How would you characterize the paint quality on your second gen. Edge?
WingNut replied to Chipster's topic in Exterior & Body
I'm happy with the paint so far. I have not seen any blemishes or any bad orange peeling. Swirl marks aren't from the factory, it is from someone washing/drying incorrectly or polishing/waxing incorrectly. Of course metallic colors will show swirls less than a flat color. -
Some of the issues that have popped up (and not for ALL of us) are: - Leaky A-Pillar. This issue has been resolved. But if the one you are looking at was built before June 1, I'd make sure that (a) the fix has been done to it and ( there is no sign of water damage inside (musty smells, damp carpet/insulation). FYI mine was built April 10 yet never leaked. They still applied the fix to my car to be safe. - Cooled seats. Some are reporting when you run the cooling seats option, the back can become warm....instead of cool. The F150s have the same issue so this is ongoing. I don't use the feature much, so I don't pay it much attention. - Rattles. Some have reported a few rattles here and there. Nothing major and some easy do-it-yourself fixes. - Roof Rack. If it doesn't have the roof rails from the factory, your only option is a 3rd party roof rack. You can't just swap in the side rails like past years. Just look around the 2015 section and you'll see threads on these issues. I love my 15 and would recommend it to anyone looking at one.

Not that I'm aware of. The SEL was the first 15 Edge I drove and the quietness of the cabin stood out like crazy. I was amazed how quiet it was. But there is only one way to find out for yourself. Go drive a SEL then a Sport/Titanium.

Throw it in Sport Mode (S below the D on the shifter) and really have some fun.
-
Yes you can sell it on Ebay. Looks like they've been selling for $35-40 on eBay. *Note. Your car must be equipped with the navigation option for this to work. Throwing this SD card in to the slot of a car without navigation won't do anything.

Bingo. You must work in Quality. As do I.

Yea it is very disconcerting. Little things that come with increased options/technology in vehicles I can live with (i.e. Cooling seats issue)....but water leaks is a Quality / Engineering fail. I still feel confident that my Edge will be solid for 5 years easy. It is a 3 year lease so we'll see how I feel then about grabbing another Ford, buying my Edge, or looking elsewhere. I hope I can stay with Ford.

If this is true, I don't blame Ford. After seeing the mess Fiat/Chrysler is dealing with right now, I'd probably make sure they are producing lemon after lemon.

2015 Edge Sport Towing
WingNut replied to built2prfctn's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
It won't void your warranty. And if they try to say it does, they have to prove how adding a hitch resulted in whatever issue you are currently having. -

I use Opti-Seal and man is it awesome. The bottle has lasted me for years and I still have 75% left. That is after applying it at least 6-7 times to a car. A little bit goes a long way. Just spray on pad, apply, and keep moving. No buffing. Just don't use a lot. One spray will do an entire panel. If you use too much, you'll see what looks like a greasy stain from it not absorbing. Quick wipe and it is gone. And since it is so easy to apply, using it every few months is simple.

Not trying to take away from this issue at all..... ...but I was just sitting here thinking about how we are complaining about our cooled seats not working. Something we have lived without forever. My grandpa would probably call me a p*ssy if I talked to him about my cooled seats warming my back up. I was young, but I do remember when most cars didn't have A/C and you had to crank your window down for some relief. But I understand that this is a feature these days and we paid for it. So it should work.

Rubbing noise from front when turning left or right
WingNut replied to kaushen79's topic in Exterior & Body
The reason I asked is I had a car that would make a rubbing/groaning noise when I would turn. Turns out it was the tire shifting on the wheel. Once I swapped out tires, the noise went away. But it looks like that isn't the case here. Please keep us posted.- 17 replies

Yes. Because there have been some supposed "changes" that will "fix" the problem. People still having the issues. Ford knows. Hopefully they have some sort of re-design in the works for the F150. And if it is the same issue with the Edge, hopefully the "fix" carries over.
-
If it is the same issue, this is what pisses me off. You know of an issue, why the hell would you continue to use the same design in another vehicle?
-
Damn you are right about the F-150 http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-your-seat-backs-working-properly-304154/
-
Is your back warm because of this?
-
I'm surprised it was a deal breaker though.
-
Highly unlikely.
-
So the dealer sold you a 3rd party warranty? It wasn't even Ford's extended warranty? That dealer is obviously making a nice chunk off that 3rd party warranty and tried to get over on you. I wouldn't trust them.
-
I remember feeling cool too. Not as cool as the base. But there is definitely some cold air running out from the back. I think few have commented it would be nice if both had the same cooling effect
-
Interesting. I will see if I feel like it is heating up my back. You think maybe because your bottom is being cooled and the back isn't, that you feel like your back is actually heating up? Also, do you notice the heat when the cooler is not running?
