  1. How much WHP were you planning to add? What about the balance of the powertrain - motor top end, tranny, PTU? Just askin' as I was bouncing the idea of supercharging around. Thanks
  2. That is a good idea. I'm not near the 100,000 mile club yet but it would also be nice to know what lurks ahead for my Edge.
  3. Congrat's on the new wheels and welcome to the forums! Hope your AWD doesn't get a workout over the winter lol
  4. So here's a question. I know I'm missing something but how does this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/20-90W-Single-Row-LED-Light-Bar-Flood-Spot-Off-Road-Jeep-Truck-4x4-ATV-Boat-/181759276280?hash=item2a51b274f8:g:4foAAOSwrklVCuvR&vxp=mtr compare with the OP's piece which will run me almost C$800 before I spend a penny on wiring or switches etc.
  5. This is my next mod. Everything I've seen in this thread looks really tight! How is everyone wiring them in? My challenge is going to be to find a unit that will fit the grill and not bend me over too badly shipping it to me here in Canada because the 30% exchange premium kills me already LOL .....
  6. Welcome to the Edge and to the forum! I've had my Edge and been on this forum since May this year and I'm very much enjoying both
  7. Welcome! Glad to hear you're enjoying the new Edge
  8. Well...... this took longer than one day for me but I finished today lol. I wasn't happy with my rear end ... err ...my Edge's rear end to be more specific. Over the last few weeks here are the changes I made: 1. Put a new "Ford" emblem on the rear 2, Swapped out the tails for LED tails 3. Replaced the stock tips with a set of flat black powder coated tips 4. Sanded and repainted the aftermarket trailer hitch and wiring drop 5. Put a flat black hinged hitch cover on so when I need to use the hitch the cover just flips up so the receiver can go in easily 6. Debadged the rear ex for the "Ford" emblem - I tend to like "the clean look" on my vehicles I've attached the "before" and "after" pictures. I'm glad I got this finished today as it's getting a little chilly here to paint outside lol.
  9. Saw this today and thought it was rather interesting ............. http://torontosun.theautonet.com/2015/09/17/world-car-of-the-year-nominations-announced
  10. I've had the no key detected warning come up randomly when I've been in the drivers seat and the smart key is in my pocket. It's happened to me 2 times in the 4 months since I've owned my '13. I just kept pushing the start button both times and eventually it worked. I was thinking it was blip in the software and/or some type of radio frequency interference. I work with someone who has a Dodge with a smart key and if she has her smart key in her purse with her smartphone at the same time most times her smart key doesn't work. RF inteference - could it be a factor in your situation?
  11. As sad as it is to believe winter is only around the corner There was a story on the news here last night about people rushing to pre-order snowblowers already given the Farmer's Almanac is calling for even a longer and more harsh winter than last winter (is that even possible lol ???) In any case, I've decided to go with 17" steelies and snows with TPMS in each rim. I was always a Michelin X-Ice guy but a couple years back I bought a used set of Blizzak's with 1 winter on them already and was actually quite impressed with them. I'll hit my local Ford dealer and see what they can do for pricing on either X-Ices or Blizzaks. I do know that if I buy the rims, tires, and sensors from them they will re-calibrate my TPMS and speedo to compensate for the different tire size and pressure for "free" (included in the package price) and then do the same in the spring when I put my factory 20's back on. I'm going to try and wait until October to pull the trigger on them. I can't believe I'm actually talking about snow tires already
  12. Contrat's on the new Edge and getting the remote start up and running !! As they say in life, the completion of one chapter of life opens another so retiring the Focus is a nice way to transition into the Edge. You've found a place full of great folks and great info on how to get the most out of your Edge and customize it the way you'd like. Welcome
  13. First off - my heart goes out to all that are effected by this issue as it is truly brutal. In all honestly, aside from the cost factor, this is why I decided to go out and find a good used Edge versus buying a new 2015. In regards to robotics in the automotive industry, it's just like everything else - there are pros and cons to them. Just like any other piece of computer software, if the progamming of the robot is off it will perform the operation incorrectly considently over, and over, and over. This is why I don't understand why only some Edge's seem to be impacted and why Ford QA didn't catch this sooner in the build year. As a summer student years ago, I worked in the same Ford factory where the Edge's are made today only "back in the day" we made Ford Tempo's and Mercury Topaz's lol. The first major process automation in that facility was in the paint shop where robots took over the work from humans. Of couse, this was poorly received by the "human assets" remaining on the line but after the initial shakeout it worked out well. This process included "human asset' inspection of all automated paint work so defects seldom left the factory. Not sure how Ford's QA program evolved at that facility after I left but apparently there was a gap somewhere ..... no pun intended
  14. FWIW, I converted my '13 SEL from stock headlights to HID's and my Edge uses my headlights as DRL's. The jey was to add an extra moduel to the setup that ran me about $50. The local car audio buy where I live and has done installs in my past couple of vehicles did this work for me. Charged me $125 for the HID's and $50 for "the module". Have been running them 2 1/2 months with no problem at all and I'm very happy with them. My HID's are 35 watt as well. Hope this helps .......
