  1. First of all, welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about the problems you have been experiencing. Thank you for your service Not sure I can help you, but will try. The rapid clicking is normal, it's the fuel injectors firing away. The knocking is definitely not, and could have multiple reasons, and I hope your situation does not involved a cam/cam phaser/valve due to lack of lubrication. A mechanic's stethescope can help narrow down the source. Was it the valve cover gasket on the firewall side that blew? There might be oil in the plug wells causing misfires, in which case the Edge should be running rough. Oil in the harness for the injectors might be causing intermittent shorts also causing the injector(s) to not fire properly.
  2. Welcome to the forum, jyeat, and congrats on scoring the '14 SEL! What color? Planned mods? Previous ride(s)? Pics
  3. Welcome to the community, thom, glad to have you and your '13 Edge here! Looking forward to the mods you undertake, as well as your experiences along the way
  4. I bought the 1 million pack that Amazon sells for cheap just because ...
  5. Fingers crossed it stays quiet Haven't seen that behavior from "overinflated" tires before, unless they are worn to that point and you are turning the vehicle.
  6. ^^ Would agree. Far passenger side (next to firewall/strut tower) = cylinder 1. http://www.obd-codes.com/p0201 Cylinder numbering: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/9106-cylinder-numbering/ Firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6. Stupid question, but have you ever run a bottle of Fuel Injection cleaner like Techron through the gas tank? Would be worth a shot. Also try taking off and reseating the electrical connector before moving forward to the injector itself.
  7. Check the PTU fluid (and the RDU fluid if PTU checks out). I hope against hope that the PTU fluid looks clean with no metal shavings in there!
  8. Might be an indicator that can be turned on in the dash display. PM jmr061 to find out or directly on http://www.fordpimods.com/
  9. Could be dirt/rust/loose hardware in the wheel area, in addition to the WSS itself.
  10. Vehicular traffic clogs most roadways in Asia, often mixed with ye olde time modes of transport including pedestrianism (?).
  11. Two years ... low mileage ... short trips or basically in "storage" mode. A battery tender should be used in such situations because the driving cycle is insufficient to maintain proper charge in the battery. Unless it is a deep cycle battery, it CAN have a short life as a result. My 2 cents without knowing more about your particular situation.
  12. Are they going retro??? Hopefully just a placeholder or an upcoming Navigator, not an MKX. Interesting.
  13. Time to bubblewrap the Edge! No bumpercars, please Don't worry, I am sure you will find a fulltime need for the system back here in the States, too. IIRC, Dingo had a 360 system in his Edge at one point.
  14. Probably more important to check cabling for wear/breaks/corrosion. Clean any corrosion off. Apply felt washers to the terminals or an anti-corrosion compound/"battery protector" similar to this: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/permatex-counterman-s-choice-battery-protector-09976/7730003-P http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-anti-corrosive-battery-washers-2-piece-ac619/10200599-P
  15. Should be closest to the strut tower on the passenger side of the firewall. At least that is where it is on a 2007.
  16. The ToughMax series has a much better warranty (7 year) so I would think it would have longevity advantages. Now as for going with a 65, do you have the extra 2" of room you need in length? http://machenry.com/documents/batteryspecs.pdf
  17. Ho hum mundane stuff today Checked fluids underhood (power steering at MIN, topped off gently with Mercon V to MAX), and adjusted tire inflation pressures (all were about 32 psi, got 'em up to 35 psi per sticker). Have not checked the spare's pressure, will do so soon, get it up to 60 psi if need be. Used this little gauge to check pressure, neato and matched very closely to the gauge on the inflator, though I still prefer one with an end that screws on to the stem: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037V0EW8
  18. Brake booster, IAC and battery would be tops on my list to check. Here is an article you may find useful: http://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-stalls There is an extended warranty on the brake booster, so definitely possible. Does the Edge stall if you shift to Neutral and stay on the brakes for the 30 seconds+? Experienced any other mechanical/electrical issues lately? Recent servicing?
  19. What bulbs are you using for lighting? Will this play well with HIDs and/or LEDs?
  20. It is definitely not normal. And you are right to press on.
  21. Sounds like the PTU was already on the way out when the first incident happened, probably due to overheating due to low fluid level. No resort that I know of ... so far ... but to fix at your own expense. Could be a coincidence that it happened with the spare tire (meant for limited range driving, but sounds like you were WELL under), maybe not. Try calling Ford National Customer Service, or if that doesn't work out, Lincoln Customer Service. I hope our Ford rep on here (Tricia) will see your post soon and step in with advice. BTW, the difference is about 3" in height, I believe between the stock wheel and the spare: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php?tires=245-50r20-165-80r17 which is still way above the difference the AWD can compensate for. Interesting tidbit I was unaware of (OM): "You should replace your spare tire when you replace the road tires or after six years due to aging even if it has not been used." "If your vehicle is equipped with AWD, a spare tire of a different size other than the tire provided should never be used. A dissimilar spare tire size (other than the spare tire provided) or major dissimilar tire sizes between the front and rear axles could cause the AWD system to stop functioning and default to front wheel drive and could damage the system." "Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)"
