flyers27
I recently recieved the sync update from the dealer and noticed a problem with the ambient lighting. I turn the ambient lighting to off and everything will be ok. After a couple of times of going in and out of the car (starting and parking it), the ambient lighting will turn back on to the baby blue color and full brightness. Anyone have this problem or know what i can do besides bring it back to the dealer? This is really annoying because i dont want the ambient lighting on at all and it just comes back on... thanks
egar
On my 2012 Limited the blue lighting always comes on when entering the car and after turning off the ignition. Sometimes I run the red ambient lighting at its lowest setting. But whenever you enter or exit the vehicle the blue lighting comes on at its brightest setting. I view it as courtesy lighting -- it compliments the whole lighting package (puddle lights, dome lighting, etc) when entering or exiting. Lowery89
I have a 2013 sport...This is how mine came, so don't worry about it being a bad problem... Look at your speedometer when you open the door.. It lights up to accent the cars interior, the same color and way your ambient lighting does. I have my lighting set to red while i drive and it will go to that blue only on entry and exit. If you don't want the lighting that bad I'm sure there is a fuse you can pull and it will solve the problem
flyers27
mine comes on when i open the doors as a courtesy light like yours, but it stays on while im driving. I dont want it on while im driving... Before the update if i had the ambient lighting set to off, it would come on when the doors opened and shut off when all the other interior lights dimmed out. Now it just stays on.

egar
Yeah, that's definitely different than mine. When I turn ambient lighting off, it stays off. When I set it on at a certain color and brightness level, it stays that way.
flyers27
do i have to bring this back to the dealer or is there a "save settings somewhere i am missing. Im pretty tired of bringing this to the dealer between the sync, the TSB for the ticking at cold startup, and the TSB for the slipping transmission... OhCookie
I know this is an old thread, but the problem I have with the ambient lighting is that it keeps changing back to the default color of blue even after I have reset it to another color like purple. Is there a "Save" setting somewhere? I'm not going to waste time with the dealer on something this trivial, but it is annoying.
AWDnot2
Half of the people replying just aren't getting the OP's point. 1.) lighting is turned completely off. 2.) vehicle is shut down. 3.) vehicle is turned back on. 4.) ambient lighting is on and at full bright setting. This is not normal and very annoying, not to mention, distracting. The only temporary workaround I have found is to change it to the red color (least distracting) setting, at the lowest light output level. When restarted it will remain on the low setting. This thing has been to the dealer more times than all of my previous cars, combined! This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. This the last ford product I ever buy. thunter11
So has anybody been able to find a fix for this problem. I have a 2012 Edge and ever since I had the latest update done on the sync system, the ambiant lights seem to turn on by themselves even after I go through the settings and turn it off. I know there are lights that come on when you open the door but when the door is shut they should stay off but if my lights turn on all the ambiant lights turn on too. I have taken it to the dealer and they seem stumped. They say that they have not heard of this problem and that updating the sync shouldn't have caused this problem but that is the only thing that has been done that would make any sense. If anyone has come across a solution, I would love to hear it so I could bring it up to the dealer so maybe they can fix this problem. Hi thunter11, Shoot your full name, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership over via PM. I'll check to see what other options we might have available. lowesdell
2011 Edge, ever since I updated to the latest version of MFT, ambient lighting will stay whatever color I choose for a few days/week, then all of a sudden it is off and at the default color. I set it back to the color I want and it defaults again. Also, my radio/satellite presets are back to being blank ( 3 or 4 of the 6 per screen) at random times, which just started in the last few weeks, although I have had latest version for a while. I had this problem A LOT on earlier versions but it had seemed to have been resolved on version before current. It's always something.
omar302
A suggestion to anyone facing this problem, try a master reset and/or a battery cable disconnect for 10-15 minutes to reset all the electronics.

Hi Oldannieb & lowesdell, I agree with omar's suggestion as the first approach. Here are the instructions on how to perform a master reset, just in case they are needed: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch In the event the master reset does not resolve the ambient lighting issue, your dealership would need to take a closer look at that behavior. Pertaining to the satellite radio presets, it's possible this is stemming from the same root cause but I can't say for sure. We'll have to revisit that issue after the service garage has had a chance to look at it. Antonio
SoMdLimited
Same issue here, but only with the ambient lighting. Just living with it - really not that big a deal.
drpepper
the last update introduced a "bug" or as Ford will say - normal operating procedure- where the ambient light resets back to grey after a reboot. This can be seen on a forced reboot with the app, pull fuse/battery or seem to happen on its own.. Which is really the when the system is-by designed- to reboot on its on after so many hours of operation - most times you JUST do not see it since happens after shut off vehicle. May catch a glimpse if shut off to gas up- & then it just happens to be at that magical hour- & boom.. Also notice the "alerts" in Sirius- also magically turn to a default off as well...? Just need to reboot & then cycle car off & on to get the greyed out option to reappear....
predapio
I was pissed as hell that the wife's '13 SEL didn't have the ambient lighting....now I'm kinda glad. I hate distracting lights while I'm driving, so I feel for all of you. Sucks.

drpepper
Thanks but question..."settings restore EA5T-14D546-AMA"....does this mean the solution was there all the time? Just restore to a previous code? Or is this more instructions to restore & a new code/script is being used in the restore process? Also- will this really be necessary IF a new version of MFT/MLT is due soon? Would this "fix" be incorporated into the new software? After all- we have been waiting 13 months for this "fix" to the 8/13 MFT 3.6 release that had this bug... & now near end of 9/14 Oh Waldo-....any suggestions????? want to avoid going to dealer to do this & then with in a "short" period of time it self corrects with a new software version... I was just at dealer on Frid for a sunroof warranty issue "Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage." also...would this be part of the EXTENED MFT warranty of that 5 years no millage limit due to all the issues? Thanks Edited September 22, 2014 by drpepper
drpepper
The last update (MFT/MLT 3.6) introduced a "bug" - where the ambient light resets back to grey ( even though a color is still selected) after a reboot and the Phone ringers - cell phone & cell text- go back to a phone default vs text to speech or ringer 1,2,3.... Also notice the "alerts" in Sirius- also magically turn to a default OFF as well.... This can be seen when sync does a reboot in background after 20 hours. Also, on a forced reboot with the app, pull fuse, or remove battery. OK my car is going in for Service for a failed backup camera- loosing the color marks & hash lines see my other thread... I would like the dealer to address the issue I describe above. The SERVICE MANAGER asked for ASSISTANCE on finding the TSB that might addresses this. Anyone? The TSB mentioned above is similar but not Exactly the condition- right? Rebecca- What can you provide to assist my service manager so he can fix the "Issue" after a system reboot that happens in background (ambient light change to grey, phone ringers reset , sirius alerts turen off? ALSO my concern is to NOT do a master reset since it will blow away my Nav stored Favs. Can this be taken into account? Thanks .
