What do you mean "worth the trouble"? A detailing spray is good for a quick touch up that may add a little gloss and a slick feel. Detailing sprays rarely have any kind of long lasting protective properties. I only use detailing spray to do spot clean ups from water spots, bird poop, etc. Once the car has been driven for a few days and outside, I will usually just wash it if it needs touching up due to dust and other stuff. I really like spray waxes to top my sealants with. I'll use them as a drying aid every few weeks.

Weathertech Cargo Mat Available!
WingNut replied to ScooterS's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I had the same concern about the WeatherTechs in my Mustang. What you can do to be extra safe is get some of that sticky carpet protectant plastic that you'll see in new homes for potential buyers to walk on. Put some of that on the carpet and then put in your WeatherTechs in the winter. -

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
WingNut replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
On a side note, it rained last night. My Mustang was outside. I get in it this morning, move a few feet, and it sounds like an aquarium has been installed in my rear quarter panel. Looks like Ford screwed up some sealing by the wheel well according to the Mustang Forums. Their robots must be retarded.- 480 replies

Seats giving me a back problem
WingNut replied to Mike Tollin's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You are out of your mind. They should not be required to tell you what other customers feel about the car as a warning to you. Not one single person selling one single item is going to do this and I don't blame them. You want to know what people feel about a car? Go read the forums and reviews online to see what the complaints are. Can you imagine sitting with a dealer and he telling you stupid things like - Some people don't like how the instrument cluster is laid out - some people don't like the jack that comes with the spare tire - some people don't like the gas fillup being on the Left - some people don't like how the windshield wipers work YOU should have done your research and requested a longer test drive. If the car was too new to get good info online, wait until the next model year. Good luck getting it lemon'd for an uncomfortable seat LOL. -

You know you can adjust the tilt on the headrests right? -
I agree...it is too hard to tell which will have long term affects (rust / electrical) and which will not. And that is why I feel any that had pooling water should be bought back.

Seats giving me a back problem
WingNut replied to Mike Tollin's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
People are reporting the back gets too warm when the cooling is turned on. Same issue the F150 has. -

LOL @ uncomfortable seat complaint as 1 count against lemon law. Come on man. Comparability of seat is purely a personal thing. I too have driven many brands. I didn't like the seats in my GFs car, yet she found it comfortable, and a lot of other people found them comfortable. Maybe I'll try to get a strike toward the lemon law because I don't like the button placement on my radio. -
Why do you keep talking about a warranty? This is not a breakdown. This is a defect in their manufacturing. It is one thing to install something correctly and it fails. It is another to not build something to spec and sell it.

Not every car that had pooling is getting a buy back. Go read the posts about guys in Canada that are waiting more than a month with nothing but a rental car. No clear communication from Ford about what is going on with parts or their brand new car that is sitting on a dealer's service lot waiting. If the car leaked and had enough water in it to make the carpet soggy, it is defective and Ford should buy them back. A few drops? Tell me how you measure "a few drops". If you have paid attention to this issue, nobody was complaining about a few drops in their car. They were coming out to soggy carpets and must smells. That is unacceptable in a new car and no owner should have to deal with something like the being repaired. I'm happy to see Ford has stepped up. I hope the guys in Canada get the same resolution instead of being put off while making payments on a car waiting for carpet.

Correct. Because I just went out there again, opened up my passenger door, plugged in my charger, and no power. I didn't turn the car on at all.

Apples/Oranges. 1. Factory defect that results in water leaking in to the cabin and pooling 2. Simple warranty fixes (i.e. Wiper Fluid Pump stops working) 3. Accident

I'd say the fee may be a distractor, but if you look around there are a lot of White Platinum which also came with the fee.

I wasn't aware that it provided uninterrupted power. This weekend my Edge was off and I needed to charge my phone. So I plugged in my car charger to the 12v port on the passenger side, and there was no power. That I remember*. So I ended up just using one of my portable chargers. *Note: I was under the influence of about a 12 pack at that point. So take it for what it's worth.

Give credit to a company who builds a defective product and takes that product back? Is this how complacent we have become? If I build a product, and it has a failure like this, my customer should not expect anything less than a replacement at no cost to them. I don't care if it is a car, a chair, or a filing cabinet. It seems so many people give them too much slack because they are building cars. Which are expensive and complex machines. But they forget people are paying ~$40k for these vehicles.....they should never, ever leak water. Ever. And if they do, they should be returned and salvaged. I guess my take on Customer Satisfaction is different than most. I would never allow one of my customers to just deal with a product that I didn't build to spec.

Rain Sensing wipers
WingNut replied to Frisco1522's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The rain sensing wipers kind of annoy me. So I don't use the option. -
Stoners with a microfiber cloth or glass cleaning cloth. If you wash those cloths with the regular laundry, avoid fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Give them an extra rinse and hang to dry. If the inside of the windshield is bad, I'll use a warm damp microfiber at first followed up with a dry microfiber. Then hit it with Stoners. Avoid doing this in hot sun.

Maybe this will help: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8477-lost-keypad-entry-code/

Not off the top of my head....sorry. For future reference take a picture of the code card, or email yourself the code, or save it in your phone somehow. This was a tip from my father when I first bought the Edge. Sure enough the first time I need my code, I forgot it. So just opened up my phone, went to the pic, and bam. For some reason you always forget it when you need it most. I've been meaning to change it to the pin I like to use with a lot of things.

All Ford Edges Now on Factory Hold?
WingNut replied to xbillmh's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I agree with this to a certain point. Yes there are always holds during production. No the customer doesn't have to hear about every one. But there is a line when Ford SHOULD be communicating with their customers about issues (like the leak). And if a customer has placed a special order, there should be length of time when Ford should be telling the customer why things are continuing to be delayed. When you leave people in the dark for prolonged periods of time, it stinks of cover-up. Be honest and up-front.
