  1. I think the materials, construction, sensitivity, etc. are different so a good 5x7 may outperform a so-so 6x8. I assume they make 5x7s in some brands because they fit more vehicles than the 6x8s but not really sure. In this case I don't think the cone size is going to be a big difference either way.
  2. These wouldn't be a bad choice at $150 for 4: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DXI571/Polk-Audio-DXi571.html?tp=93 If you want to go even cheaper: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TG6845R/Pioneer-TS-G6845R.html?tp=93
  3. Worked fine for me. It shows that the 5 1/4, 6 1/2, 5x7, 6x8, 6 3/4 and 4x6 fit the front door but it says the tweeters, midrange speakers, 6x9s, 3 1/2, 4, 4x10 and 5s do not fit.
  4. Ford sizes are usually listed as 5x7/6x8. I know a 6.5" round component speaker will fit as long as it's not too deep. Crutchfield is a good source for what fits or doesn't fit.

    1st oil change 3.5

A cutout would be nice if it worked. Was there also a cutout for the oil filter?

    1st oil change 3.5

The shield on my Fusion, Focus and Escape are solid and have to be removed to change the oil period. I don't think they used the wrong shield.
  7. It would be against the law if you were forced to pay for the service, but since it was free warranty work it was not illegal. And mfrs can force you to use their parts but only if they're provided free of charge.
  8. I bought one last year and a C-tek charger/conditioner. Now if I can just remember to use them.....

    Fuel Additives?

Could be the evaporative purge valve.
  10. Absolutely, and I would find another dealer if they give you those kinds of BS answers.
  11. The Edge will be fine as long as you have all season tires and not summer tires. Whether it's safe for you to drive depends on whether you've driven in snow and ice before.
  12. I don't think the SEL base radio comes with the amp to drive the sub. Just FYI.
  13. A little sarcasm is no excuse for a profanity laced personal attack and I've already discussed that privately. So let's all just let it go and move on.
  14. It's all done with a flasher now such as a SCT. You can get tunes from various sources. The 93 octane tunes will advance the timing as much as possible. That's about the only reliable way of getting more power and even then I think it's only going to be 20-25 hp or so. Lots of post about tuners and tunes - use the search bar in the upper right.
  15. Ford's factory exhaust is pretty good these days. I wouldn't expect more than a few hp gain from a full cat-back and probably less from just a muffler. You can change the sound though. If you want a power boost the best bet is a 93 octane tune.
  16. The dealer has to advocate on your behalf with Ford and they usually have to agree to assist.
  17. My point exactly. If you have 100 problems out of 1 million vehicles, that's a very tiny percentage. The odds would be 1 in 10,000 that you would have the same problem. Those are pretty small odds.
  18. It is possible to have a manufacturing defect that puts too much stress on it but it's fairly rare. You can find sunroofs and rear hatch failures on every mfr and model at some point. Even a few failures could be normal.
  19. I don't think Ford's glass problems are any worse than other mfrs. Glass breaks.
  20. I was just saying that it's not really designed to lock in SS mode like that - it's a glitch somewhere. If it happens again just try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
  21. That doesn't sound right. Adaptive strategy is what the tranny uses to compensate for physical changes over the life of the tranny - it just adjusts shift pressures to keep shifts within factory spec. It doesn't really adapt to how you drive although that seems to be a common misperception among salespeople and service mgrs. My guess is they just reset a module with IDS or just disconnected the battery and it started working.
  22. The first rule in computer troubleshooting is don't assume the part you just replaced is working properly. Test it first.
