  1. Welcome from Greenville, Texas y'all. Burke
  2. Anybody remember "Pink Air"? Fina used to advertise it for you tires. Don't recall the benefits. Burke
  3. It's running staggered tires with that rake look that increases your fuel mileage by as much as 10%. Your always running down hill. Burke
  4. Did mine almost 2 years ago. Still looks good, and I see no flaking or rock chips. Just a few little dents in the plasti-dip. As I recall the taping off took the most time. I put on about five coats. Burke
  5. Way back in the 70's( if your old enough to remember) I had a Ford Taunus(small German Ford). It was fashionable to name you car back then. I had the OEM horn, a set of air horns(so long they were mounted one under each front fender), and an old Chevrolet town & country horn on it. On the rear fender was it's name "Horny Toad". Burke
  6. My wife was only 4' 11" tall and had trouble getting in & out. I purchased running boards off Ebay. Burke Well I have pictures, but they are all to big to post, Will have to wait for my IT person to get up before I can reduce them.
  7. My wiring harness had a four pin connector and the trailer had a 7 pin connector. So I purchased a 7 pin and made my own adapter. First I ran a separate wire for the trailer brakes from the controller. Then using a four pin, I connected the corresponding wires from the four pin to the 7 pin connector. The extra wire for the trailer brakes was connected and the job was complete. The extra pins in the 7 pin connector are not used. Plug the four pin end into the wiring harness and the 7 pin into the 7 pin connector on the trailer. Wahlaa, Works like a champ, and I can tow most any connector combo. Burke
  8. I did a 1300 mile trip last October. Of course it was all flat country, LA & MS. 2013 3.5 V6 towing a 1933 Ford Victoria on an aluminum trailer. Probably pushing the suggested weight limit just a little. Mileage was 14+ MPG. Use "S" drive going down and allowed the tranny to shift itself. Which it did a lot of. On the way home I used "D". When the speed got down to 45/50mph I shifted to "S" until I got back up to 65/70mph. I had no problems with heating, braking, or anything else. Don't know about the 2.0 Ecoboost. Burke
  9. I drilled a hole in the fire wall. It worked for me. Burke
  10. I ordered my Curt hitch on-line. And as I recall it cost about $169. It set in the garage for about a year before I got around to installing it. Was no big deal with the help of my floor jack. I've done several of these hitches on other cars I've had. Over my 84 years I've done a whale of a lot of towing. Biggest problem with the installation was getting the wires for the brake controller through the fire wall. I didn't install the car plug, I just let it hang out the tailgate to plug into the trailer plug. Otherwise it resides in the spare tire well. Best of luck with your project, and Happy Towing. Burke
  11. It would be much easier with the factory package and as akirby said you get extra stuff with the factory package. I have the Class III not the Class II. I built a 7 pin connector with a 4 pin connector 0n the other end. I ran an extra wire for the electric brakes. That way I can use whatever connector the trailer has.. My aluminum car trailer has the 7 pin, my Coca Cola box trailer has the 4 pin. I may have been pushing the recommended weight limit just a little. But you never know until you try. As I said before, I've not had any problems with the Edge. With the trailer braking system the Edge had no problem stopping the load. It shifts normally to this day. I do recommend shifting from "D" to "S" when climbing hills if you want to maintain speed. I did not heat up. It was a Beautiful trip. Next year I will not tow. Vicky was sold and my 34 Panel truck weigh much more than the Vicky. Cruisin-the-Coast had just under 8000 registered participants this year. Burke
  12. Just some positive input. 60,000+ miles, 2013 Edge SE, Worst problem and only problem, dead battery @ 54,000. Love my Edge. Burke
  13. There is more info on towing if you will just use the "search function". But I'll repeat myself. I installed a Curt class III on my 2013 3.5 FWD 6 speed Edge. Towed my 33 Ford Victoria to Biloxi MS. from Greenville TX. Distance of almost 3000 miles round trip, with both city and highway speeds. My mileage was a little over 14 mph while towing. Unloaded the Vicky and took my Daughter to Rowlette TX, round trip about 60 miles when we got back nome Average mileage jumped back up to 25 mpg. On the way down to Biloxi I used "S" and let the tranny do the shifting, and there was a lot of it. On the way back I manually down shifted from "D" to "S" when necessary and it was much smoother. Average mileage remained the same 14 mpg. Had no problem keeping up with traffic and sometimes even exceeded the speed limit. There was no indication heating or any other problems. Burke
  14. I bought a "last years model" Prodigy off Ebay for $38.00. Use a Curt hitch and harness. Works beautifully, electronic controller is the only way to go set it once and forget it. Burke
  15. My 2013 is due it's 60k. Got a card in the mail from my Dealer with a special price of $299.95. Looked pretty much like a regular service & oil change. That usually runs about $50.00. Burke P.S. Sold the 33 Ford Victoria, have a 34 Ford Panel Truck now. Had a 35 Ford Panel Truck that I sold back in 2011. Missed it ever since. So when I saw the 34, I just had to have it. You know it's not stock. I'm a Street Rodder to the core. LT-1, 700R4, etc, etc, etc. Pictures to follow soon.
  16. Give it a test your self. Use colored duct tape. If you don't like it, remove it, no harm done. In the past I've done that even used black electrical tape to "nose & deck" my black 1955 Ford coupe. Just use your imagination. Burke
  17. Welcome Y'all. Lots of very helpful stuff here. Glad you could join us. Burke
  18. I'm due a 60K checkup on my 2013 Edge. Have a promotional service reminder with a price fo $299.95 for the service. Is that a good price? I live in Greenville, TX. Burke
  19. I've got a Curt. It is rather visible, but it's easy to install and works beautifully. I used their harness as well. It to was easy to install. Just got back from Cruisin-the-Coast in Biloxi, MS. Just over 1100 miles. Towed my 33 Ford Vicki on an aluminum trailer with NO PROBLEMS. I use a Prodigy controller. Burke

    Towing

Just got back from Cruisin-the-Coast in Biloxi, MS. 2013 SE 3.5 V8 auto FWD, 56.5K miles. 1370# aluminum trailer, estimate 2900# fiberglass 33 Vicki. 1135 miles round trip. Overall fuel mileage 14.5. No tow package and no over heating, as a mater of fact NO PROBLEMS what so ever. Average speed going down with cruise set 65. But there was a whole lot of shifting in either D or S. On the way home with the cruise OFF, shifting was cut in half speed was 70/75 and some times as much as 85. Fuel mileage appeared to be about the same. Love the prodigy brake controller, hardly knew the trailer was there. After unloading car and trailer, I took my Daughter home(another 100 miles). Average mileage now showed 27.5 mpg. running at 70 mph. Now ask me how I like my EDGE, Love it, love it, love it. Burke
  21. That's just that Southern Hospitality we all try to show down here in Texas. But it does seem to have slowed down some as Society has sped up. I'm a "move in" myself of 46 years ago(longer than in my home state) when the pace was so much slower, Miss those days. Burke
  22. Had the same message on my 2013 Edge. Read some where that if you turn everything off and don't touch it for 8 hours the battery system will reset itself. First I charged the battery, then let it sit the suggested time. It reset and I don't have the message now. But I do plan to replace the batter since it's 3 years old and winter is not that far away. Burke
  23. Went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel with a group of friends from the Car Club. Came home and played on the computer for a couple hours. Took a nap, to hot to do much else. Did have my toddy later on. Burke
  24. 39 Chevy 2 dr. Mom and I went out and bought it. As I recall $450. When we brought it home Dad looked it over and told us what a piece of crap it was. Proved he was right. Burke
