    This is from Ford: It applies to the 2022-2024 ST There are two different models of the PTU. The low torque PTU is paired with the 8F35, 8F40, and MMT6 transmissions. The high torque PTU is paired with the 8F57 transmission. The low torque and high torque PTUs are similar in design and operation. The ST has the 8F57 transmission

    Thank you chr8990 for the pdf on the ptu/rdu. I believe the ST's use a high torque ptu ? Other than a cooler there must be some stronger internal components.

    garycrist. do you have a recommendation on what fluids to use in the PTU and RDU? I know they each use a different fluid and there are some good choices including the OEM. I have heard about Redline shockproof for the PTU and not sure about the RDU. Thanks for any feedback.

    From what I know is you definitely want the PTU and RDU fluid changed. I would make sure that the dealership actually knows what you are trying to get serviced. Seems like some of them are in the dark on the PTU fluid change as it is not listed as a routine service. I think the transmission could be at a later time interval but not sure. I too would like more info on this as I will be taking mine to the dealer when the time comes for me.

    I can't speak for all models, but my 2024 Edge ST did come with the for/aft up/down headrests. The driver seat is still 10 way but the passenger is now 6 way adjustable. Used to be 10 way on my 2021

    Well an update- I verified the noise we are hearing is coming from that side of the vehicle where the rear cargo vent is. I verified that it is 100% speed related and most likely wind too. I don't think it is related to the seatbelt, but possible the fuel fill/door/compartment. It doesn't seem to be there when everything is cold. I also seems to be getting worse- as in happening at lower speeds. I am tempted to pull that drivers side rear cargo area trim panel off and have my wife drive while I sit back there again. I am not sure exactly how that trim panel comes? Looks pretty basic. As for my other little rattle- seems to be coming from the cargo hatch, down by the automatic locking mechanism. I will have to do more research.

    Never go aftermarket. Go OEM and you won't have issues. I know this from experience.

    Ok I have a 2024 Edge ST. For some reason I could not find it in the digital owner's manual in the vehicle, but I will check again. Sure miss the 'old school' printed manual ! Thanks for the help

    OK. I am going to use Amsoil for both. But are they different? Which one do I use in the RDU? PTU? Thanks so much guys for all your help.

    Just curious to know what fluid is used in the RDU and is there a better aftermarket alternative. I plan on doing mine soon. Also the same question for the PTU. I think they are different fluids???

    Thanks for the clarification. Based on that, my 2024 Edge does have hill start assist. It does not have auto hold. I am positive that my 2021 also had the same. It seems like there is some confusion regarding auto hold which is a physical button and not an option on the Edge?

    I can confirm that my 2024 Edge ST has auto hold. I can't remember how to turn it on and off, but it does exist. It also was active on my 2021 Edge.

    Hard to tell if it's the same as the Reddit post. But very similar for sure. The sound you recorded, and the location of the noise are the same though. Something behind that vent for sure.

    I seem to think the noise could be coming from anywhere in that area, we are just hearing it through the vent. I also seem to remember that noise wasn't there a couple thousand miles ago. When I first noticed it, I would be above 70-75 mph, but over time it seems to have gotten noticeable at lower speeds. I can almost say without a doubt that you and I are having the same issue. I will keep you posted if I get any information as well. Please keep me posted, I am going try and tackle the rattle in my cargo door panel. It has become constant and very irritating, Jim

    Wow! I listened to your recording and I too have the same thing happening. VERY similar sound! Interesting! I have a 2024 Edge ST with 6400 miles. At speeds above 60 MPH I hear a rattle/squeaking sound coming from the vent area highlighted. I sat back there while my girlfriend drove and it is behind that vent. WOW, same exact area. It seems to be speed related, not bumps in the road. Below 60 it seems to go away no matter how rough the road is. Almost like it is wind related. I was going to pop the vent out and see what I could find. Unless there is a TST or Service Bulletin, the dealers are pretty much worthless with this kind of thing. I also have a rattle in the right rear corner of the hatch back trim panel (right where the handle is that you would grab to close the rear door). It is present when you hit the slightest bump and is more noticeable once the car and interior are warm. I tried pushing on the panel while driving but it is inside the rear hatch door?????

    It's nice that they will let you order the front set or rear instead of the whole set only. My back seats hardly ever get sat in so the Ford OEM mats will probably last the life of the car. But the fronts will need to be replaced eventually. Those look a lot nicer that the Weathertech too! Thanks for the pics.

    I did a bit of research, and the Ford Premium Care Plan is by far the best, as it covers almost everything. And they will use OEM. 8 years is 5 years past the standard so it really made sense for me to do it. With all the technology and gadgets, something will have issues.

    When I bought my 2024 Edge ST, they offered me the Ford Premium Care ESP for $1,745. It was for 8 years or 60K, whichever comes first. Since I only drive 5-6K a year, it was a no brainer. I believe the Premium Care plan pretty much covers everything. I hope! I cannot believe with all the new technology (crap) on these cars today, that they will go for too many years without something failing. And with my luck, something major will happen right after the warranty expires! šŸ˜£

    Not to sidetrack this thread, but after 40 years plus as an outboard mechanic I can honestly say without a doubt that OEM is the best option. When you go aftermarket, you are rolling dice. Of course this does not apply to everything, but I cannot tell you how much crap is out there. Especially when it comes to electrical components. I don't mean to bash aftermarket, but you truly get what you pay for.

    I bought my hood insulator blanket directly from ford. I didn't pursue the engine cover, but I agree it would be a nice way to hide all the wiring and hoses that are exposed. The hood insulator came with all the retaining clips and was very easy to install. I think it was about 140 bucks. Not sure why Ford chose to stop using it, other than saving a few bucks. It looks funny without it for sure.

    I drove a 2019 ST at the SUV performance school and Utah and could see why they eliminated the second gear. When the vehicle shifted from second to third the RPMs barely changed at all. Almost like there was no need for ONE of the two gears (2nd or 3rd). The ratios were way too close. Now that I have a 2024 ST with the 7 speed the RPM change is much more noticeable because essentially it is going from first to third (eliminating the 2nd). I am really surprised they didn't design it that way from the beginning.

    I have a 2024 ST and here are few things I can say. In 21 they went to the bigger touchscreen (sync 4) which is kind of game changer. The navigation screen is awesome! I got the 401A package which gave me the sunroof and heated seats/steering wheel. I have gotten spoiled the heated steering wheel for sure. I did get the performance brake and tire package which is great because you get the bigger calipers and rotors. The only issue is they come (only) with summer tires which work good for where I live, but not good in your climate. They should offer that package with a few different tire options, but they don't. Also, in 21 they went to a 7-speed transmission (via programming) and helps with the performance. I drove both and the 7 speed is an improvement. Hope some of this helps.
