thought I would play a little. Lady at my office has a nearly identical 2011 Ford Edge and we parked in the same area. Here are the results.

Also check the seal to ensure it was installed properly back on top of the tank. If the seal has fallen down during installation you will get a gas smell inside. The seal that fits between the top of the fuel pump and the tank to be specific.

I might be incorrect but I believe the suspension and ride you talk about being better are a little bit off in your opinion. I believe the MKX and Edge all share identical suspension components. LCA, Struts, etc. they are interchangable. The only difference may be due to some wheel sizes but then again those are interchangable also with Edges of the same wheel size. Thus you are not receiving an upgraded suspension system any more or less than a compariable Edge.

Think my Edge is electronically possessed... lol
macbwt replied to heatherhb21's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Keep in mind that a non remote start 2011 Edge uses a different series battery than the remote start 2011 Edge. I have one of each and each one requires a different series battery. I can not remember right now but one was possibly a 55 while the other with remote was a 65 series. Something like that. -
I keep it simple and just turn it off or unplug it. I have two and leave the rear one running 24/7 plus a GPS ( i turn off the GPS) The one rear camera does not drain the battery, but all three combined will drain the battery!!
