Driver floor is SOAKING WET
WingNut replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
That is funny. An official stop sale order was not issued according to this Ford spokesman: http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/1507-ford-refutes-reports-on-2015-edge-stop-sale/- 480 replies

It reads to me like any vehicle WITH signs of water damage can be bought back.

Yup. My edge was built within that time frame and doesn't have the issue. By looking in to the area it says the sealer is missing, I couldn't see any sealer on mine. Nor could I see any sign of moisture getting to the area even after it rained. I still had it patched up.- 480 replies

They were aware of the issue a while back and then started issuing notices to the dealers about the fix. I'm just curious why they waited so long to do a stop sale if they knew of the issue so long ago. Probably because of the backorder on parts to replace carpet, etc. Which will lead to lemon law claims. So hopefully they are just saying it is best we just buy back these cars because fixing them are taking too long, they are brand spanking new, and we'll get an influx of Lemons anyway.- 480 replies

They leak while sitting still for sure. And I'm sure driving also. People have been able to replicate the issue by running a hose over the vehicle in their driveway.- 480 replies

Have you verified if the fix was done? You can pop the hood and look back behind the hood hinge to see if the sealer was applied. If you need a pic, let me know and I can post it again.- 480 replies

Ford talking about stop sales and buy backs around the same time the media starts asking questions. Coincidence?

I think the stop sale, if initiated at all, would have been done in the last few days. Before that, I don't think the dealers had instructions on checking for this issue prior to sale. Maybe some did....maybe some didn't. I would only get pissed at the dealer if they were told to fix this thing prior to sales, and they didn't.- 480 replies

I have seen a few (2-3) here that have said they are getting a buy back. Which is very positive news. But like you said I hope they step up and help everyone with this issue. Not just the ones who complain about it.- 480 replies

Agree. But I'm very curious when the "stop sale" was issued? What was sent to the dealers? Because, IMO, I think that is bullsh*t fed to the press. I think truly stepping up is replacing every car that showed signs of a leak. Because water + electrical connections = disaster down the road.- 480 replies

Sounds like this to me: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17892-2015-sport-complete-loss-of-boost/ Especially the fact you heard a popping sound. They need to check to ensure that hose is connected properly.

Curious which plastic piece you are talking about. Because I can clearly see where the fix was done on my Edge and many others have posted pics of the same area.

It is probably a combination of failures within production...including QC checks.

I have yet to see anything that have gone to dealers saying they are issuing stop sales. I can guarantee today I could walk in to a dealer with an Edge on the lot that was built within the date range that was affected, and they'd sell me the car. Also I'd bet that car wouldn't have the fix.

1. Keep taking the car back if it is showing symptoms of issues 2. Research the Lemon Law requirements in your state 3. Once your vehicle has met the requirements, file for lemon law. 4. Enjoy the new car you'll get or the check they'll give you.

LOL I'd tell that rental company that they can come and handle the flat. Not my car. Bring me something else while you get this thing repaired. The hell if I'm running around town getting a rental car repaired.- 480 replies

If you don't like it, disable it. If you base your car buying on a fog light, that is pretty stupid IMO. What I'd like to see is the Fog Lights the Edge have in the Chinese Market:

You don't have to pay for an attorney when it comes to Lemon Laws. Of course you can, but it isn't required. Why do this? Because Ford sold a defective car and people have the right to get their money back or a replacement. Ford isn't "Stepping up to the plate" when it comes to Lemon Laws. They have no other choice at that point. Fixing a defective car is not "Stepping up to the plate"....they have to because of warranty. Stepping up to the plate would have been: - Alerted all dealers / customers immediately when problem was realized. Not weeks down the road. - Told dealers to not sell any of the vehicles that could be affected until a fix was done and they can be inspected to ensure there is no smell or mold. OR scrapping those cars that did show signs of water inside. - Took the carpets from the factory and sent them to affected customers instead of making them wait on the "backorder". If you can produce them at the factory, you aren't on backorder. But backorder has led to Lemon Law claims so enjoy the buy back. - Provided some incentive to the affected customers. This can be cash or an extended warranty that covers electrical issues and rust. If I'm dropping $40k on a car and it springs a leak that can't be fixed for weeks after owning it for a few days, I am going to be pissed. And even more pissed because Ford is not helping except saying they'll replace some carpet and put you in a rental. That is not cool. I just dropped $40k on a car, I have to make my payments, but now I'm being thrown in to a rental for almost a month (in some cases)? Then you have the thought of if this will cause issues down the road with the electrical systems. Or rust. or Mold. Or a mildew smell. That will give you stress. Ford should have scrapped these cars and fired the incompetent fool who was responsible for setting something up incorrectly.- 480 replies

Something needs to trigger it to come down? Is the hands free options causing this? Because I could see this happening while loading things in to the back after it has been opened.

I haven't had any luck in the past with Case #s. Had one for an issue with my Mustang. Didn't really do much since the dealer had to deal with Ford corporate anyway.- 480 replies
