  1. No need to berate yourself, we've all been here at some time in our lives. Some more than others. Some braver than others to admit it. I speak from experience. My 21" wheels are less than pristine and that's putting it mildly. There has to be a debate out there somewhere on nets about the worst cities to drive in. I live in Philly and I'm sure our roads are just as bad if not worst. I've been out there a few times. I remember that friends and relatives would say that Chicago has two seasons: Construction and Winter. Both will take there toll on wheels and tires. Omar made two excellent suggestions you can go down to 20". 20" wheels are cheaper, and open up a plethora of tire choices. 20" wheels are lighter and ultimately much more comfortable to ride on. Or you can find tires that offer some rim protection. I can't speak to which tires offer them. If you come across some please share with the group. But if you prefer the look of the 21" They are very unique and look very good. Hey I don't blame ya. I like the look myself. if you do decided to stay with the 21" you can get a 45 series tire which will give you a taller sidewall. If you do decide to go with a 45 series tire it will increase unsprung wheel weight. I don't know if the small increase will have an adverse effect of handling. My google-fu revealed a shop in Highland park that will repair and refinish your wheels. They have great reviews on yelp and google. At the very minimum I would take a drive out and see what they're working with. When in doubt google will sort you out. HTH Good Luck. Wheel-Tech Reviews Wheel -Tech
  2. That is a very good question. I interpret it that you use the flush if you are changing coolant type. If you are doing a maintenance coolant replacement, the coolant type is the same and the flush is not required.
  3. From what I understand, Ford recommends a coolant system flush if you are going to change coolants. They even make a flush to help facilitate that. Personally I would flush my system and then fill it with ford 50/50. Or the premix, the only advantage you get by using concentrate is that you will have enough left over to change your coolant next year. Thats a win for me. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Ford-VC-1-Premium-Cooling/dp/B000NU16UA
  4. I don't blame ya. The RS is not for everyone. If I had a dedicated track car I don't think I would consider the RS either. Depending on what mods tickle your fancy, you can get close to 400HP with a catless downpipes/ exhaust and tune. The C43 AMG always turns my head when I see em around town. I never looked into them as I never really considered getting one. I had no idea that was a factory exhaust system! They really sound good. Enjoy your new ride!
  5. I am glad that it worked out in your favor!
  6. Thank you for your many contributions over the years! I'm sure your new Q50/Q60 forums will be glad to have you. I've been plotting on the Q60 Red Turbo for a while now. The Red Sport is on my short list after my edge is paid off! Enjoy your new ride, may she bring you as many miles and smiles as your edge!
  7. Welcome to the forum! She's a looker for sure! May she serve you for many years to come, and bring twice as many smiles!
  8. Another option, albeit more costly is a clear bra.
  9. Congrats! Welcome to the forum!
  10. Inspections are not covered under warranty. I am not advocating lying but if you are so inclined you can tell the dealership that you are getting a very strong odor and intermittent noises from what you suspect to be the PTU. They may or may not charge you. If they charge you and your PTU is at fault they will reimburse you. Some dealerships charge upfront for inspection of warranty claims and others do not. Or you can change your fluid, and run it for a few hundred miles with a few high speed runs in between and drain and refill. You can send a before and after sample out to Blackstone laboratories to see the condition of the fluid. That will also be a strong indicator to the condition of the PTU as well.
  11. Truly sorry to hear that your car was stolen but definitely glad to hear that it was recovered. You need two admin keys to program a new key and to be honest I doubt it would cancel the old one out. I know plenty of people who have 3-4 keys for their rides. If the thieves have your extra fob I would suggest going through ford and getting new key fobs with new keycodes. I know that remote start involves the BCM. Not sure if the BCM or whichever module corresponds to your key fob/ codes. You might need to have the corresponding module reprogrammed. The entire process should be covered under insurance. I'm sure you would prefer to avoid getting insurance involved etc. HTH
  12. I have some last minute running around to do before going on vacation. If I have time, I'll try it today. If not its on my todo list for when I get back! thanks for the suggestion!
  13. Nothing at all. I wish I received a programming failed message. I get no feedback at all. I was hoping that maybe I was doing something wrong, but your remote start test was the final nail in the coffin.
  14. Depending on ones comfort level the parts can be had for around $5-600. One would have to do their due diligence etc. I've seen the APIM w/ navigation and screen go for $3-$375. Thats the bulk of your purchase right there. Everything else are lil additions that are needed. GPS antennae and USB3 hub etc. I may be overlooking something but one can seriously get everything for $5-600 from salvage yards etc.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion! That's a great idea. Neither one of us thought of testing the fob that way. Unfortunately it did not work for us. I even swapped batteries to no avail. Will be going back in the mail tomorrow.
  16. I don't blame you. Initially felt the same way. But I can say with 100% certainty that this model works!
  17. If no one wants to trade with you, and you can't find a used one from a yard. A new complete assembly is available for $152.82: https://parts.levittownfordparts.com/oem-parts/ford-air-cleaner-assembly-f2gz9600c?c=Zz1lbmdpbmUmcz1haXItaW50YWtlJmw9MSZuPUFzc2VtYmxpZXMgUGFnZSZhPWZvcmQmbz1lZGdlJnk9MjAxOCZ0PXRpdGFuaXVtJmU9My01bC12Ni1nYXM%3D
  18. I don't know if those will work or not, but this is the one that I use. There are several other members here that use the same one. https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional-Diagnostics/dp/B006NZTZLQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=bt+mx+forscan&qid=1564159893&s=gateway&sr=8-1
  19. Most tuners prefer that you use stock plugs, and have them gapped at .026 The factory gap is set to 0.30 IIRC
  20. Could be a ghost in the machine, or there could be an underlying issue. First thing I would check is my transmission fluid level. Secondly I would check for any DTC codes with an OBD scanner/ reader. You should state the year, model and mileage of your edge. Also state what routine maintenance has been done. One of the more knowledgable members can provide deeper insight once you provide some info.
  21. I'm not sure what software SCT uses although there are a lot of tuners that use them. Personally speaking I would go with Nguage or MPVI2. They both use HPTuners software. Once you buy the credits you can go with any tuner that utilizes HPTuners software. BCB or Unleashed comes to mind. All you would need to do is purchase the tune. IMO the provide the most flexibility. Mycalibrator touch is made by Livernois and can only be used with Livernois. Keep in mind that with Livernois you are limited in what additional mods they will tune for. For example they have tunes for most mods because they may have tuned an edge on site with those mods. You never know until you ask them. You go over the top and get new turbos and other goodies and Livernois will ask you to come in and pay for dyno time. Most if not all tuners will tune the transmission shift points along with tuning the engine. Regardless of whichever tune you prefer to go with you should look into getting a 170 degree thermostat. The Afe filter is a drop in replacement that performs well tune or untuned. The catch can is used as an integral part of basic preventive maintenance. It has no bearing on whether or not your engine is tuned. Snmjimm and SpecialK are developing an CAI that actually looks like it will be the only one available that truly seals the the intake from the hot air the engine makes. The rest on the market do not provide an adequate seal just utilizing the hood. Most people get improved throttle response. A tune will make the most of the CAI. There are other mods you can make that will take your edge to the next level. Check out SpecialK mod subsection. You will find links to forum discussions and links to make purchases etc. Enjoy your edge!
