  1. My 2013 SE had carbon fiber look on the dash. I did not like it so I used a burreled oak wrap to cover it and the window button areas of the doors. Much better. Burke
  2. When I move from the country back to the city. I had to many vehicles. SOOOO! I traded my Tarus and F150 for a new 2013 fully loaded Chevy Malibu XL. Nice car but not a Ford, Had 4900 miles on it when I swapped back to a 2013 Ford Edge with 52K on. Have had the Edge for about 9 months. No problems so far, better mileage on my V6 than the turbo I4 in the Chevy, and much much more comfortable than the Malibu. Burke
  3. Thank you WWWpert. She passed on September 9th. It's been rough, but with the help of a Men's Grief Workshop at the local hospital. And a couple of groups from my Car Club. I'm learning to deal with my new normal. It doesn't get better, you just learn to cope. Burke
  4. My Dearly Departed wife was only 4"11" tall. So I installed running boards to assist her getting in and out. They cut down the splash a bunch, but didn't help the back window much. Besides it gives the Edge that lowered look that I like. Burke
  5. Had a PT Cruiser that had sports shift. But it only shifted when you pushed the button. I assumed that my 2013 SE worked the same. Since I had never tried the sports mode in my Edge. This article got me to thinking. So I tried it out. I when I start out I put it in "S" it shifts just like "D". But it it's in "S" and I hit the + or - button it stays in that gear until I hit the button again. Looks to me that mine is working as it's supposed to. Birke
  6. I added Walnut to mine. It's a 2013 SE. I just didn't like the carbon Fiber look it had. Burke
  7. 2013 SE FWD, 55,000, 23 around town, 27 on the Highway at 65/70. Ever since I got it last May with 52,000 on it. Burke
  8. Use the SEARCH option. Topic has been covered several months ago. And as I recall, the foot thing does work. Burke
  9. Cold weather can do a number on that kind of injury. Mine was OK during the summer, just a little 1/4 inch pop. Then the first cold snap and it grew halfway across the windshield. Next night it grew even more. Within just a week the windshield was so shattered it had t be replaced. Burke
  10. Those beefy vehicles may be running a larger wheel, maybe 20's. A lot do. Burke
  11. Darn, I always thought FORD ment "First On Race Day" I own a Thunderbird, a 1957 Thunderbird. Speedo shows 7498 miles. And yes that is 107496 miles. Has it never had a problem? I doubt that. But is it still on the road after 58 years? You betcha. Have I ever had another make vehicle? At 83 years old you know I have, VW's, Chrysler's, Chevy's, Mazda's, Willis's. Audi, and a huge number of Fords. I even traded my 2013 Chevy Malibu with 4936 miles for a 2013 Edgd with 52952 miles because the Chevy was just NOT the quality I was use to in a Ford product. Do I expect to have some problems with my Edge? Sure but that's part of owning something with moving parts. The Edge is a very good looking vehicle that is comfortable, has respectable fuel mileage and good driving manors. WhAT ELSE COULD YOU Burke
  12. I was very disappointed with th remote start on my 2013 Chevy Malibu. Only thing it did was start the engine. Didn't turn on the A/C/heater, radio, or anything else. Once you were i n the car and inserted the key everythink came on. So what's the use just something elae to go wrong? Burke
  13. Had the same problem on my 57 T-Bird. I know that's old tech, but it's still the same problem.. Found that the bulb was not making good contact with the electrodes in the socket. Had to add a bit of height to the bulb contacts for a better fit. Problem solved. Burke
  14. Not found anything better than "Clearkote" Only thing I use on my 57 Bird. Clearkote.com

    What did your Doctor say??????????
  16. When you first tart it try moving the steering wheel back and forth. If the squealing changes tone then it's probably the power steering belt. Burke
  17. Moved to Texas back in 1969 from Oklahoma. First thing I noticed about the "Texas wave", was that it was not done with only one finger, like so many other places. It's just a much friendler atmospher down here. Of course I'm considered a naturalized Texan now. And D*** proud of it. Burke
  18. The clear bra's I've seen work beautifully. Some tint shops install them. Or contact a shop that does the advertising wraps. Burke
  19. I didn't wantr to do the whole grill black. So I just did the lower grill bar. As I recall five coats. That's been several months ago and it's stood up very well. Burke
  20. My 2013 Chevy Malibu had remote start. I did not like it. The only thing it did was start the engine. Did not start the heater or A/C or anything else. So what's the use? Maybe Ford's remote start works differently? Burke
  21. 39 Chevrolet 2 dr sedan $450. Mother and I found. When we got it home Dad gave us hell for spending that much money. It looked nice but the engine had to be overhauled a short time later. Drove it to College. Stuffed steel wool up the duel pipe tips while on campus because it was a little to loud for the locals. That was back in 1951. Have hade over 50 vehicles since. Current crop 2013 Edge SE and my 57 Thunderbird. Burke
  22. Welcome, you have come to the right place. Lots of good infor here or tip as to where you may find it. Again Welcome. Burke
  23. Welcome CailinS. This is a neat site, I visit it almost every day. Many good thoughts, recommendations and people. Lots of folks from way up North(Canada) I've noticed. So questions about snow tires and the like don't excite me. But when I was having tire noise, the comments were very helpful. So welcome fellow Texan and if your in the Greenville area. Please do wave and I'll do the same, It's "Just a Texas Thing". Burke
  24. I receintly replaced the tires on my 57 T-Bird with Coker Classics which I got from Amazon. They were $400 cheaper at Amazon. BUT, they all proved to be "out-of-round". I wanted Amazon to replace them but they only had 2 in inventory. After 2 1/2 months they still only have 2 in inventory. So I got Diamondbacks(toyo as smooth as glass) and sent the Coker's back for a refund. Now I'm holding mt breath on the refund. Resolving this hassle may have coast much more than the $400 in saved. Just be aware. Burke
