omar302 replied to omar302's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Update Got my car yesterday from the dealer & they said they couldn't find any configuration that would enable the paddle shifters! -

The MFT 's APIM is covered for 5 years regardless of mileage. First, I would make sure your on the latest update, version 3.6.2, second, when was the last time you did a Master Reset?

Will do. Still did not have time to take it to the dealer. Hopefully in a week or so. -
2011+ Edge has stem mounted sensors, and yes, they are rubber stems.

2013 Edge steering wheel
omar302 replied to toast1850's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It is a simple job. 30 minutes max, 20 of which just waiting for the power to discharge First you need to disconnect the battery. Wait 10-20 minutes to ensure that the Airbag system is fully discharged. There are 2 small holes, one on each side of the steering wheel, you will need a long rod, like a Alen key and insert it in one hole so you would push a spring inside that would release one side of the Airbag. Then do the other side & the Airbag would come out. Note: Once you have the other steering wheel, you can see how you would push the rod/Alen key inside the holes. Once the airbag is loose, you need to disconnect the 2 wires from it and remove it completely. Take extra caution handling it. Disconnect the wire inside from the clock spring. There is a single bolt holding the steering wheel, I used a T50 torx wrench. Unscrew it & the steering wheel is free to remove. Reverse to install. Again, take extra caution handling the airbag & ensure that your battery is disconnected. This also helps avoiding Airbag Warning lights. Removing the Airbag is similar to below video of the F-150, except the Edge has 2 holes only, not 3. This is the Torx wrench I mean, used T50: http://www.powertoolsdirect.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/f/a/faithfull-star-torx-key-set-of-12-t7-t50.jpg -

2015 Ford Edge Introduced - Edge Going Global

It is official! The 2.7 Ecobooost in the F-150 is rated for 325hp & 375 lbs-ft. Given the expected tranny limitation on the FWD based edge, akirby seems to be spot on with around 330hp (or 325 like the F150) & 350 lbs-ft. From the same article, the 3.5-liter V6 (non-ecoboost) produces 283 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque http://commetsmigtest.sandbox.autoblog.com/2014/07/22/2015-ford-f-150-specs-revealed-ecoboost/ -

Further to my earlier post, it seems from the technical specs of the 2015 Edge, that all 3 engines can be FWD or AWD. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/asset.download.document.pdf.html/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2015_Specs/2015_Edge_Specs.pdf -
2015 Ford Edge Introduced - Edge Going Global
omar302 replied to LI Edge's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
From the main article, in the OP: Edge equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost can be specified with newly available all-wheel drive and a towing package capable of hauling a 3,500-pound trailer. & The available all-wheel-drive system for the new Edge is full-time, on-demand and seamless there are no knobs or switches to activate. An electronically controlled clutch, which can engage faster than a human can blink, transfers power between the front and rear axles, sending up to 100 percent of the power front or back. I didn't find anything on the 2.7 and AWD, but if they follow the same pattern as current the 3.5 Ecoboost, it would be an AWD only drivetrain for platforms with transverse mounted engines (FWD platforms such as the Edge's). Too much torque on a FWD vehicle is calling for trouble. -
Cracked Driver's side window
omar302 replied to NatG's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The side windows on Limited & MKX (not sure of other Edge trims) have laminated windows on the front side doors for the sound isolation. I think the brand is SoundScreen and should be printed on it. As for heat causing pressure build up, cars already have pressure relief flaps. -
Factor99 is correct. Using metric fuel economy, it states how many litres used per 100 km driven, so when your not moving, guess how many litres it takes for you to drive 100 km? Infinite. So the gauge just defaults to 30 l/100km. Also, if you think something became weird after the k&n filter install, how was it beforehand?

Cracked Driver's side window
omar302 replied to NatG's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I believe a 2011 Limited should have the laminated side windows for the driver & passenger. As for heat, we have A LOT more heat & never face cracked windows. -
Ford is slowly improving newer models. For example, in my 2011 MKX, when selecting M mode, the gauge display will change to the round ROM display and remainthere even after returning to D mode. On a friend's 2013 Explorer, the display will return to the last display after returning to D mode. I noticed this change because I always get annoyed that I have to change back my display after a brief M mode I use at my Work's parking building.

On a little related news, the 2.3 Ecoboost for the Mustang has been rated at 310 hp & 320 lbs-ft if torque. http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/news/ford-announces-official-2015-mustang-horsepower-ratings-ecoboost-v6-gt?src=spr_TWITTER&spr_id=1459_72569254 -
They change, 2, 3, 4 or 5 depending on which menu your in. In the settings screen you'll see them the most.

Don't know what they are called exactly, the inside plastic cover for the side view mirrors are made in a way that they have a pointing edge at the top which apparently will tear the weatherstrip. Its the same on both driver & passenger doors, but the marks are now more apparent on the passenger side. See attached images, hope they are clear. Was wondering if it is a design thing on all Edges/MKX or something is missing or misfit in my car.

Not really a comparison, but the attached Order Guides might be useful for 2011-2014 years. 2011 Edge Order Guide.pdf 2012 Edge OrderGuide ver2.pdf 2013 Edge Order Guide.pdf 2014 Edge Order Guide.pdf

2011 & 2012 have 'M' mode, for manual control. Also, can you please point out the procedure for setting the height of the power liftgate? -
From the Owners Manual: Non-Ford approved chemicals or additives are not required for factory recommended maintenance. Infact, Ford Motor Company recommends against the use of such additive products unless specifically recommended by Ford for a particular application.

It is a pre-production, the switch should not be there since paddle shifters are standard. The 'S' is for sport mode, already available in 2013 & 2014 Edge/MKX. Basically a different programmed mode for the tranny to hold gears more and shift at higher RPMs.
