I believe they're simply limiting the scope of the recall as much as possible now because they don't have the new parts available yet and they're taking a bath on rental car fees. So it makes sense from their standpoint (financially). At this point it doesn't really matter since there aren't any replacement tanks available anyway. Talk about a rock and a hard place. The best they could really do is buy back the vehicles immediately and offer a discount on a new one, which I think they've done to some extent. But some people aren't happy with that offer.
-
You would think that they would cover all vehicles with the same type of tank, but to date they have not. Whatever you end up doing to have it replaced, save your receipts. There is a good chance they'll amend the recall in a few months when they get the replacement tanks. I think they're just trying to limit the number of claims right now.

And a bad PCM can also damage the coils. I wouldn't wait long to get the PCM replaced. I thought the TSB called for replacing all the coils under the emissions warranty?

Which fuse for switchable power? 2013 Ford edge

How did you test the fuses? Which tool did you use? Was the vehicle on or off or in accessory delay mode? -

Ford PremiumCare ESP and Premium Maintenance Plans
akirby replied to wlepse's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Expensive lesson - always get it in writing. Ford publishes the ESP details and what's covered - just google it. That price also sounds really high for that type of coverage. -
I think you need to keep the fluid level topped off and do a periodic deep charge in these new vehicles. I bought a tester and a C-tek charger to do just that. BTW - it said my 2.5 yr old Fusion needed a charge even though it was working just fine.

Ford has done a terrible job communicating options with owners. Relying on dealers is not a good option in this case.

2011 Edge limited Driver door ajar issue
akirby replied to Racerb0y's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
First, I do believe Ford should extend the warranty on these. But didn't you choose the $100 deductible when you bought the warranty? -
You could fix it yourself for $150 and 15 minutes. That's a lot cheaper and easier than trading it in. That is not very professional. Have you tried our local Ford Service folks? They can often help more than the regular CSMs. Send a PM to FordService.

I understand they make money on service and used cars rather than new car sales. I could also see where a dealer might think that Ford is throwing them a bone with these bad parts. And I'm sure there is nothing in writing to prove or disprove it. If that was the goal then why did Ford INCREASE oil change intervals so drastically? Why didn't they keep it at 3000 miles? That would generate lots of revenue for the dealers. Same with transmission fluid - why make it a 150K mile service? Why not 30K? Wouldn't that give the dealers a lot more revenue? I refuse to believe that Ford would either purposely use bad parts or continue using bad parts for the sole reason of giving dealers more repair business. They may decide it's cheaper to continue using a bad part than it is to correct it but that's a different issue altogether. It doesn't make any sense for Ford to purposely generate bad quality ratings just to line some dealers' pockets. It ranks right up there with built-in obsolescence where the mfrs make sure the engine blows up after 100K just so you have to buy a new car. To me, it's just a conspiracy theory that doesn't make sense, thus the tinfoil hat comment.
-
So you think Ford would sacrifice JD Power quality ratings and pissed off customers and bad press just to let the dealers make some extra money on repairs? Your tinfoil hat is crooked.
-
Just so you guys understand, Ford makes NOTHING on out of warranty dealer repairs. Ford dealers are independent businesses. I do believe that Ford should extend the warranty on the TB and door latches.
-
If you traded it in for a new car you would have gotten far less than FMV - you would have gotten wholesale value - and you wouldn't get the $2500 either. Altogether that would be closer to $5K (assuming you were planning to trade it in anyway). I don't know why you would expect to get more than that.

Crutchfield also has adapters and wiring diagrams. -
Yeah but you've got 2 extra stickers so that's not a fair comparison.

If you put on two of them you might hit 100 mpg!

Don't make me call the grammar police.....

Was it listed on the dealer's private website with actual pictures, or is it just listed on Ford's dealer inventory website? If it's just on the Ford website, it will show that it's in stock before it actually arrives at the dealership. It's probably still in transit. I wouldn't worry too much - just check with the dealership to confirm.
