2 years is not bad at all considering your conditions and circumstances. They might do my lady well. She does about half of your mileage. Including padding the miles for road trips etc. Her commute is less than 1 mile per day. But she parks out side the majority of the time. She's not overly picky about them. She just did not want to pay for PIAA. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

The instructions that @ONEDGE16 provided are correct. Unfortunately some users needed to remove the trim to get to the hub. There is a user here that said he simply popped it out. (unfortunately I can't place his name at the moment) I would try popping it out. if it works you're good to go. If not try plan B!

The guy in this video did not use any pry tools. The media hub swap would have been easier if he used them. But as you can see they are not mandatory. Even though he has SYNC3 like you do, he mentions updating the firmware. @jmr061 and @ONEDGE16 mentioned upgrading the firmware. I would double check to see if you have the most recent firmware available. If not upgrade it to SYNC3 V2.0 at a minimum.

Effin ridiculous! Order the USB hub and install it yourself. If you do not feel comfortable doing it, try a car stereo shop. I cant see a car stereo shop charging more than $50 for the installation and thats asking a lot!

You updated to SYNC3. All you need is the updated usb hub. If you want to check your part number you would have to pull the usb hub. Even though this is for a F-150 it applies to the edge as well. Scroll down to the apple car play section. It states that you need to upgrade the USB hub. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/05/19/ford-sync-3-software-update-apple-android-2016-vehicles.html

Personally I do not care for the OEM edge 20" sport wheels. I do like the ST 20" wheels. Unfortunately I have yet to see any available for sale. I'd check the usual suspects facebook market place/ eBay/ craigslist. https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/wto/d/monee-ford-edge-sport-rims-20-lincoln/6958344287.html If you prefer new wheels then you can point your browser in this direction https://www.detroitwheelandtire.com/searchanise/result?q=ford+edge+&page=3&rb_categories=2018%7CSPORT

Explorer wheels are 5x114.3. Your wheels are 5x108. You should be looking at Land rover/ Range Rover / Volvo/ Jaguar and a few others that escape me at the moment. (Depends on the model and year. Carefully do your research.) If you decide to go with a different manufacturer you can change the center cap.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
onyxbfly replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
IMHO Ford doesn't care. It would be too much like right for them to issue metal replacement pans. I guess they have too much inventory so it makes sense to them to keep sending them out. They enjoy paying dealers for their warranty service. Perhaps this is a write off for them. Correct! It's pure speculation on my end. The F series is marketed towards people who work with their vehicles. The Edge is marketed to those who commute in them. Ford only became proactive with the 3.5 when people complained and they started having warranty work by the hundreds if not thousands. Like I said pure speculation. No matter how you slice it or dice it Ford decided to do something about the F series oil pan debacle, the edge not so much. -
Sync 3 dual USB port - this is needed because it has Apple CarPlay authentication chips. HC3Z-19A387-B for the Ford version (blue lighting around USB ports) GJ7Z-19A387-B for the Lincoln version (white lighting around USB ports)

The front plate holder is the worst. Dealerships should ask buyers if they want it installed. I get that its extra work but It truly takes away from the lines of a overall beautiful front fascia! In retrospect dealerships would make more money because buyers would have to pay to have the bracket installed in states that require a front plate!

Your wheels look great!

Variety is the spice of life. I prefer gloss black over matte black, but then again it is relative to the paint color of the car. Some colors look better with smoke/ charcoal/ bronze etc

Nice find! It's the little things that matter!

I let my lady deal with the drive through debacles. Vehicles get bigger/ wider and the drive through remains the same. Its always a stretch/ reach for me with drive thrus. i'm always apprehensive about rubbing or scraping something. The only drive through that I prefer to go through is the pharmacy. Because the drive thru negates having to wait to pick up meds. I haven't seen any all season tires with wheel protection. The only tires I have come across with wheel protection are sport/ summer tires.

There may be some truth to what the guy at Detroit W/T told you. My wheels are night and day different than the wheels on my brothers 2015. If I remember correctly the dealer told me that there was a shortage of materials used to produce the wheels. I thought he might have been joking, but we walked around his lot we must have seen 3 or 4 different shades. My brothers wheels look more like charcoal. Mine are more of silver tint to them. His matches the magnetic grey trim that is in the front grill and mine does not. Your wheels are in very good condition. GLWS!

Kid unfriendly it may be but that white interior is very elegant. I'm always looking at white on black that I completely forgot about white on white. Your son has great taste! Its truly gorgeous! I would be torn on getting my windows tinted with that interior.

Local Ford dealership used tap water for coolant mix
onyxbfly replied to ThugFordEdge3.5's topic in 3.5L
I hear tap water and shudder at the thought. At times it feels that I have some of the hardest water in the country. I never had it tested but I know I wouldn't want it in my cars coolant system. Plan your work and work your plan! -
The 17+ Q60 reminds me of a baby GTR without the exotic super car body panels. What color interior did you go with? I have always loved the black interior with white cars. The blood red or even bright red they offer is equally stunning. It will be a while off before, I start to serious look at one. I'll drop you a line via PM when I do.

Moving from 21" to 20" wheels and tires. Suggestions?
onyxbfly replied to wofer's topic in Wheels & Tires
I know the feeling. I have a love hate relationship with my 21" as well. I'm not sure if its due to bad driving. I have driven plenty of cars/ trucks with large/ larger wheels. At first I thought it was me and my driving habits. But we're not alone. There are plenty of people who complain about curbing the 21" wheels. I don't know if its a issue with sight lines/ depth perception. I do know that angling the mirror down helps when aligning the truck. Personally I feel that they should angle down in reverse from the factory. Yeah Yeah If I had a nickel for every time I hear I should have brought a Lincoln I could repair your curb rash and mine! I've come to the conclusion that I will go down to 20" wheels. But since, I love the look of the 21s, I'll eventually have my 21" refinished. You can run up to 295 on a 20" without any mods. The width of the wheel that you choose will be a factor in your tire selection. Unfortunately I don't care for any of the 20" stock offerings. I have yet to find a wheel that I love. Wheel selection is a very deep and personal choice hahha It is very easy to suffer paralysis via analysis. If matte black tickles your fancy take a look at SNMJim wheels for sale Don't let the price turn you off. Reach out to him he may be able to take a shave and a haircut on the price. -

Local Ford dealership used tap water for coolant mix
onyxbfly replied to ThugFordEdge3.5's topic in 3.5L
Correct you haven't changed coolant types but the coolant you have in there that is mixed with tap water is less than desirable. IMO the coolant that is mixed with tap water is not the same as the 50/50 premix, nor mixing concentrate with distilled water. If it was we wouldn't be having this discussion. Not suggesting that you will have any issues. On the flip side if you were to have any coolant related issues between now and your next coolant change. They will visually inspect the coolant and say it looks like blah blah. You will say y'all mixed it with tap water. They will say we issued you a refund. Anything after that is on you. If it was my truck I'd take the refund and go to a different dealership and explain the situation to the service advisor. This way it will be documented that the previous dealer used tap water and issued a refund etc. It will also suggest to the service advisor that you are well aware of what type of coolant should be used. Who says the previous dealer noted that they screwed the pooch?