  15. I used this one for the rear https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/174341491/custom-ford-emblem-black-with-chrome?ref=shop_home_active_11 Very happy with it and fast shipping. Best part if it is a metal cover that goes over the existing emblem so you don't have to remove the current one at all. I just cleaned it with some rubbing alcohol and used the already attached adhesive tape on the cover to put it on. Just an option in case you don't want to bother removing the rear emblem .....
  16. Same in most Canadian provinces so I have nothing hangin' . Often times, not only is it a "tag on", some - and I stress it is only some - law enforcement officers will also use this a reason to pull someone over and take things from there ..........................
  17. Great post and pictures - thanks for taking the time to post this as they were helpful. One point that might make things a little clearer. On my '13 SEL, the emblem is seated in chrome surround. The emblem is bolted to this surround with 2 10 mm plastic bolts. The chrome surround then clips onto the grill with the three clips that you show in your picture above. I found it easiest to use a paint stir stuck press down on the tabs and release the surround from thet grill. I then ubolted the emblem from the surround, and remounted it to the grill by reinserting the clips. It was a little ticky but the key is seat the bottom 2 clips and them use a screwdriver to gently push in and mount the top clip. The replacement emblem I'm using has adhesive backing so if it used screws I would have mounted it on the surround before remounting the surround. I then used some rubbing alcohol and a rage to clean off the surround mounting area and mounted the replacement emblem and I was good to go !!!
  18. Replaced the stock front Ford emblen with a black and chrome aftermarket piece. Relatively straight forward - the only thing I would have done differently is actually take the screws and bolts out for the top grill mounts as opposed to jamming my arm down between the hood latch and the plastic shroud and ripping the ship out of my arm lol. It's worth it though - looks good. Also installed a pair of switchbacks that don't work . Overall still a good day as I spent time outside (and not in the office) and the front end look better now !!!
  19. Great site indeed - thanks! One question - I have the rear view cam so when looking for a rear 7" emblem do I need one that specifies "Rear Camera"??? TIA
  20. I've purchased the HP24 switchbacks from my front turn signals from Diode Dynamics. Before ordering, I asked them how many "sets" of 2 resistors I needed for the install and they advised 1 "set" which is what i ordered. Upon receiving the bulbs and the resistors, I went to their website and viewed the installation video which showed them installing resistors on both the hot wire AND the ground. I emailed them and asked them about this and, in all honesty, their response was rather cryptic. I asked for clarification by asking very specific and directive questions and their response did not answer my question. As such, I'm going to toss it out here. For each signal, there are 3 wires - 1 ground and 2 hot (due to the bulbs being dual filament). Therefore, there are 6 wires at play (3 for each signal) yet I only have 2 resistors to install, In order to eliminate hyper flickering which 2 wires to I need to install the resistors on with the attached wire taps? Thanks in advance for the clarification !!!
  21. I decided to go SEL for a few reasons. I didn't want any of the "driver assistance" features such as blind spot indicator, auto wipers, or auto cruise control. I've had those options in other vehicles and seldom used them and have had problems with them in the past. I also didn't want the Sony "12 speaker" audio system as, IMHO, it is crappy as is the base stereo in the SEL. That said, I knew the audio system was going to have to undergo a huge gutting and rebuild and the Sony system was much less friendly to that than the audio system in the SEL. I also wanted white with chrome wheels and wanted the look to be only white and chrome and the SEL helped here as well. I was considering the Sport but with the money I saved by buying the SEL vs the Sport has now been poured back into my SEL in the form of mods to make my Edge EXACTLY the vehicle I want to drive .......
  22. Glad ya got them in and you're liking them King. Rock on and have a happy 4th !!!
  23. Glad to hear you've started your project! I know when I dropped the Kaption Audio drivers in there was a huge difference in sound quality anD balance. I was rattling my drivers door earlier this week while playing The Beastie Boys off of a USB stick lol. Hope you get the sound you're lookin for o nce you're done :-)
  24. Anyone have a link to and/or part number for the best replacement filter out there? My 13 seems to have decent airflow but I'm 99% it's going to be the original filer in there and I need to fix that. Thanks. in advance !!!
