  1. You can pretty easily do a search on a place like fordparts.com and see that there are different part numbers for shocks on a Sport.
  2. Ford's tire testing process is pretty extensive and the contracts are pretty long-term. So you can go down to your dealer and look at any 2016 Edge and be sure that yours will come with the same tires that you see on every other one with the same size.
  3. If you can just read the code, the car will tell you exactly what the problem is.
  4. And how do you think those 10 miles were driven? Once you've seen how the cars are driven around the factory, you don't worry about the "break-in" anymore.
  5. There is no way to do what you're looking for, Ford has figured there is too much risk of inadvertent locking and customer confusion with that feature, so they don't offer it. You can however lock the car by touching the little "grate" pattern on the top of the door handle, or by pushing the bottom two buttons on the keypad at the same time.
  6. Are you running premium fuel? The only way a tune is really going to make a noticeable difference in WOT performance is if it more aggressively takes advantage of premium fuel. On regular fuel the factory tune is already pretty well optimized.
  7. The stability system is designed to account for that, it doesn't actually know how much grip can be produced by each tire, it just reacts to what's actually happening. But it is true that mixing tires is never a good idea, it can ruin the steering and handling feel of the vehicle and make it more difficult to control in an emergency. To lpgao - if you're going to put two tires in storage, I'd put the two Pirelli's in storage (or sell them) and put all 4 of the same tires on the vehicle. Also sounds like you have not been rotating them, so make sure you do that every 10K km or so. Keep in mind that even in storage, tires do age. If you keep those things in your basement for 5 years they will not be as good as they are now.
  8. Do your auto-up windows work? Sometimes they lose their memory of their position so they have to be "reset" by fully closing them, then pulling up on the switch and holding for a couple seconds. Global close works great on all 4 windows of my 2014 Fusion and 2010 MKT.
  9. Hmm, I just ordered 2 5qt jugs from Amazon for $22 each. Would be awesome to get $12 back!
  10. True, but just because the size on the sidewall is the same, doesn't mean the actual size is the same. Tire size is governed by industry standards but those standards are pretty loose. So loose in fact, that you can have the exact same tire made with two different sizes printed on the side (like say 235/65 and 245/60) and still legally sell it. I once worked on a series of tires where one was labelled a 215 but was actually 221, another was labelled 225 but was actually a 223 and a third was also labelled 225 but was actually a 227. All of them were OEM tires made by the same company.
  11. Not quite sure how a Grand Cherokee works, but this is not true on the Edge. In the Edge and all of Ford's FWD based AWD systems, the rear axle is powered through the clutches of the RDU. The computer cycles the clutches on and off to modulate the power to the rear axle, so having different diameter tires on the rear would not cause any extra wear on the system, it would just slightly change the amount of torque transfer to the rear from what the computer intended. Now if you have different tires on the left vs the right, that would make a difference, as it would cause the pinion in the differential to spin a bit more.

    engine cover

The foam cover is designed to absorb engine noise. The plastic one on the older Lincolns was just for appearance.

You need to make sure you get one from an iVCT engine, not a TiVCT engine. So one from a 07-10 MKX would work, but one from a 11 Edge would not. Should also be able to look for one from a 07-10 MKZ, 09-12 MKS of MKT. Might even try a Mazda 6 or CX-9, but I don't think any of the Ford iVCT models ever came with a cover.
  14. Uh, the purpose of a spark plug is to light gas on fire. Your engine doesn't run specifically because the spark plugs are unable to light the gas on fire
  15. The extended warranty is just for the APIM, not the screen. But you could find a used replacement screen on ebay or most auto recyclers, the screen from any Ford or Lincoln would work.
  16. Bottom line is $38K is really not that expensive a car any more, it's really only just a bit above average. You can thank the ever increasing regulations for driving the price up.
  17. The panel is all one piece and is built around a big circuit board. If you get a puncture in your tire, you wouldn't expect the dealer to just replace the part of the tire that has the hole, would you? If the bottom corner of your smart phone stopped working, you wouldn't expect that you could just replace the bottom corner of the screen right? Same thing with the panel on the Edge. If you don't use it that much and can still make it work from the touchscreen, why bother fixing it at all?
  18. As akirby implied, this is 100% false. The transmission would never "learn" how you use Sport mode, so obviously it was the reset/reflash that did the trick. So no need to worry about "use it or lose it" when it comes to the Sport mode.
  19. They are referring to the turbo 3.5 used in the Explorer, Taurus SHO and F150.
  20. The engine in my first car (93 Probe GT with the Mazda 2.5) blew up at just over 100,000 miles. The best I can tell is that one of the connecting rods fatigued and broke, which then took out the rest of the "bottom end". Could be the same thing in your case, metallurgy these days is good, but it's never going to be 100%.
  21. I did wash my car two weeks ago and since then my MPG has actually gone up quite a bit. Oh BTW, I washed my car because the bad weather had passed and it was going to be warmer for a couple weeks. Which of those two do you think was responsible for my MPG change?
  22. If you could really gain 3mpg by just using a different filter, don't you think it would come from the factory that way? I mean Ford spends around $2000 extra on every F150 to make it out of aluminum and that gained about 2mpg. If you really believe your data then it would be easy to just throw the original filter back and and confirm that the mpg drops back to 18.
  23. There is no difference in calibration between Canadian and US vehicles, so your 2013 SEL will be exactly like any other.
  24. No, because this will not be a configuration that will be readily accessible in the standard menus. They will have to have a tech that knows how to get into the modules and reprogram them - essentially hack them. Usually you need a password to access the module and then you need to know the hexidecimal code for the particular configuration you want changed. Those things are not published or readily available to the dealer.
  25. Interesting that the shop manual only mentions that it's the rear door handles that the SE doesn't have. All of the antennas and switches are in the door handle, so if you really do have the intelligent access door handle, then it could be possible to simply activate it by reconfiguring the BCM and maybe the DDM. But just because the wiring goes to the door handle doesn't mean the handle itself has the internal antenna and switches. Does the handle have the little hash marks on top towards the back? If so, then there might be a chance, if not, then it won't have the switches so you'll be out of luck.
