  1. Ford has been 100 lb/ft for a long time - not sure if that changed recently.
  2. I have the hidden hitch on a 2016 MKX and it doesn't interfere with the liftgate sensor at all.
  3. I'm assembling a folding 4' x 8' utility trailer to pull behind my MKX. Took me 4 days to assemble it and get the plywood floor installed and covered with roll-on bedliner. Now I just have to build the sides which should be easy by comparison. It's a lot bigger and heavier than I imagined but it should work well and it folds up like a ping-pong table when not in use. $500 from Northern Tool including shipping.
  4. You can get an aftermarket hitch for $180 online. $600 sounds way high for install. Took me a couple of hours and just hand tools. Wiring would be another hour or so. If you don't want to do it yourself, find a uhaul or other business that will install an aftermarket hitch for you. Should be a lot cheaper. My preference is the hidden hitch - the bar is completely hidden and it doesn't interfere with the liftgate sensor. I can post pictures if you want to see it. I'm not a towing expert but if your trailer is close to 2000 lbs. I think it would be ok for your use cases without additional upgrades. For more frequent towing or heavier loads I think you would at least need to add a tranny cooler.
  5. Possible, but I'm not sure if that applies to electronic locks nowadays.
  6. And somebody, somewhere was either carjacked or opened the rear door while the vehicle was moving prompting a lawsuit or attempted lawsuit because the doors didn't automatically lock. Because, you know, people aren't responsible enough to hit the stupid lock button on their own if they're concerned about safety.
  7. There is an easy way to test for dragging brakes. Get a cheap IR temp gun and after driving for several minutes without using a lot of brakes, stop and check the temp of the brake rotors. They should be close to the same. If the brakes are dragging those rotors will be much much hotter. The shaking under braking is a rotor out of true and would require turning or replacing the rotor and new pads. Probably not covered by warranty.
  8. Yep. I wonder if you have to sign a waiver before they disable it? I hate lawyers and plaintiffs that bring stupid lawsuits and the stupid juries that side with them.
  9. According to the OM, you can only set the auto-un-lock in the menu. Autolock must be turned off or on by the dealer. Very strange.
  10. I would try working it back and forth a few times to see of it loosens up before taking it to the dealer.
  11. Your dealer would have to ask for an AWA and they would probably have to chip in. It won't hurt to ask, but the fact that it's a known problem really doesn't factor into the warranty decision.
  12. There are adapters that allow you to keep your steering wheel controls with aftermarket radios. Can't remember the name though. Do a forum search - there have been several topics.
  13. That may in fact be the plan - fix the 2017s and then make the parts available to 2015/16s. New sales will always be the priority unfortunately.
  14. Well obviously Ford can't 3d print the parts - they'd have to spec the parts, test them and line up suppliers to manufacture them and that takes time unfortunately. At first I thought it was just an installation problem with parts coming loose on the assembly line but that no longer seems to be the case. I think Ford will fix it but it may take several more months. We get a little cool air from the seatback. Fortunately the A/C works so well it's not a major issue right now (for us).
  15. Did you read the owner's manual? It clearly explains how these features work. Your dealer is completely wrong. IA doesn't automatically lock or unlock when in/out of range. You must touch the door handle with the fob in range. Inside of handle unlocks (just grab the handle to open it). To lock it you touch the top of the handle where the ridges are. Autolock just locks the doors when the vehicle starts moving.
  16. The exchange doesn't use suction - it uses the transmission pump so it's no different than normal driving. Obviously you do it with the engine running.
  17. This isn't the first thing Ford mis-engineered the last 5 years. Focus/Fiesta trannys come to mind. They allowed suppliers to mess up gas tanks on Edges and MyFordTouch. I think they're trying to do too much too fast without enough experienced engineers.
  18. Ford had working cooled seats as far back as 2003. They changed the design for the 2015 model year and apparently it didn't work. They went back and tried to fix them Which doesn't seem to work. They probably have to do a complete redesign which will take time. They're not going to ignore something this big.
  19. All of the parts and fluid specs are in the owner's manual.
  20. May just need to work the seat back and forth a few times to loosen it up.
  21. If you do a search here or on youtube or google you should find a lot of examples of how to clear an A/C drain blockage yourself - or take it to the dealer since it's under warranty.
  22. The repair is in Ford's Oasis system if it was done. Are you seeing any condensation below the vehicle on a humid day? If not then a clogged A/C drain hose is likely.
  23. I had to do without it on my 2006 Fusion and I missed it. It's a great feature for not only making sure you're never locked out but also to allow other people to get stuff out of your vehicle (or even to leave the key in it and let someone else pick it up later). You can also leave the keys in the vehicle while you're swimming, jogging, etc. If you have the IA fob and you lock it in the vehicle with the keypad it disables that fob from starting the car until you unlock the car with the keypad. So they can't just smash the window and drive off. I'd love to see a commercial where a GM owner and a Ford owner both lock their keys inside and while the GM owner calls Onstar and waits for them to remotely unlock the vehicle the Ford owner walks up punches in 5 digits, gets in and drives off.
  24. Whether the recall was performed or not doesn't really matter - if it's leaking it's leaking and needs to be fixed and inspected. Try hitting the driver's side A pillar area with a hose for several minutes with the carpet pulled back and see if you can see water coming in.
