  1. Isn't that generation of Edge known for the door latch signal failing indicating a door is open? I believe it is. Do you ever see the door ajar light on when driving? If this part is failing on any of the doors that could explain the alarm going off.
  2. That was true of the 16 MKX but the 16 Edge didn’t use MFT(SYNC2) in USA/Canada. Export models did use MFT as SYNC3 wasn’t ready for deployment in other countries yet. As far as the 16 having more issues with the SYNC3 system than the 17s....well late model 16s were equipped with the same APIMs as the 17s so it depends on the build date at which APIM it would have in it. There was some service bulletins related to the early version APIM but some of those even applied to 17 APIMs. It can get confusing. I wouldn’t worry about it either way. As long as it is CPO’d or you get an extended warranty the APIM would be covered anyway. Also all 16s need the updated usb hub to support CarPlay.
  3. OH wait I read that wrong didn’t I....you just want to add the sub not the entire system. Hmmmm, I have had my back apart to put the OEM trailer wiring in. The “sub” really isn’t that impressive even with the Sony amplified system driving it.
  4. Non amplified systems run the speakers to the ACM (in the center stack) while the amplified systems run the speakers to the amp in the back. So you would have to re-run all the speaker wiring, along with adding the wiring for the amp including can bus lines etc. Then there is re-programming the vehicle for the amp system. Probably easier just to install something aftermarket and it would end up sounding better anyway.
  5. Unless you have all the required hardware and paid access to the appropriate service sites, you can't. The dealer should try doing an update on it, but being an 11, if it's the original APIM it's probably going to die soon anyway if it isn't dead already from the failed update.
  6. Ford's SYNC3 WiFi update system is currently FUBAR. I would ignore it or shut WiFi off.
  7. I have seen some USB updates fail like that. Only way I have been able to recover them is by doing the dealer update.
  8. What was the version in it before the update attempt?

  10. BTW I stand corrected on the OEM 18+ Ford Remote Start add on. The key press squence is lock/unlock/lock, not lock 3 times. I see one dealer on eBay sells the 18 kit stating it works on all 15 and up Edges. This contradicts what the official Ford accessory site lists as far as compatibility goes. They say it is 18+ only. The Edge uses the same kit as the Explorer and I am aware of someone that had that eBay dealer send them the 18 kit for his 16 or 17 (don't remember which it was) and it caused the cluster to go nuts with errors. They ended up sending the "correct" kit and the vehicle was just fine with it. The add on accessory for the 15-17 uses a single button fob so you end up carrying two (the original and the remote start fob). This is why some people hate these kits. For the Ford authorized remote start (one way long range) this is what the kit is: https://www.ebay.com/itm/15-thru-17-Edge-OEM-Genuine-Ford-Parts-Remote-Start-Security-System-Kit-NEW/181889067427?fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AEdge&hash=item2a596ee9a3%3Ag%3AtowAAOSwk-1Z94eb&_sacat=0&_nkw=ford+remote+start+edge+oem&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR6.TRC0.A0.H0.Xford+remote+start+edge+oem.TRS0 If the vehicle already has the perimeter alarm on the window sticker it already has a functioning hood switch (built into the hood latch assembly for the 15+). Just need the kit and remote start properly enabled.
  11. Sorry but I was referencing official Ford accessory hardware. Not 3rd party.
  12. Yes it is likely possible to add it. Have to see if the display supports it. Most do, some don't.
  13. I wish someone local to me would avail themselves to allow me to test a theory...but I think you can add factory build remote start by changing some hardware and reprogramming along with getting the proper fobs. Just a theory until I can try it though. I have had this theory for a long time.
  14. The 11-14 are not the same as 15+ in regards to KE/RS.
  15. The description of three times of the lock button with a Ford accessory install only applies to the 2018 and up.
  16. The OP hasn't posted specifically what the e-mail said. Saying support for SYNC versus SYNC Services are two completely different things....thus the reason for asking for what the e-mail specifically says. SYNC Services announcement for end of life was announced a while back.
  17. Could you post the contents of the email (redact any personal info)?
  18. Admittedly the thread is a bit confusing, the OP has a 13 but hasn't posted back on the thread and C360 jumped on board with an 11.
  19. @C360, if you don't have SYNC the odds of you adding any SYNC system are slim. All the wiring/hardware is missing and you have would have to add it all.
  20. Is it a 13 like your profile shows?
  21. I have mine up and running. Works perfect in the little bit of testing I have done. Many many options within the service to play with. Shock alarm settings, Geo-fencing, and on and on....link to owner's manual: http://docs.fordpasssmartlink.com/documents/ownersManual_FordPass_en-US.pdf
  22. Those are the same. I have been using them since the end of Sept 2016. No issues with them at all.
  23. I got one from a dealer yesterday. They were supposed to get it setup today (I am doing the IDS part and they are doing the account side) and even though they are a trained dealer for some technical reason they were not able to get it set up today. Guess I have to wait....
