What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
handfiler replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I installed my new tires yesterday. The factory Dunlop CrossContact LX Sport were replaced with Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II tires. Immediate impressions are that they are noticeably quieter on older road surfaces and expansion joints. Turn-in seems to be more immediate but to early to say until I scrub them in some more. This car doesn't see winter weather but the wheel hubs were seriously rusted. To avoid issues down the road I cleaned off the rust with a Dremel tool and wire wheel attachment. That was followed up with a light coating of anti-seize compound to the wheel mounting face and the exposed axle threads (not on the wheel studs). -
How often do you put on your emergency/parking brake?
handfiler replied to flymore's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Every time I park the vehicle...........unless I forget to. I was taught long ago to do this to take the stress off of the parking pawl when the vehicle is parked on an incline. And by doing so you also prevent the cables from seizing from lack of use. I shift my Mustang with manual transmission into neutral and apply the parking brake every time I park it........without fail. -
As a longtime user of the Torque Pro app I stumbled across this companion app for Torque Pro that works in conjunction with Android Auto. It lets you project up to 6 gauges in a variety of colors and configurations to your navigation screen. DPI is also adjustable. I settled on Coolant, Boost and IA2 in white to match the gauges in the cluster. The guy that invented the AAWireless dongle is also the creator of this nifty app. OBD2AA

I ordered up a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II - 245/50R20 tires on Tuesday to replace the Continental CrossContact LX Sport that came with the car. Someone less discriminating (rational) will be getting a deal on the Conti's at 3,700 km of use. No knock on Continental tires in general as I have a set of TrueContact Tour on my Malibu and they are a very good tire. The CrossContact LX Sport however are shite! Rough ride and noisy. Handling isn't great either. -
2020 Edge Android Auto Wireless?
handfiler replied to smjayman's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I don't know if that was in response to me or not but I already mentioned I'm running AAWireless with great results. I was commenting to Sage that the link he provided was to a Car play dongle, not an AA dongle. Or I could just be totally off base. ? -

Maybe I missed it but I'm not seeing any mention of Android Auto on their website. -

2020 Edge Android Auto Wireless?
handfiler replied to smjayman's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I've been running AA wireless for about 4 months now with Sync 3 thanks to this device: AAWireless I ordered my perk in February and received it in May. He has been struggling to get orders out due to the chip shortages but he's a stand up dude and will refund you immediately if you don't have the patience to wait. I highly recommend it as it works flawlessly. -
3.5mm audio jack input to USB

It's been a while since I've dealt with iTunes so I cant give you the specifics on how to get your files from there to your PC but it's doable as I was able to do it. The first step is to consolidate your music files on your PC. I have mine organized with sub folders of artists/albums/artwork all in a main folder. You then associate the main folder with Media Monkey. The software will take some time to become familiar with but it's worth the effort as it will make life easier in the long run. The thing to do is to create playlists of your favourites. Then you can transfer the playlists directly to your thumb drive. Once plugged in Sync will then index everything for you and you will then have all of your music available to you with a few gestures on the screen or better yet by voice command. Once I went Android I re-ripped all of my CD's to FLAC format and dumped the apple music data. A lot of audiophiles have converted their LP collections to digital and made them available online in FLAC format. I included a couple of images of the PC and phone app interfaces. The phone app is Android Auto compatible (Carplay too I would imagine). I use the phone to access my music library and stream music to the home and garage systems. -
3.5mm audio jack input to USB

I think there might be USB compatibility issues with older apple devices. Typically the device should have no issues with passing data via the data cable but we're talking apple here. -
3.5mm audio jack input to USB

I use this to manage my music library: Media Monkey A bit of a learning curve involved but it's worth the effort. They have versions for both iPhone and Android formats. Software for the PC, app for the phone. I discovered it years ago when I made the switch from iPhone to Android. It facilitates transferring your library and playlists to USB a breeze. The pro version has a built in CD ripping tool along with several other useful tools. I would skip the dongle A/D converters. The end results will be disappointing. -

I enjoy analog audio, still own a turntable and have a fairly decent album collection. Having said that I cant think of a single analog device that I would want to connect to Sync. Add me to the list of the curious. -

I have the Ronin drain valve and in it works very well. The amount of oil that is left in the sump is insignificant. I add the same amount of oil as I did before I installed the Ronin Drain Valve and the level on the dipstick is the same. I do use ramps for doing oil changes so not too concerned about the 1/4 cup of oil left in the sump. The thread profile on this drain valve is the same as the plastic drain plug. In theory the fact that you don't remove it for oil changes should make the plastic oil pan last even longer. FWIW I'd put more faith in the Ronin valve not failing than I would in the Dorman device. It looks rather flimsy to me and doesn't have a protective cap to protect the inner mechanism. If that thing fails it will do so in spectacular fashion.

Some do it. I bought lowering specific bump stops.

It's done with all 4 tires on solid Terra Firma. My back yard method is to lift the car up and lower it on cribbing placed under all 4 tires to gain access to the suspension components. That way the suspension is still under compression. I hope this helps. I could provide more info but I'm into my second Lech pilsner.....
